Charlie popped the brick activating the secret door behind the Buckle then looked around, eyes scanning the shadows. Satisfied his actions were unnoticed, he slipped in, tripping the closing lever. Moving slowly, senses other than sight at full alertness, he felt for the button to open the inside door in the dark confines of the crawlspace. After his nimble fingers found it, he disarmed the nasty spike trap he'd left many months ago, hit the button and crawled inside. It was then he noticed the changes. "oh oh"..
-
There is no one in the room and no noise in the basement save some water dripping somewhere. Charlie's old room is still sparse and now holds only one bookshelf and a few chests; the cot is gone as is the chair for the desk.
-
Charlie shrugged, "Guess it was jest me imagination playin tricks." He studied the odd shadow against the far wall for a few more moments, before stepping out into the hallway. "I wonder iffn Kat's still got that tub in her room..I need a bath." he sniffs himself wrinkling his nose then bounces up the stairs. "Hey..anybody here, I'm back!"
-
Kat looks up from her work in the clinic and says, "Excuse me a minute, please."
Walking out into the hall, she sees Charlie and smiles. "Hi, Charlie! I'm glad you're back, but...Andrew has some new tenants. I don't know whether there's still a room for you, or not. If not, come see me and we'll talk."
-
*Jetta chimes in as she walks by*
"And use the front door next time you come in. I'm obviously going to have to rig some new secuirty on the 'back door'. It's only supposed to be used in emergencies."
-
In the background, a dwarven lass drags chests about the corridors, occasionally stopping to puff at her fringe.
-
With a slight blush, Charlie nods at Jetta's words, "Um, sure thing, Jetta." He then turns to Katelyn, "Wow, lots goin on round here..so ya think Mister Andy won't have a room fer me anymore?" He grins. "Guess I could bunk in yer room, Kat."
-
*A Melodious giggle is heard at his comment from around the corner*
-
Kat gives Charlie an icy stare. "We'll talk about it later."
-
"oh..erm", Charlie's usual cheerfulness withers away. "Why dun we talk now? I seem ta um. " frowns a nearby giggle. "Have nothin better to do."
-
"Privately," says Kat. "I'm busy in the clinic right now."
-
Charlie nods, "Fine fine, guess I'll go unpack..Ya know where Mister Andy might be?"
-
Charlie looks around for the tell tale trail of cigar smoke and takes a step in that direction before stopping. "Second thought, mabe I ken help ya out in the clinic. I ain't got much ta stow anyway." He trails after her.
-
Kat has Charlie scrub his hands and then shows him how to mash garlic and aloe into a paste, soak the center of a long strip of cloth, and then roll the resulting bandage so as to keep the healing material safely inside and ready for use.
While they work, she whispers: "With all that's going on, I'd feel better having you living here again, so if it's alright with Andrew, you may share my room. We can find a bedroll for you, I'm sure." She waits for his response.
