Had a start just this day. Encountered two Dark warriors at the bottom of the Silkwood Caves. Take heed. They were outfitted for action and more than able to defend, or take, from the unprepared. Where there are two there are many.

A woodsman from the Silkwood has been seen warning any who will listen that dark elves have been spotted in the Silkwood. He claims he is lucky he made it out of the woods to tell the tale, and spent several hours hiding in the bushes after they passed him. They were last spotted heading towards the area of the forest known to contain caves. He's travelling to the nearest settlements to pass on his warning.
//OOC, just fair warning. This is not an investigation for lower levels or small unbalanced groups. You undertake at your own peril. ;-) The danger will be present until the server resets or the threat is removed. A GM may, or may not be present for the action. ;)
-
A gray rolls in to the Wild Surge, sits at the bar and begins speaking to whomever will listen.
Now I heard that there were dark elves in the Silkwood. Maybe that is so, or maybe they are dead. I was down in one of the cavern systems rooting out spiders, and came across a camp, some strange altar and a chest. No dark elves, and we were not ambushed either.
Anyone hears anything contrary contact me through Calise. I dont want their filth on the surface or anywhere else.
He sips a glass of wine and smiles at the lady next to him.
-
//If someone defeated them, please post. :)
-
// Enzo was there but spiders were too much so he turned back... Saw the camp fire in the distance but I wasnt close enouth to see if any Dark Elves were over there.
-
// Thanks for your report!

Samantha Merritt turns in a report that was given anonymously:
A group of dark elves seem to have been gathering in a cave in the Silkwood Forest. Turned in along with the report is a book that is reported to be written in dark elven, though Samantha could not understand it personally.
It is reported that those dark elves that were present at the time have been dispatched, but further investigation is recommended to ensure that it was a one-time occurrence rather than something larger, as well as investigation into the meaning and writings in the book to possibly understand what it was that the dark elves were doing there.
It is reported that the spiders present did not harm the dark elves, but there seemed to be a lot of them (the spiders).
Present among them was a powerful mage, a skilled man-at-arms, and several others totaling to about a dozen dark elves.
The report is passed to both the Brelin Kingdom, as the report was taken in Center, as well as the Rofireinite church for documentation and investigation.
-
Daniel alerts the woodland folk as he and Breanna make a circuit patrol of Silkwood. Two dark elves were slain in the southron portion of the wood closest to Wayfare after they refused parley or to yeild to superior skill in arms. The healers of Aeridin were informed in person by Daniel and Breanna both and asked they continue to patrol on behalf of the woodland folk. The healer in charge promised to keep the few rangers and druids they knew on high alert.
Daniel sent a followup letter, notifying the small shrine that no more dark elves were found.
-
Gel'larian goes to the office of Captain Alicia and tosses a bloody robe on her desk.
Dark elves in the Northern reaches of the Silkwood. I will be hunting them, if you want to arrange a hunting party, I could lead it for
you. You can find me at the Wild Surge for three hours before I leave town again.
He leaves the office with out waiting for a reply.
-
She looks at the bloody clothes with a blank look, pulls out her dagger, and sweeps them into the trash can next to her desk. She goes back to scribbling the report she was working on...
-
Inside the Wild Surge, Gel'larian beings to weave a tale of the dark elves stalking the woods. He magically adds in some lighting from underneath his table so that the shadows plat up on his face. He warns of a shadow and a threat in the forest, whose extent is unknown, and warns any travellers away from its edge.
Once he has finished his tale, he finds a quiet corner and pens a letter to the authorities of Paruin, Drake and Krandor telling them of all he has seen in the Silkwood Spider Cave and near the home of the Silkwood Witch. They are sealed with a hawk carrying a heart in one talon and a clutch of arrows in the other. The letters are taken to a falcon messenger service and sent off post-haste.
These tasks completed, he heads back in to his beloved Silkwood and begins his patrols.

**In the meantime Aesthir walking alongside Myr reports a sight of two dark elven warriors ambushing them to the west of the city, he gives description of the equipment and presents the head to the authorities to be placed on pikes for the peopel to see them *
-
*Aesthir presents another report in Haven speaking of a bunch of Ca'duzites to be seen on the spider cave , he presnt several heads on pikes for the fence as well , he mentions that the other withnesses were Rory and Myr *

The silence was maddening. The forest was supposed to be a place filled with nature's music: birds, insects, the rustling wind. It had fallen away under the oppression of the dark elf threat slowly engulfing this cherished place.
Gel'larian pushes all that down as he draws his bowstring back, and a silver arrow magically appears in his fingers. He focuses in on the target and the otherworldly hum of Al'Noth fills his body as he takes aim. He hums a soft tune and feels a icy connection along his arm, out the bow and in to the small bit of exposed neck that the dark elf stalker exposed. The magical energy spills out of him as he looses the arrow and less than a second later, the enemy falls flat on his face.
The gray elf then scampers up, almost on all fours to the body and plunges a dagger in to its vital organs to ensure the kill is good. He rolls the body over and looks over its ebony face. The look of surprise from the arrow piercing his neck will be his rictus, a more appealing look than the hatred that his last kill to its grave.
With a grunt he moves the body in to some deep underbrush, so that it cannot be discovered with out a concerted effort. That done he turns towards the path that his evil cousin had come from, a feeling of dread welling up inside him. Following it he eventually arrived at the camp of the prospecters that hermitted away in the woods. Two of those solitary folk that make a life in the wilds, pulling small bits of valuable minerals from the riverbed. Gel'larian had seen them from time to time in the last few decades, and had even shared a meal or two with them. They were good men, and lively, and now as he approached their camp, he could see that their memory would be all that was left of them. There was a struggle but those two were old and not warriors besides; they never stood a chance. He found a small figurine that one of them had carved and tucked it in a pouch. He would at least have something to bring their life in to the light of day, instead of lying forgotten in their forested tomb.
Gel'larian replaced the fond remembrance of the fallen innocents with the stoic hunters mask as he heard a panicked squirrels cry from a ways off. He quickly cast a spell of invisibility, and began to stalk towards the sound. There was no peace to be found yet, but there were still questions to be answered. Why were they here in these woods? What is their plan? What will it take to drive them off? His head swam as he considered this. He had no idea of their numbers or desires, only that larger raiding parties were about, and they were serious about their business.
The only way he could see finding an answer to any of this, would be to ask one of the dark elves. That means catching one, which is a tricky business. He would need help. A million options ran through his mind as he walked in the deepening gloom. He tried to block out the rush of ideas until he could find out what this latest disturbance was.

Myrddyn stops by his fathers (Enzo Reynolt) house . He tells Enzo of all the spiders they saw that seemed to be hatching their little ones. Then he goes on to tell Enzo about the great number of Dark elves several of which had symbols of spiders that they wore. They (the dark elves) were comming down into the cave as Myr and his companions (Aesthir & Rory) we going back up and out. He tells of some that had the upper body of a dark elf and the torso of a huge spider.
Myrddyn goes on to ask Enzo, if he thinks those dark elves were infact comming down into that cave at that time because of all the spiders that were hatching.
//this is my follow up to Aesthir, Rory and Myrddyn being in the spider cave on 8-4-2011
-
*Some days after Aesthir is seen coming near the Toranite temple looking for Certain Cedric of Toran , he doesn't enter the temple and sends a courier in, he shows a prideful and almost challenging smile standing at the feet of the temple as if expecting to someone to see him openly*
-
*A couple of days later Rory enters back into the spider cave to investigate the cave more thoroughly. Her objective hopefully to get an idea possibly where the dark elves are entering through the cave.
The day prior she sends word to her husband what she is doing and where she is investigating*
-
Encountered two Dark Archers in the Silkwood Caves. It also appears that they have brought a few pets with them. In addition to the usual assortment of death I encountered spiders of the Queen, Spittiing, Chamelion, Phase, Dark Underworld, and Rock species. There may have been others but they escape me. I was also attacked by a young centepede, and diseased spewing rats. Adventurers beware.

*Argos returns home to find Rory's note and startled just take his things again and takes some water and food and start to head east, a furrow on his brow as he goes and search for his wife, with his senses open to danger, Before leaving he checks that the kids are effectively not there and then moves out*

Gel'larian was anxious. So many things could go wrong with this plan, but it was agreed that knowledge of what the dark elves were up to would be a cornerstone to any viable defense or response.
Three rangers from Folian's Vale had agreed to accompany him. They laid in the underbrush on a small outcrop of rock above a decoy camp they had made. Sacks of grass had been stuffed under cloaks and blankets to appear as sleepers, and a smoldering fire burned slowly near some equipment. The sun was dipping below the unseen horizon, shielded from view by the great trees. Arrows were knocked to bowstrings, and several tanglefoot bags were within reach.
The three watchers almost missed the slinking shadow making its way toward the camp. It moved slowly, and deliberately. Locks of snow white hair could be seen poking out of the edges of a hooded cloak by the light of the fire.
Gel'larian tossed the bags and they struck true, sticky tendrils spraying everywhere and binding the stalker. The immobilized dark elf did not make a sound, replacing a cruel looking dagger into a sheath and drawing a short sword. The four guardians of the forest waited to ensure there were no others. The minutes ticked by, the dark elf not moving except to scan the area around himself for an attacker. Confident there were no more dark elves, Gel'larian and the three rangers began making their way toward their prisoner.
Then the hells broke loose! In a heartbeat the dark elf was struck with multiple arrows, his mouth immediately beginning to froth with the tell-tale signs of poison. They realized there must be numerous other dark elves in the woods, and they had coldly killed one of their own to eliminate any risk of capture. One of the rangers accompanying Gel'larian was struck in the throat and had no chance, falling to the forest floor to die. Then they were running... The night was a haze and a blur. It took all of their skill to make it back to Folian's Vale alive, as they were hunted without pause or remorse. Poisoned arrows humming in the darkness. The guards at the Vale hastily opened and closed the gates to let them in after appropriate challenge and passwords were exchanged.
Gel'larian knew things were bad... and more importantly, they were going to get worse!
-
*Word spreads that authorities in Haven have issued a 50 True bounty on any dark elf heads brought in.*
-
The sentries at the entrance to the temple regard Aesthir with a cool but polite demeanor. After a short while Cedric comes out and nods to him and says "Ahhh... appears generosity was not the only impetus for what you did. It is appreciated nonetheless. Come..." He walks into the street, and Aesthir is very conscious of a lack of invitation into the building.
//PM me some questions or grab me in game and we can begin a dialogue... ;)
-
High Justiciar Reus, Healer of Rofirein sighs deeply as he hands the pouch to the courier. The weight of many years full of adversity and conflict seem to hang heavy on his shoulders. "Deliver this to Unit Knight Captain, High Protector Poetr." He strokes his long handlebar mustache in thought as the courier leaves.
-
Upon receiving the missive, Daniel expression hardens to one of firm resolve then he loads Edward and his beast of burden with supplies, food, and tools. He leaves a note at the Guildhall that says simply, "I have been called to do the Great Dragon's will in Silkwood. Messages can be sent to myself in Aeridin's Gove in the Vale." Further messages are dispatched to the Temple in Vehl calling for volunteers from the faithful as well as notices tacked to the board in Center and Hlint.
-
Gel'larian comes in to the shop, battered and dirty. With an exasperated calm he comes in to find Enzo.
Master Reynolt. This dark elf matter is getting out of hand. Every move we make, they increase their desperation. Now, they are killing their own to avoid capture.
He slams his fist on a table.
I need your help, Folian's help it!
I want a dark elf alive, so we can get some answers about why this wood is.. crawling with dark elves!
*Enzo speaks in a calm mannor*
The boy *he motions to Myrddyn who is also in the shop at this time* has told me of some of the goings on he has been a part of in the Silkwood. I do agree that things seem to be getting worse instead of better which leads me to beleive that whatever their goal is, it has not been acomplished or we have not yet stopped it. Myr mentioned they witnessed several of the spiders hatching babies, and then running into several dark elves that were comming down into the caves as they left. If this was their goal... they'd have left once Myr and his companions killed all the spiders... so there must be more to this.
I understand your desire to capture one of their ranks. You must understand that not only will they kill their own to avoid being captured. They would take their own live just as swiftly to avoid capture. Beyond that... should you manage to catch one. Getting it to talk will be about as likley as getting me to stop wearing green and start wearing fushia colored armor. That is if the one you manage to catch even knows anything at all. You see I doubt the average foot soldier will even know what all is happening aside from his direct orders given to him. Now should you be able to capture someone who seems to be more in charge you may get lucky and find some papers or other clues to aid you. I dont advise putting all your eggs into this capture and interogation basket. It just isnt the same with them as it would be for someone of the surface.
I would reccomend some more effort going into where the hells they are comming from. Have they discovered some new route to the surface from that spider cave? Or perhaps some other nearby cave we do not yet know about? You know how vast the deep is... and also that it changes with earthquakes, volcano eruptions and such. If this is the case.... we must seal off this new passage.... Mistone is no place for such a thing.
Please use my place here as you see fit to rest, and what ever else you need. I will be making contact with others who walk these woods and hopefully we can solve this before things get much worse.
Myself and the boy will both be doing what we can to put an end to this threat.
.
-
Enzo's words soothe his ire somewhat. He crosses his arms and thinks for a moment.
Perhaps we can still try and capture one, at least to find out where it goes to get its orders. In the meantime, I will try and find out where they are coming from. If you want to travel with me, I will be leaving at dawn and heading towards the spider cave.
-
Upon his arrival at the Vale, Daniel speaks quietly to the healer of Aeridin showing the man his orders and inquiring as to where command center could be placed for supplies and coordination that would not overly impact the harmony of the grove.
-
*Call it fate, but Rory finds Enzo soon after he leaves his home. By her appearance Enzo could tell she's been scouting, laying low to the land. Rory tells Enzo the facts of what she's been up to, why and what she's found. That's she's going back to find the Dark Elves trail, that she has starting point. She stresses they must use the forest to their advantage or their lives are in danger.*
-
*Enzo leaves word with the temple of Aeridin and its healers to ask those who are working on this matter to stop by his place and cooridiante information and such*
//Enzo's place is 155 Folians Vale, Silkwood forest. It is the tree stump house in the back left corner of the area as you look at the map.
//Enzo does have Elves (specifically for Dark Elves) as one his favored enemies so he definatly feels he has skills, knowledge etc to help in this matter.
-
Upon hearing the reknown man's request, Daniel sends assurances he will do so first opportunity. Rangers are asked to dispatch messages to Enzo. Daniel dislodges the crow by tossing some corn kernals on the ground, after the bird finishes eating, a message is attached to his leg. You are welcome to join, but be aware the eyes of the Gold are upon us, Miss Tyra.
-
A large mercenary company called The Mithril Legion recently departed Haven. Eager to reap a profit on the bounties for dark elven heads they made their way toward the Silkwood. The local townsfolk watched them with apprehension, hoping they would be able to help put down the incursions.

Cedric, of the Longsword hands off a package containing envelopes to a messenger after his conversation with Aesthir. Please deliver these to Lady Daniela and Sir Lance Stargazer. They must be apprised of the situation. *He shakes his head wearily, still recovering from his recent battle.*
-
*A couple of days after, the figure of the Protector Aesthir is seen arriving to the Folian's Vale, he looks around with a secure smile and prideful stride of the black stallion and smiles pleasently to himself as he spots Daniel, approaching he smiles at him with the very same smile*
- Brother, seems that the gold has decided that we have to work together again in more than one way .*he unmounts of the steed and aproaches to extend his hand for a brother's greeting offering his whole arm to him with a knowing smile* I am glad to see that the temple has decided to deploy its best men for the task **a calm smile as he says that with pause and security*
*he then looks at him and awaits for an answer*
-
*Sensing the unease in the Silkwood a stout dwarf has set off into the wood to investigate the cause. Hearing the rumors of dark elves about from a local ranger Zigruum uses caution as he walks the woods staying in badger form most of the time and wearing his quitest leathers and gear. He lingers in the shadows and blends with the foliage as he wanders the wood hearing what Nature will tell him*
-
Zigruum can sense great sadness and loss as he walks the woods in badger form. Animals are in hiding, and those he can find out and about are not being social, even to a druid, and exude an aura of fear. There is a tension in the woods thick enough to cut with a knife. You know in your heart that the balance has tipped on its ever volatile fulcrum and will not be able to recover without help from nature's protectors. While in badger form you have witnessed large raiding parties of dark elves slipping silently through the trees, flitting from shadow to shadow, hunting anything that will shed blood.
-
- Brother, seems that the gold has decided that we have to work together again in more than one way .*he unmounts of the steed and aproaches to extend his hand for a brother's greeting offering his whole arm to him with a knowing smile* I am glad to see that the temple has decided to deploy its best men for the task **a calm smile as he says that with pause and security*
Daniel responds by clasping Aesthir's arm, "Greetings brother, I am thankful to the Gold you have come. Word has reached my ears a mercenary company seeks glory and true by slaughter. It is my wish that you deal with them. I will have no looting, lawlessness, rape of the forest, or discomfort brought heedlessly to the folk of Silkwood." His visage grows stern. "You are to communicate this to the leader of these mercenaries and politely inform them that any such accusations against any member of the company will be investigated and prosecuted to the full lethal extent of the Gold's Law. Is this understood? Also, they will report to you and you to me. It is my intent to use these warriors as a anvil with our own men as the hammer once the dark elves are located. Inform them to camp in the clearing nearer to Haven, Sir. Any dark elves they come across there are their own to deal with as they see fit." Daniel regards Aesthir calmly awaiting acknowledgement of his orders.
-
Gel'larian watches Daniel start to mobilize people and his brow becomes knit. He walks up to Daniel and Aesthir talking, and begins speaking at the first opportunity, however small.
It may seem a small point gentlemen, but exactly whose authority are you here on? Just a small detail.
He crosses his arms and looks at them expectantly.
-
Daniel waves over the Healer of Aeridin and produces a document with orders signed by Justicar Reus. "As you can see, We of the Dragon have decided to take an active interest in this matter. We also have the request of the Aerindite temple here, so we not good sir?" Daniel waits for the Healer of Aeridin to confirm.
-
Gel'larian nods a little.
I am not sure what Justicar Reus has to do with affairs in Brelin or the Silkwood, but if the Aeridintes requested you to be here, then that is well. Can't be too careful. I am sure you understand.
He gives a small smile.
So are we going on patrol then?
-
Daniel nods brisky, "Assuradely, as soon as matters are more settled here I shall accompany you along with a few other brave souls into Silkwood Cave, Master Gel'larian. We shall leave no tunnel unexplored, no rock unturned until this dark menace is found." Daniel resumes organizing his command post placing chests of food in charge of one Ranger and making him quartermaster and so forth.
-
*Wren returning to Center hears of the dark elf rumors. He seeks out friends and informants to get as current as he can on the situation. Shaking his head while he talks with some friends.* First Voltrex and now here, there is more a foot then just an incursion. I was told of a great dark dragon in the deep demanding slaves for whatever it nefarious plans are. I bet my elf bottom that this has something to do with that. *he laughs* never any rest!
-
Gimli quickly finishes packing his gear and reaches for his axe. He overheard an excited conversation between a couple of rofirein scum concerning drow in the silkwood and a reward in true for they're heads. Hell the truth of the matter was he would not need a reward, the very thought of catching them darkies topside and exposed brought a little spittle to his lips. He quickly washes it down with a large gulp of ale. Stopping in mid step he bursts into laughter...suppose he comes across a pitched battle between the darkies and the rofies. Who would he side with? Grinning he steps into the portal.....
-
From Riley Alexander:
These Dark ones still persist in the caves and I do think they are adding cunning to their tact. I dispatched a bowman just prior to entering the lower depths of the caverns and had taken to rest and heal before continuing. While seeing to my wounds a Dark Warrior squeezed through the tunnel shaft and stood there. Quietly. I immediately arose and made ready but he made no effort to attack. Didn't even turn to face me when I hailed him. After a brief moment he proceeded deeper into the cavern. This I believe was a trap and having not fully recovered from my wounds I made haste to leave. Two warriors followed me out and attacked with the assistance of a long legged pet. I do believe that if I had continued deeper rather than out I should have had a very different out come. Travelers beware.
-
Daniel responds by clasping Aesthir's arm, "Greetings brother, I am thankful to the Gold you have come. Inform them to camp in the clearing nearer to Haven, Sir. Any dark elves they come across there are their own to deal with as they see fit." Daniel regards Aesthir calmly awaiting acknowledgement of his orders.
*Aesthir clasps strongly his arm* I am not -coming- brother. I've been over this area before you and your company arrived, and had been fighting this blasted creatures for some weeks now. **he passes him a report of the sightings he found* And have been looking for the source of this infestation. Now perchance , its amoung your friends someone who knows the dark tongue?
**Once he speaks of the Mithril Legion , he nods and smile* And of course I'll see about that if you see my abilities better fitted to put those savages in control over my knowledge of the situatiion, gladly help you on that task, I'll head back to Haven then and start to trace them inmediatelly .
**he relases the clasp after after a small squeze on the arm, looking at him for answer to his question as he mounts his dark steed *
-
Daniel looks a touch disapointed then turns thoughtful, "Perhaps my gratitude was premature, as for an expert on dark elf matters I have given some thought to using a mercenary of the same breed, brother. I await an answer to my inquiry as we speak.I do; however, thank you for attending the mercenaries, Sir." Daniel pats the flank of the horse and waves.
-
*Aesthir gives him a smile and nods*
Gratitude is not what i am here for, and should not be accepted by this knight till something was done about this situations. *he nods slowly smiling* So worry not since its not gratitude what i expect or search. Still it won't be disrespected nor words dishonored from my brothers or other equally honrable people
If my advice is appreciated even if not asked, I'd be wary for hiring mercenaries on that regard brother , they blend amoung us and Dark elves are not to be trusted, none of them, and mercenaries or not we should be wary, We don't want to get caught by a doble-agent. At least if there is one of them that you can call friend at least that would give you some reasurance. I leave that situation for your better wisdom to decide of course it was just an advice with the best intent of my heart.
We'll speak later brother, Please let me know if you find someone that speaks of the dark tongue, **he nods slowly* May His Holy Breath cleanse your way of enemies.
**he awaits enough respectfully to hear any answer before departing *
-
Daniel's face clouds with a touch of anger after Aesthir leaves and he mutters low, "Does he think I am fool? Bah, of course I do not trust any mercenary, but we must have someone who speaks their wretched tongue."

From Riley Alexander:
The Dark Elf threat in the Silwood Caverns increases. Not only do they have Warriors and Archers they have now managed to infiltrate Master Rogues, Clerics, and I do believe Priests. Recently a band of us, Kian Takeda, Zigruum Frostbeard, Griff Silverstrand and myself were clearing the caverns of the long legged death when we came upon these newcomers, as well as the plain Warriors and Archers, on numerous occasions. These newcomers have also brought new pets. Those that steal the armor off your person during battle and those that sap your strength. These are in addition to the species I have warned of prior. Beware adventureres of all manner and type. It would be foolish beyond all measure to venture to the caverns without the gift of sight as the Master Rogues can fade into the shadows again and again. As always. Stay vigilant. Stay brave. Be victorious.

A long line of Toranite Knights and a handful of scouts led By Sir Cedric are seen riding slowly into Folian's Vale, 23 in all. They stop at the outside perimeter of the circle to pay their respects to the Healers of Aeridin before making their way to the Rofirein command center. When they arrive, High Protector Poetr exits his tent and surveys the armored column of Toranite knights with a raised brow. Sir Cedric presents himself and hands over a diplomatic pouch containing his orders and states. "High Protector Poetr, Lord Commander Stargazer has ordered us to Folian's Vale as an attachment to your forces, under your command. Where shall we set up camp Sir?
As they set up camp, Cedric gently reminds his men that they are to uphold the standards of Toran while on this joint operation, even while under Rofirein command. They all nod in understanding.
-
Gel'larian watches the Knights come in to the clearing and raises an eyebrow.
Something tells me the druids have their work cut out for them regardless of the outcome. I hope this is done soon.
-
Enzo roams Folians Vale speaking to each of the rangers on guard. Thanking them for their service and doing what he can to bolster them up. Stick to it lads.... Longstrider watch over each of you.
-
Enzo's actions have a definite impact in raising the morale of the rangers standing guard and patrolling the perimeter. Many of them share the sentiments of the archer Gel'larian, who has also been assisting with the defense of the grove. War always takes a toll on nature and the balance...
-
Daniel greets the Toranites with a smile on his face. As the newly arrived Knights settle in he familiarizes himself with each of them sharing a few kind words. "I know the worth of the warriors of your order, you are all most welcome here." Daniel makes it clear that they serve under thier own commander, but he will make suggestions of the group from time to time.
-
A few wandering druids have heeded Zigrum's call and have showed up in Folian's Vale. They begin preparing natural defenses and scouting the surrounding areas in animal form for signs of the dark elf menace. They meet with Enzo, Rory, and Gel'larian inquiring into the situation and seeking information on what has transpired thus far. They frown when they see the encampments of Toranite and Rofirein knights, whispering "We must end this and restore the balance."
-
*Zigruum's mood picks up when he senses his fellow friends of the forest arrive at Folian's Vale. He makes haste toward Folian's to meet up with them as well as Gel, Enzo and Rory to speak about what they've seen and determine the best way to bring the balance back to the Silkwood.*

//I've had a few PM's, and for the sake of good communication want to update everyone with the following:
Today's event http://forums.layonara.com/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=17990&day=2011-8-13&c=3 is one of three for this series. Today is open to dark elf players who will be accompanying Ni'haer to a meeting with a group of the invading dark elves. This meeting can have a significant impact on how things play out. We will see. Again, dark elves only. Those in jail will not be able to participate. This session will be RP heavy.
Early to mid-week next week will be Session two of the series and will be open to all players. The day and time are still open because I want to include as many of you as possible. My usual quest limit on players will not apply. Feel free to PM me with suggestions. This session will be combat heavy.
I'm planning the finale to be on Saturday the 27th. This session will also be combat heavy, and should conclude the series. My usual quest limit on players will not apply.
Any questions, please PM me. I'd like to keep this thread IC as much as possible.

Aesthir made his way into the Silkwood forest from Haven after completing his legal business and began following the trail of the Mithril Legion. He could tell the mercenary company was well disciplined and versed in unit tactics from the tracks and abandoned campsites he found. He estimated their numbers at approximately 25 Medium Calvary, and 3 to 5 scouts.
After several days of tracking, he pulled his horse up short and immediately drew his weapon and equipped his shield. As he entered a small valley in between two hills the indications and smell of battle became very noticeable. The ground was torn up, blood stained the leaves of bushes, an odd weapon or shield lay in the dirt. He could see no bodies though. The hair stood up on the back of his neck as he progressed further. It seemed common sense that a military unit would not leave weapons and armor lying about after a battle, and he could not see or hear any signs of life.
As he prodded his horse further, he discovered what happened. Hanging from the trees were approximately 30 humanoid shapes wrapped in cocoons of spider silk, many of them with dark elf arrows protruding from them. Cutting one opened revealed the face of a dead human, eyes wide open and full rigor set in. It appeared he had caught up with the Mithril Legion...
-
*Aesthir smirks looking at the bodies and shakes his head*
Seems that my orders are fullfilled now, i don't think this men are able to do any of the wrongs that Brother Daniel mentioned *this said in low voice mostly to himself *
**he inmediately after looks around making a note on his map of the forest , he takes note of the battle trials and tries to determine the course of the battle with the trials found , once done this , he takes a couple of banners of the felled company with him and start to head back towards Haven*
-
*Ygraine arrives at Folian's Vale and frowns at all the metal-clad people that are assembling. She wonders if it is worth taking a different form to assess more on the steadily worsening situation.*
-
*Some days later, Aesthir is seen returing to the Anti dark elf coalition camp, still riding his black steed, fast as northern wind, but at this moment he seems to be walking with presence, he first arrive to the campsite of the Rangers looking for Rory and other scouts. He speaks of the grim found of the mithril legion and will ask for help regarding the trails , he will tell her and Enzo's rangers about more once he presents the proper reporrt to the Rofirenites , he'll ask them to be ready to depart in case they are willing to help. *
*Once this situation is settled he approances Captain Daniel's tent with a slow stride, once he is there he asks to be announced, if Daniel shows himself Aesthir will extend his arm again for greeting then released*
Greetings Brother, There are several things i would like to speak with you to give you the report of what you requested, in private if you might like
**he smiles politely at him and awaits for his answer*
-
Gel'larian grows increasingly anxious as soldier after soldier pours in to sanctum of the Silkwood. Reports coming back from rangers on patrol only heightens the state. Shortly after the Druids begin arriving Gel'larian gears up and the ascends the tallest tree he can find.
-
Upon Aesthir's arrival Daniel is found outside speaking quietly to the newly arrived, Upon seeing his fellow Knight, Daniel dismisses those with him and greets hi, "Aye, Brother, what is it you have to report? Speak openly, my tent is small and stuffy. As you can see our small camp has *ahems* filled out this portion of Silkwood."
-
*Aesthir nods at him and after releasing the arm he pulls out and shows one of the standard of the Mithril Legion that he found , the standard would look battered and in bad shape*
-Those mercenaries should not be of your concern anymore Brother - *he speaks slowly and with a calm voice, not showing any emotion, if any a polite smile * - They were eliminated by our very enemies, I found them all of them dead on an ambush spot, I plan to go back to gather inteligence with some more resources than mine, but i am affraid that the trail has gone cold so far, yet it might be fruitful. We have to learn of this mercenaries thought since what i saw it was a formidable ambush *Aesthir narrates with luxury of detail the methods of capture and what he found on the ambush spot *
**he awaits for him to get the information and awaits for an answer from him*
-
Gel'larian returns to the Vale and beckons Enzo, the head Aeridinite Healer, and the head of the Toranite contingent to meet with the Rofireinite leadership. Once all are assembled that will come he speaks.
I fear there is something nefarious at work here. Using a Bird's vantage point I could observe something more of a pattern to the enemies movements. I am not sure what their end is, but they travel between the Spider Cave and that den of corruption known as Arindor's Demise. I think it is of dire importance to discover what their connection with that place is.
He sighs and folds his arms
-
Daniel offers Gel'larian a look of gratitude, "Good Work, now get your rest, sir. We leave for our first investigation of the Silkwood Cave in some eight hours or so."
//player event starts in 50 min.

The coalition scouting expedition from Folian's Vale, led by High Protector Poetr of the Rofiereins, quickly became a strike force as they made their way deeper into the Silkwood Spider Caves, linking up with other mercenaries who were already in the area seeking heads for the bounties offered by the Haven authorities. They met heavy dark elf resistance throughout the expedition, and debated turning back numerous times.
After a brutal fight at what they determined to be the end of the cave system, they uncovered construction supplies and what appeared to be a gate or portal under construction. Bodies of many of the missing peasants, wood cutters, and miners of the Silkwood were found in piles, animated as zombies, or impaled on spears. The last dark elf presence in this area was destroyed. They attempted to take a dark elf mage alive, but he swallowed a poisoned pill before he could be captured and died by his own hand. Rory and Enzo confirmed he was not the leader type individual they had seen on a previous scouting mission. Aesthir destroyed the etched diagram in the floor, severing the incomplete magical inscriptions and nullifying their power.
The party found a captured Toranite soldier, apparently gone mad from his capture blabbering about atrocities "they made him do." The Rofireins took him into custody for further questioning.
The woods in that area of the Silkwood began to immediately see less dark elf activity over the next few days, as if they were retreating to the dark bolt holes from which they sprung. This coincided with a slight increase in dark elf activity near Arindor's demise. Haven has mobilized patrols of their own in that area, reporting minor skirmishes.
In the next weeks attacks and sightings of dark elves near The Spider Caves are non-existent. The residents of Folians Vale have politely requested that the Rofirein and Toranite presence be withdrawn. They are thankful, but tensions and concerns over disruption of the natural world are high.
//PM's are still being composed for other parties with active actions in progress. It may take a few days, please be patient as I have many. ;)
Ell and Lance, the translation RP for the note is still foremost in my mind, and still has a lot of importance in regards to knowing what has happened and why.
My dark elf player faction who were involved and had interest, there are possible tangets for you to follow from this, if you choose to seize the opportunities.
GM Brewmaster will be handling the additional RP the Toranite prisoner is going to provide. This may turn into a new quest tangent for him if pursued.
Thank you for a great time with this. It has been tons of fun and many hours of enjoyment for me!!

*notes made public by the Rofirienite lawbringers taking the prisoner into custody*
The prisoner has identified himself as "Turian", once known among those of the Toranite clergy as a paladin of the Order of the Longsword. Sir Cedric of Toran remembers him as one of the men he had gathered to purge the evil of the dark elves in Silkwood, fearing him taken below, once hopeful that he had fled the battle to the topside. Up until his capture, he has had an impeccable record of virtue and self sacrifice, though the details of his interrogations since then are most troubling.
Thus far, the prisoner is deemed mentally unfit to stand a proper trial, even though he has admitted to many atrocities unbefitting a paladin of his order. In the interim, he has been stripped of his title by the Order of the Longsword and has been taken into joint-custody in the Temple of Toran in Ft. Llast. He has since admitted to the crimes of torture, murder, unholy sacrifice, cannibalism, partaking in forbidden rituals of the dark elves, dereliction of his post, and supplying intelligence to the enemy, albeit under an extreme case of coercion. It is said by him that he no longer feels the light of Toran for these crimes. The clergy of Toran, when observing him under divine guidance, find that he no longer bears His holy favor.
He is under constant watch by both the Lawbringers of Rofirien and Protectors of Toran for fear that he may harm himself and others in the aberrant state in which he is currently in. His once friend and confidante Cedric of the Order of the Longsword holds a constant vigil over his safekeeping, urging any who knew him well to come forward and assist with the healing process of his mind, heart & soul, as any others are asked who may have talents in such areas. It is imperative that his mind be mended so that he may stand a proper trial for his crimes, and more importantly, relinquish the details of what he has witnessed while in custody of the Dark elf cult of Silkwood.
-
*Enzo reads the public notice and sighs heavily before muttering under his breath*
Stand trial for his crimes? Has this poor man not suffered enough?
-
Daniel lead a group of Knights and Protectors back to the cave complex. After battling their way through the now greatly diminished natives, they set upon the task of recovering what bodies they can and prepare them for transport and burial. All those of the Toranite faith are carefully covered and removed to Fort Llast. Some of these are marked as evidence. Locals who can be recognized are sent home to kin. Finally, after many days of handling the fallen, Daniel gives the order for the Rofirein's to strike camp from Folian's Vale and relocate to Haven City. The Demise must be investigated next as it is tied to Silkwood in some way.
//Thanks to Rory, Aesthir, Lana, Keela, Sharyn, Helper, Amireana, Gimli, and all else who I participated, if I missed you here, blame crs. Special thanks to Gel'larian for his forum rp and getting this rolling with Daniel. Kudos to the DM's - Brewmaster, Nimrod, and Ravemore.

**Once again Aesthir comes to Daniel's tent having being interrupted before*
Greetings brother, there is somethig that perhaps you woud like to have as well, just in case , our previous meting and our duties didn't mixed well .
**he present him a document folded to him*
There . This is the support of the city for our crusade, Now the actions we are persuing are legal and chartered by Haven castle. This is a charter that allow us to actually persue this since it seems that the city didn't request the help formally, but this will cover it.
We might have to be wary now since *Smirks* what you asked me to do of control on the mercenaries companies, its not likely posible, they are chartered and the goverment allows them to act freely without any chain of command that tie them to anyone. So if we have other of this companies we might try to convince them to join us, but we can't legally force them if make sense . I'll be leaving once the scouts are ready there is a cold trail that might lead to somewhere still .I'll be back hopefully in a couple of days .Lets hope that that Toranite has not killed himself by then
**he looks at him and awaits for his answer*
-
Daniel waves dismissively at the document after reading it, "So we have authority by a principality for our actions, so be it. Brother, do you truly think the victims care if we do?" Daniel eyes are red with weeping. "Forgive me, I am overwrought with the duties of conveying the dead. You are in the right of course, permission must be sought and received and it is good of you to think of this." He sighs, "As for the mercenary companies, let them do what they will, I care not as long as dark elves receive the Gold's justice in the end."
Daniel places an arm on Aesthir's shoulder, "In the toranite matter, do what you can for Turian, my brother, but do not hope overly much. The Toranites are prickly about 'meddling' and I assure you, they will see our actions as such should we press them." He drops his hand back to his side. "I will look for you in some weeks time. May the Dragon bless your efforts."
-
**he nods slowly *
I won't bring more words with the risk of having another diference of opinion, On the subjects you mentioned, I'd rather ask you to keep that document just in case your actions are questioned by the city now that the campsite is being moved towards their walls. I'll see you back at Haven in some days then. **he pats his shoulder and moves away towards the scout campment*
**Once there he asks to Enzo, Rory or Gel ( in that order ) If his request for a scout was granted in order to follow a trail found some distance away to where the Mithril Legion was found , awaiting for answer *
-
Aesthir finds Gel'larian conversing with some Aeridinites.
I can help you, but I think we should go see what the enemy has brewing in Arindor's Demise. Why don't we head that way and see if the Mithril Legions trail heads towards or away from that Pit.
-
Gel'larian speaks with a few druids of the grove regarding Aeridenites working alongside the Folianites of the area to help search the woods for signs of undead corruption and dark elve magics. In the days to come, a few select teams assemble and scour the area using the skill balance between Folianite trackers, Aeridenite priests and Paladins and a few druids of the oak. The Aeridenites from the city seem to have a better reception to the woodlands that the Toranites oor Rofirienites due to their mindset of the santity of life and preservation of nature.
Though little sign of the dark elves are found by the trackers, more than a few wandering zombies and unnaturally large and venomous spider nests are found in the area. These are purged from the sancitity of the woods proper as quickly as they are found.
-
*After the group broke up, Sharyn shifted her heavy pack and made her way westward finally making her way to Haven. She moves up to the desk of the officer and drops her pack on the floor.*
The trophies you requested and said you'd pay for ... *She pulls out wooden boxes and stacks them on the corner of his desk, each one sporting blood-soaked stains and the stench of death. It takes no time at all for flies to converge upon the gruesome containers.*
15. You're welcome to open and go through the boxes to verify my count.
*After collecting her coin, she walks outside and breathes deep of the cool air. She furrows her brow at what she had done, but she needed the coin. Her mother had told her there would be days like this. She didn't believe it then ... [Sighs]*
-
The Haven Officer quickly calls a subordinate after verification of the heads and payment to the adventurer and orders they be taken to the city walls and put on pikes.
-
As Daniel enters Haven with his retinue, he stops at the heads mounted on the wall, "How utterly barbaric, the Corrupter himself must smile when he sees such displays." He says sourly before dismounting. "See the horses, Men, then setup camp. Patrols will begin as soon as all is in readiness."
-
After the Rofirein camp is set up, patrols begin shortly thereafter in conjunction with Haven forces already in the field. Over the course of about a week not a single dark elf has been sighted. An occasional undead is found wandering around Arindor's Demise, but nothing out of the ordinary has been noted.
