Title: Copper Throwing axe failure
Post by: Guardian 452 on May 09, 2012, 09:08:55 AM
Not sure if this would be considered a bug or a CNR suggestion (so move if needed)

Crafting Copper Throwing axes takes the following

9 Ingots of Copper
2 Hickory Shafts
2 Small Molds

If you fail you get 1 Mangled copper back. I cannot say if this is the same for the other Crafted Throwing Axe recipes (Bronze, iron, etc.)... but I would guess it is.

Most weapon (and armor) crafting I believe you get roughly 1/2 the metal back on a failed attempt. I would like to request the same for Copper Throwing Axes (and the other throwing axe recipes)... In the the case of an odd number like 9 going in 4 mangled would (should) be returned on failure to maintain consistency.

Thanks for considering this.

The quantity of mangled metal returned from weapon and armor crafting is not universally 1/2 the number of ingots used in the crafting recipe.  In fact, what I'm seeing here is that most weapons only return 1 piece (with a few exceptions that return 2 pieces) of mangled metal despite taking anywhere from 2-6 ingots (and in a few cases, 10 ingots).

Armor crafting seems to much more closely follow the 50% convention.
