Title: Axe-ing a question
Post by: RollinsCat on July 03, 2011, 10:40:04 AM
...so I check server status on a whim and on Central I see...

Yuraxe
Proudaxe
Thunderaxe
Trueaxe

and because he has to be different, one Bolderanvil.

That made me laugh.  Out loud.  Do you get a bonus stamp on your Dwarven Army membership card if you have "axe" in you name somewhere?  Can I make an Axe "The Axe" Axesson for a free toaster?

Vor-axe smiles kindly upon those with axe in their family names. It is an axe-iom of Dwarven culture, for the dripping axe is his constellation. Axe.

Meh. Dwarves and axes are so cliche. I'm making one with 'hammer' in its name!

That would be:

Battlehammer, Clinkhammer, Crushinghammer, Dillhammer, Forgehammer, Hammerfall, Hammerfell, Hammerfist, Hammerhand, Hammerheart, Hammermugg, Hammersong, Hammerstone, Hammerstrike, Hardhammer, Heavyhammer, Hrendhammer, Ironhammer, Kilnhammer, Orehammer, Rubyhammer, SilverHammer, SkullHammer, Steelhammer, Stonehammer, Stormhammer, SwiftHammer.

Egads! How about references to ale or beards? I shall make a dwarven pyromancer named Olaf Burningbeard!

Beards:

Axebeard, Beardburner, Beardtrimmer, Blackbeard, Bloodbeard, Firebeard, Frostbeard, Glitterbeard, Goldbeard, IronBeard, Singedbeard, StoneBeard, Stormbeard, Wildbeard.

Ale: too few letters to do an objective search on.

The wonders of last names! While amusing as they can be, dwarven last names lack the sophistication and beauty of the dark elven house name but I digress. This makes me want to make Olaf Burningbeard now! :P

Axebeard Alepride has been conclusively determined by renowned scholars of dwarvish lore to be the single most dwarfly name ever granted.

Axebeard "Stonemug" Alepride.  Can't forget the nickname.

The best last name there is for a dwarf, is surely Bouldershoulder. Oh man that cracked me up back in the days!
From there originates the "bouulder" in Boulderanvil

You could always go into exile from the old clans, throw away the axe, pick up a pirate cutlass and name yourself Kurn Blackwater. ;)

The surname's lack of rock, metal or beard should be a dead giveaway that he's clanless.

And here I thought Blackwater was dwarvish for lager. ;)
