Title: The Cult War- official name?
Post by: Alatriel on June 06, 2011, 09:45:26 PM
I was just wondering if there was any sort of consensus as far as what this war is going to be called in Layonaran history... or if we're still waiting for the war to end before historians start to call it anything.  I know that the campaign is called the Dragon Storm, and that that name ties to the philosophy of the Green Dragon Cult... but... Cult War?  Kuhl War?  Belinaran War?

Thanks a bunch!

Jrizz suggested earlier tonight "The Long War"  it's definitely fitting.

"History is written by the victors." ~ Winston Churchill

I believe the plot team will leave this untouched unless the tide turns against the allies. *wonders who will get the hidden references*

Long? Compared to what? Rael's war against the good people of Prantz? The Dark Elf war against the surface? You short lived races have only been pretending.

For reference, the war against Bloodstone lasted some 60+ years...so yeah, long is relative.

Yes.  Being invaded is not an uprising, though, just to throw that out.  An uprising is an insurrection or a revolt.  That's not a good description of what happened.  "The Kuhl Uprising" would be the people of the kingdom becoming partisans and rebelling against the Cult.

Jennara will probably always call it "the war against the Cult," at least until some other cult comes along and she has to be more specific.

Or how about 'The Dragon Storm'?  huh huh?  Ya know, cause the Campaign name isn't a bad idea. . .

It really just depends on which Aragenite markets his account the best, so despite any of the really cool names (or at least the descriptive ones) that might float around the populace, it will be some dumb name that has nothing to do with the event itself. Small children will be taught this in school, and a whole new generation of oopsies will spread across the world like bulls seeing red, bats not seeing at all, and Columbus.
