I had this issue as well with a group, some months ago . We were trying to find a way in but the trap kept springing and we were unable to get the door open or the chest inside the tower.

SehKy was on this trip with Tane, and a couple of other previous trips as well with the same issue.  On one of the previous trips I remember Gel saying that it was a well known issue; I assumed there was a bug report already out there.  - Mad

This is working as intended.  The key is not intended for the door.
