Title: *The meeting for the faiths, united against a famine*
Post by: Lance Stargazer on June 20, 2012, 02:17:32 PM
**The day breaks when the disposed place on the home of the Smithdotter estate is prepared to receive the representatives of the various faiths, the environment is tense since the family is not quite happy of late with the Rofirenite church despite being given a lot of money in donations to them in the last two years *

*The Toranites arrive at the day and hour said, Sir Robert approaching the house alongside , Raelyn and Willam Leox, priestess and Paladin respectively, and other 3 acolytes escorting them.*

*The Prunillite sappling comming as well from the north and presenting herself on the Smithdotter estate, the encounter beetwen them its a bit tense, but with Marion serving as a host she has been seen preparing the metting and working alongside with the household to work with the acomodations *

*The room is ready by the time The Rofirenites arrive for the meeting*

Dressed in freshly shined armor, Daniel waits for Sister Amireana in the street outside the home.

A little later than perhaps she would have thought, the lady finally approaches Daniel, her hair pulled back gently in a way that softens her features, and brings out her amethyst colored eyes even more. She speaks softly to him, "My apologies for keeping you waiting My Friend."

"Not at all, Dear sister." Daniel offers his arm and moves toward the door. "Let us see if our efforts bear fruit, eh?"  He knocks firmly.

*You two are escorted into the room for the meeting where the Toranites and the Prunillites are already acomodated, servants of the house escort you both towards the designated seats for the meeting, once there the Prunillite waves her small hand towards you as Robert nods his head with Raelyn and Willam beside him representing the Toranites *

WE have come as promised Sir Knight *the man speaks in thunderous but gently voice*

*the Prunillite rolls her eyes at that and simply looks over Daniel and Amireana expectantly *

Daniel ahems quietly, then offers his best smile to the assembled, "Firstly, I thank all of you for your attendance.  As you may or may not know, my sole purpose is to execute the instructions I have shown some of you in the hopes of alleviating this famine."  Daniel spreads the instructions as he has them out on a table. "As you can see, there remains several things that are rather vague.  For example, the location for the ceremony."  Daniel looks to the Prunillians hopefully.

Wearing a plain heavy travel cloak with a small ankh stitched into the neck seam with grey thread, William follows Sir Robert and keeps close to Raelyn, carrying a large share of the load in a huge backpack so Sir Robert and Raelyn could travel more lightly.
The simple, albeit already scratched and dusted armor is largely covered bt he cloak, and would it not be Sacrifice's pommel poking out beneath it, one could have taken him for a squire. That, of course, had been on the road.

Sir Poetr.

He rose from his chair without letting the parchment folder go and smiled towards the man and the woman on his side, offering a quick and court nod before sitting down again. His demeanor appears foreign quite a bit, but his calm and simple composure do not make him stand out much in the round of the gathered people.

*The Sappling Bunnete smiles upon Daniel as she looks over their group*

Are we here indeed with some information that may prove useful, but sadly as i told you before there has been no traces or knowledge of any of this ritual upon our sisters,  and as it was pointed out there is nothing on the lore and wisdom of the elders that speaks of such specific thing as you mentioned it, so our assumption is that its either any poopies which would be part of "our" side of the ritual aside the blessed crops , or where the famine started, the point is that there is nothing that may point a very specific place or day or situation. .

*She looks at him * Yet your guess on the bindstone is as good as mine*

Do you think it would be good to start defining such thing first?  or shall we start with the information given .

*Marion takes the word as she has been serving as Moderator and "diplomat " beetwen the faiths*

I do agree that before starting with the information, the point for the ritual has to be decided otherwise it would be all for naught, *She speaks to the group * But guess first question would be.. its the meaning or our gathering here clear for everyone?

"An excellent suggestion, Marion.  I concur completely.  The information, "Daniel taps the two scraps of parchment on the table"  Aye, I would hear the thoughts of all here about it."

Quote
The note written in red ink reads as a ritual or recipe,

 "Cure for Famine

Gather 5 true Toranites in a circle holding hands.

Carry 5 different tokens of the Dragon

Carry 5 pure crops blessed by Prunilla

Gather in prayer at ...

(Someone has torn off the last part of the page)"

(This appears to be the bottom part of a torn scroll)

when you have gathered the people and ingredients at a place where poppies freely grow under a full moon each must repeat aloud
See, hear, and drive outwards near and far heal the land
This  will gradually heal the land outward in a circle from that point. If  the curse is particularly powerful the spell may need to be repeated at a  similar location and time.

*Sir Robert Nods slowly but and gestures to the other two Toranites present to speak their questions if have some *

I do understand the part of our duty here and Six of us have come to this meeting, with the intent to help with this ritual. And yet our leaders have questions that i'd like to be answered once we set this part of the meting.

*The Prunillite nods as well * The five blessed crops have been prepared and carried for the ritual, I don't see on this ritual why the participation of the Sapplings would be needed, why i consider the poppies flowers as part of the "Prunillite" side of the ritual. *She shrugs*  We have some other information as well that we'd like to share as well once we pass this part of the meeting.

- What about the golden tokens ? - *She adds after that *

*Marion replies towards that, pulling out five round compasses made of gold tied to silvery chains held high and with reverence *  We thought in agreement with Sir Daniel that they may refer to our holy symbols blessed by the members of our faith, additionally i've brought five keys from the library and had them blessed , the library where our sacred law is stored and serve us as guide on our endeavors for honor and virtue, which i thought may serve as well with the "cryptic" part of the riddle, A token of knowledge of our law would be as sacred and would give a reason for the "token" use on the riddle, but i defer of this use to our brothers here, *she adds quickly * since this was done on self initiative.  For that case the holy symbols and the keys are ready for use.

*She returns the word to the rest in case there are any questions*

"I see no flaws in the logic, merely some vagueness in where to perform our prayers and perhaps to a small degree the tokens, myself.  The bindstone in Hlint may suffice, the location is fairly remote and in the heart of what used to be good farmland. " Daniel says hopefully.  "It seems to myself; however, that perhaps our first attempt should be kept in some secrecy as to not raise the hopes of the commoners.  I remain skeptical of the source of this ritual especially since none of the Prunillian lore seems to validate it.  None the less, I will proceed on the shred of hope it offers."  Daniel looks around at each of the representatives to gauge their resolve.

*Marion speaks*

And what is that disagreement Sir Knight?  and what you prefer to use then?

*Robert nods slowly* On that I agree, its not glory what we shoudl seek and even if our intent remains unremembered as long as the prosperty for the land returns, its something that may be tried.

*The prunilite speaks* Hlint you said?  Do you think we could find the proper red flowers there ?

*And awaits*

Post by: cbnicholson on June 22, 2012, 02:01:02 PM
"No disagreement, merely some healthy skepticism.  As for the location of Hlint, as I recall there  are flowers aplenty about the bindstone there, if my memory is faulty then Center may have to do after all."

*She smiles * Indeed, some degree of mistrust is always healthy as Master Aesthir says indeed .

*Robert interposes here *

In this it may be important a couple of things. *he speaks softly*  First, acording to this parchment it speaks of the place as this, there are some questions that our leaders has on this.

Its on your investigation any remarks that leads towards a moth, or a coocoon, or a equine black figure ?

Also its important to point out that we are supposed to be attacking where the Famine start, yet I do agree on the Captain logic on this. Hlint may be a good start if this "ritual" extends as it speaks of.

*he return the sight to the rest of the people in the group  *

Amireana offers respectfully to the gathered, "As I recall most of the flower in Hlint are actually closer to the Ilsarian temple."

---------------------------------------------------------
Raelyn listens respectfully her own thoughts puzzling over the riddle and the situation. "If we go there, they may want to know what is going on. The gathering would hardly be inconspicous. Surely the guards will ask questions."

*Sir Robert looks about awaiting still for the reply of the question he did to the Rofirenites or the Prunillites *

*The sappling replies *  First time ever i heard of such things, but perhaps the Sir Knight here may be able to reply to that. And what has that to do with anything? *she speaks a bit explosive in the end **

*Sir Robert nods at the Sappling and replies*  I would like to hear about the answer to our leaders questions before speaking more.   *he looks upon the Rofirenites after that apparently happy with the Prunillite answer*

If you consider it important, yes .. i do think that knowing the origin is important, I know the origin as you told me, but not all here may know it, so it may be a good start yes

"Very well,  the reason I remain skeptical is because both of these 'instructions' were discovered in the Bullseye tavern..specifically, tossed in among the *ahems* baking tables." Daniel blushes slightly as he finishes.  "It was one of the reasons why I argued so long with Sister Amireana here as I did, the origin is very suspect, but.." He composes himself, " I feel that cooperation among the faiths may at the very least hold some hope even if this all comes to naught but a terrible hoax."

*The prunillite frowns*
If all those drunk people stopped drinking and get them to work less of this Famine we would be suffering

*The council nods at the reasoning*

*Then sir Robert speaks*

What factors are we determining for the starrting point then?  the information we have on where the famine started or just a general central area?

*The man nods slowly* The central place its it then .. Fine I have no objections on that, just wanted to make sure we were all on the same page.

Allow me to speak some of the information we have, that may show some light into this situatiion, this information put me to doubt a bit more on the ritual itself and yet it won't be the first time that the cure may have to be composed on several efforts.

The questioning about the moths and the equine shapes comes from information on the temple, As we have come to an agreement we should act with caution on this because of the delicate nature of the subject .

Our leaders have informed us of some dark elf involvement on all this thing.

**he pulls out a couple of letters and reads aloud*

Quote
Brothers and Sisters of the Faith,

I have met with a contact, who will remain anonymous, regarding a symbol that was found on a group of dark elves when we were investigating the blight.

The symbol belongs to a clan or house of dark elves called the Ur'thal Skagvin'larie. The Ur'thal Skagvinlarie are known to be associated with an ancient prophecy that supposedly foretold the return of Sinthar Bloodstone as well as the defeat of the Demon Lords by Xandrial and the return of the dragons to Layonara. It is said that these things must happen and then the Vin'larie will return along with the Sons and Daughters of the Mother of Darkness to reclaim the surface of the world for themselves.

Upon asking more of the Vin'larie, it was said that these creatures were once created as creatures whose sole purpose was to feed and strengthen the dragons. But in the moment of their creation, the Mother of Darkness put in a drop of her own blood and fed into it all of her hatred and malice and corruption, thereby creating the Vin'larie. This is obviously a myth since the tales do not coincide as far as history shows, however, it does show that it is acknowledged that the Vin'larie are creatures of evil. They exist in the Deep along with the dark elves, but have recently been seen on the surface in conjunction with the blight.

As far as the moths, or Pit Moths as they have been called, they are known possibly also as "aaa", or even butterflies depending on the translation. These aaa are said to be like whispers in the dark, heralding the presence of the Mother of Darkness. They flock to her.

This is no small thing that we are dealing with. We must defend our homes against those of the Deep that seek to destroy and overtake it.

Of rumors that I have heard regarding a ritual to solve the problem, I would only ask if this ritual mentions any of the above mentioned information before taking it entirely seriously.

In the Light of the Hand of Virtue,

*then unrolls another one and reads *

Quote
_ Brothers and sister in the faith.

This indeed has been something that has come to gesture slowly upon the last 100 years, the Vin'larie are not new to the land and had been appearing before the famine happened, This creature to those who doesn't know what they are, have equine form with a single horn on the middle of the eyes, they are of black hair and they are indeed of magical nature, they can't be tracked naturally since their trails disappears almost instantly once they pass for a place, They are as our sister Daniella highly dangerous, I've crossed singular combat with one and must say that there are indeed formidable foes, none of us fell on that combat, but one of our brothers fell against it, Strongly caution is recommended on the deals with this creature.

This have some antecedents, back in time about 20 years , there was an attack on the Northern of Co'rrys where a whole village was wipped out, on that time a single dark elven dagger was found that poiinted out under a process of scrying towards a city in the deep, this is the first time I learned about the Vin'larie, but they become silent after this events. It may be they were testing or that other attacks were missed by all the troubles we have under on the last years.

Now this attack to this small village its quite likely as other that happened recently upon the area of Alindor, in the Barony of Green, A whole village gone and one Folianite priest was killed and apparently used in a ritual, Investigations in the Barony are in order.

I've also heard nothing of the said ritual and the questions that my sister in Faith has done concerns me as well.

By the light of Toran , be careful on this, stand bravely and vigilant .

*The man looks at the group with expecting eyes*

*The prunillite looks a bit bored when the knight start to read then blinks*

We have reports of the said moths sightings on the crops, but we haven't found any of those. So not sure what to believe

*Robert speaks calmly upon the news revealed*

I am concerned indeed about that case Sir Daniel and esteemed company, its something that may come to us on this time of need that this may brought to us, the famine hits us in a time when the food is crucial after the war, the scars of the war in Belinara still put the world at stake, I know that this may bring new light and probably if our information its right the ritual may have nothing to do with it, still as you mentioned it, if it doesn't work it maybe just a very well planed Hoax.

The next question is.. what we will do now?

Raising her eyebrow slightly at the reaction of Robert, and tries to notice if there are any other similar reactions from those around the plot of ground, or if maybe the location could have some effects on their mood or if it is just Robert.

Daniel nods slightly, "Forgive me then, I had to be certain.  You see, new information has come to my attention that this blight is caused by the presence of a certain type of pit creature, a larvea of the moth you spoke of.  I had to be sure it was still not present else our efforts would be for naught."  Daniel motions for the assembled to form a circle around the poppy bed. *Then the Prunillite jumps*  You just wanted to find an excuse to destroy the flowers don't you?

*To that Robert turn his eyes towards the halfling for a moment as if regarding a kid, then looks towars Daniel * But .. that would indeed destroy the flowers as the lady here said before i was able to finish my statement .

*The Rest of the Toranites gathers around in a circle , and the Prunilites does as well *

Daniel regards Robert gravely, "No, sir, tis my hope to not have to dig any of these flowers from their beds, but we may have need to cultivate them a little with a bit of dung. " His eyes glint slightly in amusement.  "For now, we must focus our healing into the soil, like so." Daniel calls forth the healing white fire inside himself and sends it outward a few yards, focusing it as deeply into the soil as he can. "By doing so I hope to remove the taint that may remain, even an undiscoverable one."  He asks each of those capable of channeling positive healing energy to do the same.

Raelyn understandingly focus' her own healing blessings from Toran into the soil as requested hoping to heal the earth, praying softly as she holds to her ankh.

Amireana continues to be there supportive with Daniel but does not interrupt the discussion.

*The ritual passes, Marion aproaches with the other 3 pendants with the logo, and she herself start to pray upon the ritual *

*The Toranites holding hands and they calling upon the positive energy, as they can, the unfolding of the energies making the area to feel clean, the air almost feels clean of urbanization *

*The casting and the ritual finishes ...... *

..... There is no apparent chenge on the area right now.

Daniel opens his eyes after the last prayers fade. "Tis my hope that we have healed the land, but only hard work will truly restore it.  As I understand the effects of the Pit creatures, some measure of vitality must be restored to the ground before things will grow as before.  Much as the leaves of the forest floor replenish the trees, something must be returned to the soil." Daniel turns to the Prunillians with a hopeful look. "What does your order recommend for such things?"

*The halfling looks upon Daniel*  Please stop us calling us an "order" please.

For now I do think that some days of observation will do so, but i am not sure what the effect of the ritual will be, i was not expecting a magical recovery of the plants on that, but maybe, just maybe the soil will be able to grow new sprouts after this, nothing to be done but to observe, I'd recoment observation for one week or so, then we'll see about how the land is being treated .

Daniel frowns at the request then nods, "Very well.  I apologize for calling your faith an order and will refrain from doing so again." He squints at the prunillian a moment then mutters, "If they are not an order then they may just be in disorder, I say." He shrugs and continues, "  Simply wait and observe eh?  I do believe I may leave that to the Ilsarians, it is their bloody field of flowers after all."  Daniel rubs his nose vigorously, suppressing a sneeze. "Now , I believe our work here is done."  Daniel stops and looks at each of the parties, Toran and Prunillian alike. "I must thank you for allowing an old priest a bit of whimsy and perhaps a touch of hope.  Whether we succeed here or no is up to the gods."

Raelyn watches between the two, and speaks up offering her thoughts. "If it is not a problem I could stay here and deliver word when there is something to report?"

Daniel harrumps quietly then nods, "Fine , fine, Priestess Raelyn, was it not? Thank you for volunteering, I have no objections, do you?" He turns his gaze to the Prunillian.

She waits for final word from the prunillians if they will accept her, or not, respectfully knowing this is a group effort and all should agree.

*The prunillites nods at Daniel's words, *

If it works it may work and yes since this is their garden - the young halfking speaks -  I think its the most appropiate thing to do.

If you wish to stay or no, well that is for you to decide miss * to Raelyn*

"I can stay, I would like to, and to know our efforts bear fruit." Raelyn offered softly.

Amireana offered to Daniel as she stood near by. "I can watch over her she doesn't look like much of a fighter, even with all that armor covering her."

"If you do not mind, Mylady, I would stay as well. Unless I am needed elsewhere." William smiles at Raelyn a bit shyly. "There's work to be done here - as a paladin and a craftsman."

Raelyn smiles at William, and then offers to the others. "I would welcome his company."

Amireana looking between them offers kindly, "I am sure you would Priestess Raelyn, I am sure I can keep them out of trouble." She offers to Daniel reassuringly. "Unless you have other plans for me?"

Daniel shakes his head, "By all means, Sister Amireana, be my eyes in this matter." Daniel only partially stifles a good sneeze that comes on suddenly. "Pardon me, I really  should be on my way.  I look forward to any future news, Sister Amireana."
