Hello Sir,
I am Wren Thendor, I think we have met in the distant past once or twice in the times of the war against Bloodstone. I was but a whelp then but my brother Glenn was involved before his untimely death.
I am wondering if you can help me with a bit of information. Sallaron's son Trouble pointed me in your direction. Trouble tells me that you may have been given a sliver of the Green Dragons scale, which was absorbed into your blood. And that Sallaron had hoped that finding any remaining taint of that Green Dragon Scale within you, might allow the Selian Witch to scry for the location of the Green Dragon. I understand that this is very delicate information, you need not confirm or deny any of this with me, in this I am only a messenger. But if you have any information that came of this please share it with the Lady Commander Daniella. I await a reply.

*Brac seems to be totally oblivious to everything that's going on around him and is solely focused on the loads of fascinating information and books.
Every now and then, the characteristic "Fascinating" can be heard with a slightly metallic rasp to it.*

*He briefly glances to the side as if annoyed at people talking in a library location, then returns to the book he was reading, muttering something about respect for scholars.*

*Wren Looks at Daniella and shrugs* Perhaps we should move out of the library?

*Daniella, standing formally in her full plate armor, clasps her hands behind her back and spreads her feet slightly to stand patiently and wait for Brac'ar's attention. She looks tired, a newly appearing grey showing in contrast against her dark brown hair. She watches him for a while before clearing her throat and speaking softly and firmly* When you are ready, sir.

*He looks up. "Do you realize your fancy armor makes it difficult for people to concentrate when they are trying to read? The next time you come to a library, wear a robe so that people can read in peace and not be disturbed by all your clinging and clanging."
He starts to turn his back to her again and then notices the distinctly Toranite outfit. "Who are you anyway?".
Clearly, he hasn't heard any of the introductions.*

*Daniella smiles patiently*
My name is Daniella Stormhaven, Champion of Toran's Divine Will, and Commander of Toran's combined ground forces. Are you Mister Brac'ar Fireface Kilring?

Having facilitated Daniella's transport to Bydell Castle, Connor stands silently within the room, leaning up against one wall and observing the interchange. A complex smile forms easily on his lips as he watches his old friend.

"Ah yes, I was going to meet you here." He puts the book he was holding on a table, then sits down.
"Champion of Toran's Divine Will, are you? Quite the title." He clears his throat. "Which reminds me of an incident when you were probably not even born. A Toranite Dragoncalled, I fail to recall his name, wanted to speak to somebody. He failed to realize it was the dead of night though, and that normal people are sleeping at that time."
He starts chuckling.
"Know what the poor peasant said when the Toranite said to open the door in the name of Toran?" He doesn't wait for her answer but goes on "Go stick Toran with a fork!"
He laughs loudly now. "With a fork! I thought that was quite good. Wish I could've been there in person."
He then turns his hooded face towards you and you see a faint yellow glow coming from under his hood: "I hope for your sake you're not one of those who demand to open doors in the dead of night because it's the so-called divine will of Toran."
He chuckles again, then pauses.

Connor grins and chuckles silently, looking very amused.

*Daniella listens calmly to Brac'ar's story, and does not seem to respond on whether she thinks it is a joke or simply a story. She waits until he is finished before she speaks again.*
I suppose since you agreed to meet with me and you are, in fact, here, that it is hopefully not a completely inconvenient time for you.
We have information that suggests that you may be able to help us scry for the Broken One. Is this true?

"Do you even know what you are looking for lass?" *He grunts*
"Fezrekthania, the Broken One. At the time thought to be one of the last five dragons in existence on Layonara."
He looks at her from under his hood. "I spoke to her, you know. As I did with many a dragon. She wounded me at the first meeting when we were trying to get the dragons to ally themselves with us against Sinthar Bloodstone."
He absent mindedly pats his leg.
"Wounded me, yes, and almost became the death of me. But of course, we caused her death. Death by ignorance and carelessness."

*Daniella continues to keep a calm expression as she maintains as close to eye contact as she can with the hooded figure.*
Do I know exactly what we are looking for? No. Do I have a pretty good idea? We think so. We are looking for the body of the Broken One, because we believe her to be dead. I believe her body to be the vessel of a bloodpool. If it is not actually the bloodpool, I believe it to be nearby. So I suppose the question would be, rather, do you know what we are looking for, sir, and can you help us find it?

"Of course she's dead, didn't I just say that?" he says somewhat annoyed and as he does, you hear his voice turn slightly more metallic.
"It was 1384, the time to deal with dragons, the attempt to ally the last five dragons against Blood, the start of my journey towards what I am now."
He pauses.
"Although I did not know it at the time of course. And it if hadn't happened, I'd never have created that truly masterfully piece of spellweaving, my missile storm."
He continues with some enthusiasm. "Do you know how many years of research, trial and error is involved in the creation of a new spell, lass? I suppose you don't, being a Toranite and all that. But nonetheless, I shall try to explain it to you because you insist." He nods.
"Let's see where to start. First there was the Al'Noth.... Hmm... I suppose that's not technically true. Who says the Al'Noth was there first... There could have been something before the Al'Noth... A fascinating thought, if I say so myself... I wonder if anyone ever pursued that line of thinking... Perhaps I should give that some more thought.... Yes, perhaps I shall."
He then takes up a bag from the floor next to the table and rummages through it until he finds a rather tattered looking book. He rummages through the pack a bit more and removes a quill and an ink well.
Carefully he arranges this all, opens the book, finds a blank page and starts to write.

*Wren looks at Dani with a good luck smirk of his face but then he quickly removes the smirk and says quietly to her*
Give this a chance, he is has been in hiding for a long time. I am sure that what he will tell you will help greatly in the upcoming struggle.

Sir, as fascinating as I'm sure your history lesson would be, and I mean that with the utmost sincerity, I'm afraid that anything not directly related to what is at hand right now with locating the Broken One's body will unfortunately have to wait until after we've completed this task. Once that is done if you are willing to tell me the entire story of exactly how much research is put into creating a new spell I would gladly sit and give you my undivided attention.
However, right now this is of the utmost importance. Do you have something that will help in finding her body or not? If you do, and are willing to offer it, then we will gladly accept. If you do not, then I will thank you for meeting with us and we will go so that we do not take up any more of your time, or cause any more disruption in this library.
*Daniella waits for his response.*

"What?" he sounds distracted. "Oh right, the Broken One." He looks at the book again, then puts the quill in the ink well again. "It's a good line of thought to pursue though, what was there before the Al'Noth."
He closes the book.
"Very well, lass. I shall tell you of Fezrekthania for that was her name.
She was the first dragon to join the alliance against Bloodstone. Not because of they were so willing to band together and rid the world of Bloodstone, no, or at least not as primary reason."
He pauses for dramatic effect.
"Fezrekthania and Fisterion really joined because of the possibility of us non-dragons helping with the return of the lost dragon gods of magic."
He points toward Connor standing in a corner. "And don't you start calling me a blasphemer, Connor old friend. The idea was that Lucinda would survive."
He chuckles and then turns back to Daniella and also briefly looks at Wren.
"It is important you understand this. Many a dragon would like their old gods to return. Of course, first you need to know where they went, but the wish is there. They will never say it themselves though, nasty old lizards that they are. Never going to ask for help themselves."
He waits for a moment.

Despite his best efforts, Connor is unable to hold back completely on his fond amusement at the conversation. Something between a chuckle and a cough launches out of his throat, unfortunately carrying and echoing just a bit too much in the stone room. He coughs quietly a couple more times, muffling the sound in his sleeve, in an attempt to regain himself and finds control of himself once more. His expression is apologetic, and he gives a small wave over to Daniella and Brac'ar, something he hopes conveys that he is alright and that they should continue.
When Brac'ar calls him by name, he speaks out.
I was there when the deal was struck, remember? And when the Broken One gave you the shard of herself.

"Of course I remember." He chuckles. "I just said you don't have to call me a blasphemer, which you didn't. And I doubt any of you Lucindites ever mentions that tiny little detail about the dragon gods of magic though."

Connor chuckles again, this time lightly and with fondness in his expression.
"A conversation for another time, old friend," he says.

*Daniella watches between the two of them for a moment, continuing to wait for the conversation to get back on the right track*

"It's been too long." *looks Connor over* "And it looks like you've been a few years without a tailor. Luckily for you, I'm a few years out of practice with the hiding and all so let me know."
He reaches for his bag again.
"Speaking of tailoring, I still remember the day I made this bag." He pats it fondly. "It has served me well over the years, and there was a time I thought I'd lost it."
He nods at himself then says to Connor, seeming to have forgotten everyone else in the room "Terrible thought that was."

*Daniella clears her throat* You were saying, sir, about Fezrekthania?

"Oh no, it's just that this coat is terribly comfortable and has served me well," says Connor. "Though if you can propose some enhancements, I might be interested."
His eyes slide to Daniella briefly and then back to Brac'ar. "Perhaps after she's done with you, however."

"Right, the dragon. As Connor hinted at, she didn't give me a sliver of a scale as proof of her joining the alliance, no. In the wound she tore in my leg at the first meeting, she put the sliver.
We collected 4 other slivers of scales. Shadrixkayl, the Deepening Dark. Yzyartkadrania, the Long Storm. Drez’zlunkhazh, the Black Plague. And last but not least, Fisterion the Red, red lizard of Firesteep. He bought into the alliance after mentioning the dragon gods.
Five dragons, five slivers." He looks around.
"When we were leaving her lair after the Broken One inserted her scale in my leg, we were stopped by Sinthar Bloodstone himself. We had been careless, and had led him straight to her lair." He sighs. "We tried to outmatch him and with my vast control of the Al'Noth I even managed to counter one of his hellballs, but it was too much. We had to run and once we were gone, he and his minions went into the dragon's lair and he killed her.
So the alliance of five dragons was short-lived, and it had become an alliance of four.
Bloodstone brought in a massive ship and transported the dragon's corpse to Belinara.
It did not take long for rumours of an undead dragon in or around his fortress to reach our ears. It is highly likely this was Fezrekthania in undead form."
He looks at Daniella.
"That is where the Broken One was last seen. We always assumed she was destroyed in the explosion of Blood's fortress, but perhaps this assumption was wrong."
He pauses again.
//logging off now, more tomorrow

"As for the sliver of her scale, and in fact all slivers. They are no more.
Or I should say, they are no more in their initial form. "
*He throws back his hood.
You see a face that's unlike that of other dwarves. At certain moments it seems to shine much like a crystal would in a cavern. It is odd to place a source to it all, and it certainly looks natural most of the time unless the light hits it on a funny angle.
Your gaze then draws to his eyes, which are a crystal yellow, like lightning quartz. When he uses his magical senses, they seem to glow with a faint yellow light.
As you continue to look at him, he smiles briefly, baring two small pointed teeth.*
"You see, lass, I am no longer what I was."
*As he says that, you notice that his voice now really has a kind of metallic and mystical quality to it.
He takes off one glove, then the other. You see his hands are covered with red scales, his nails being longer than normal. They almost look a bit like claws.*
"I am Drakk Dawi, dragon dwarf."
*He pauses and waits, folds his claw-like hands, his eyes glowing faintly.*

*Daniella's eyebrow raises slightly as she looks him over* The slivers did this to you?

"Not quite. You see, the wound in my leg with Fezrekthani's sliver in it did not close. And I was too busy at the time working against Bloodstone to do anything about it.
A few years went by, we defeated Blood and I could turn my focus on this wound. At that time, it had become too fused with me to be removed and it was starting to kill me."
He pauses for a moment, staring at the wall.
"Ultimately it came down upon two options. Either I would strike deal with Fisterion or I would attempt a ritual with the idea to voluntarily fully fuse myself with the green sliver as well as all the other ones."
He chuckles.
"I did talk to the old red lizard and outwitted him with his deal. I got from him what I needed before he got anything from me. So I suppose he still wants me to honor my part, but no chance at that. "
Matter of factly: "I plan to kill him after this cult stuff is all over and done with. Oh yes."
He looks at Daniella again.
"I underwent the ritual and as you can see I survived. The individual slivers no longer exist, I am those slivers. It is not just appearance either. Observe."
He takes out a fork from his bag, clears his throat and breathes at it. What looks like green vapor hits the fork and it starts to dissolve.
"Fezrekthania could do this."
He then takes a candle from his bag and emits a short puff. A small flame spurts from his mouth and the candle lights up.
"Fisterion can do this."
He blows out the candle and pockets the partially dissolved fork.
"Of course that's only a small demonstration of what I can do.
You say you seek the location of the Broken One. I cannot help you there, because I do not know it. It stands to reason that I may still be linked to whatever remains there are. So, I will allow a vial of my blood to be used in a scrying attempt to see if it can somehow guide you.
Ask the Silkwood Witch if she is willing, and I will make my way there."
He waits for her reply.

*Daniella purses her lips as she listens, then nods slowly* I have not spoken to the Silkwood Witch, sir. If it is truly a vial of your own blood that is needed to scry, then I thank you for being willing, but... *she pauses a moment* I think that it may prove more dangerous than is warranted, to you personally, and also perhaps to her. If the two of you should decide that you wish to try it of your own volition I cannot stop you. But I will in no way or in any form of official capacity request that you do so. Not with Ausir's tear being active and whatever the full properties that it has and with the Oracles as the Cult has them.
I'm sorry if we have wasted your time sir. I thank you for the information you have given, but I will not ask you to use your own blood for whatever remains of Fezrekthania's body.
And if you still should want to explain to me in full exactly the time and research and trial and error put into developing a new spell when this war is over, then I will take you up on the offer and listen.

Connor raises an eyebrow at the exchange and gains a puzzled expression on his face.
"I can take you to the Silkwood Witch right now, if you want," he says to no one in particular. "and bring you right back...or anywhere else likely...when the conversation ends."

"Speak to the witch and if she accepts the risk, so will I. I will not go and travel to seek her out myself. I have research to undertake.
Besides, I am not in hiding from dragons. If my blood indeed allows for determination of where the dragons are whose slivers I incorporated into my being, it would also work conversely and they could all know where I was, if they so desired.
No, it is not dragons I am hiding from, it is the Cult, for I suspect I would be a nice object of study."
He dons his gloves again, and pulls his hood over his head.

Connor straightens and pushes away from the wall.
"To the Witch then?" he asks, looking directly at Daniella.

Sir, it's the risk of the Cult detecting you that I am concerned about. If you still believe the risks to be acceptable, then I will go with you. But before you make that decision I wanted you to have all of the information we can give you.

*Wren watching all of this transpire cant help but let out a bit of of a gasp, not in fear or revulsion, but in respect. He stands when the others are ready as of to say, "I am of course going with you".*

*Daniella looks at Connor and nods once* To the Witch.

*They arrive at the Witch's house in Silkwood and after a knock they are invited to enter.
She nods at the group and asks if they want some tea before they explain to her why they're there.*

*Daniella accepts the tea from the Silkwood Witch and concentrates on the area for evil (because she always does) and then looks at Connor and Brac'ar for a moment before even attempting to start explaining.*

Connor also accepts the tea and thanks the Silkwood Witch for her continued hospitality, mentioning something about it having been quite a long time. He takes note of the magic in the area (because he always does), and when Daniella looks at him, he raises an eyebrow.
"Need me to translate?" he asks.

Daniella nods. "If you would, please, it's more your area of expertise than mine by far."

Connor nods to Daniella and makes introductions before getting to the heart of the reason for their visit.
"These here," he says, gesturing to Daniella and Wren. "are trying to discern the location of the Broken One, once known to be dead during the last war but now believed to be important to the Cult and their power. Brac'ar here, as you may have known, once had a shard of the Broken One embedded within him. This has now been absorbed fully into his body, but the hope is that enough remains in his blood to enable scrying upon the dragon's location. Brac'ar has offered up a vial of his blood, provided you accept the risk of such a potentially dangerous undertaking."
He looks between Daniella and Brac'ar for a moment.
"Did I leave anything out?"

Daniella purses her lips and then shakes her head. "No, Mister Garvil, I believe that covers everything, thank you."

*Chuckles* "No, you didn't leave anything out."
*He turns to the Witch and accepts the tea. She replies to Connor "I believe the risk to be acceptable. After all, everyone knows I am here in this forest. Besides, " she smiles "I am not defenseless."
"I shall make the attempt, but if there is not enough uniqueness of the Broken One remaining in Brac'ar, I will likely not see anything."
She turns to Brac'ar "I shall begin the preparations. Bring me your blood in an hour." And she leaves the room to go and prepare.
Brac takes a sip from his tea. "Fascinating taste, this tea!"

*Wren bows politely upon entering and does not take a seat, he instead stays in a position to watch the door. He does however accept some tea with a quiet "thank you". He does not interrupt the conversation, but waits until she agrees to help, then clearing his throat a bit he adds* Would it help you if I can narrow the area down on a map?

The Witch smiles at Wren before she leaves the room.
"That won't be necessary, I don't need maps. My sight goes where the Al'Noth takes me."
When the hour is almost up, Brac'ar rummages through his pack and pulls out a vial. "Can never have too many vials upon oneself." He chuckles.
He removes one of his gloves and pulls his skinning knife from some unseen pocket of his robe.
With a brief slash, he cuts his palm and allows the blood to drip into the vial.
Then he looks up "Anyone have a bandage?"

Daniella offers to bandage him if he lets her with many years of practice evident if he does.

After his hand has been bound by Daniella they wait for the Witch to return.
Once she does, they hand her the vial and they are asked to accompany her.
They leave the house and follow her to a small pristine pond. You see a small earthen bowl next to it.
She asks Brac'ar to pour his blood into the bowl, and then proceeds to fill a silver carafe with water from the pond.
She starts an incantation and seems to be walking a pattern around the bowl. Still incanting, she then empties the carafe into the bowl, without spilling a drop.
She then takes hold of the bowl, looking into the blood stained water....

From a distance, all you can see is a slight swirling of the waters. After a minute or two she looks up and shakes her head.
"I am afraid that my attempts only yield one location, that of Brac'ar himself. Not even the slightest hint or connection to another creature is present. Whatever individual nature of any of the dragon slices linking them to their original owners was there, is gone."
She looks at Brac'ar "Of course this also means that the owners of those slivers cannot just scry on you based on any remaining link."
Brac'ar nods "At least that's something."
The Witch then turns to Alatriel "I am sorry I cannot help you further. Was there anything else you require?"

Connor stands in the background, observing but keeping away from the magic of the scrying. With the declaration of results, or the lack thereof, he purses his lips slightly and shrugs to himself.

Daniella looks at Connor and Brac'ar a moment, and then thanks the Silkwood Witch for the attempt. "Sometimes the answer of no can tell us quite a bit as well."
