Title: Turn elementals with earth domain
Post by: Pen N Popper on March 01, 2012, 10:47:50 PM
Can someone confirm that turn undead works on elementals when you have earth domain? Should an 8th lvl cleric be able to turn "huge earth elementals?" I don't know the mechanics.

LORE: Clerical Domains (http://lore.layonara.com/Clerical%20Domains#Earth)

The ability to turn (undead, elemental, vermin) has to do with the cleric's level vs. the Hit Dice of the creature(s) being turned.

The mechanics are here: LORE: Turn Undead (http://lore.layonara.com/Turn%20Undead)

Substitute "elemental" for "undead" and that should basically be it.

I've seen Plenarius turn elementals in the deep...big ones.  I dont think you can turn a creature that has a higher level than your "adjusted" cleric/paladin level.

The forumula for turning is actually fairly complicated (http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Turn_undead). I'm not sure if Layonara has modified the forumula.

Edit:  Looks like Dorg beat me!  Erm what he said :)

I see, so for Honeybee at 8th level she probably failed the "turn level" criteria for huge earth elementals (16 hit dice?). The range would be 4 to 12 that she could have a chance of turning.

Thanks!
