Description: After depositing 8 chunks of Titanium ore into the Bank Persistent Chest for storage, I logged off about 2 AM this morning after having opened and closed the chest twice to re-arrange things and ensure it was working. Now 8 hours later when I try accessing the chest in Center's Craft Hall (the same place as where I stored the ore last night) I am being denied access to both chests and being told in red writing I am already using one. Not sure if simply dont get the system or this is bugged because it seems to be the latter. I was told these were alright to use for storage.
Location: Center Craft Hall Vault section
Reproducable: Logged off and back on, no change or fix. Haven't tried a different bank yet since if I could access the chests there but not here then this place is definently bugged or it would'nt make any sense.

You logged off within the vicinity of a bank chest; known "feature".
-
And the solution for this known "feature" for any who don't know about it is?
-
A GM has to take care of it in-game. Try an flag one down either in the DM channel or come onto IRC. Alternately, arrange a time when one can meet you in-game.

I use the Search functionality, perhaps even before I post a bug.

If this is known why is it not either fixed or had a warning written into the Bank Persistent chest descriptions?

It's not "fixed" because it's working as intended. For various reasons, the flag check is intentionally written into the chest code, because it helps to address multiple other problems, one of which being chests which would never close and thereby lose their contents, which was a much bigger issue. There were other issues this helped resolve as well.
This only happens when one logs out too close to a bank chest. Honestly, it's been over a year since this has happened (if memory serves), or at least in a public enough way to be brought to the forums. The flag that gets set on a character when using a chest and cleared when done. It's nearly impossible, however, to clear that flag away when the character logs out, because NWN destroys the game object that corresponds to the character, and so scripts have little to nothing to work with.
As for why it hasn't been written into the description of the bank chest...*shrugs* It wasn't. When this side-effect of the check was discovered, the cause was soon discovered and at the time it became common knowledge among the community. Granted, that was a while ago, but I would guess the guy who wrote that particular bit of code didn't see a need to do so. It likely never crossed his mind. I know it didn't cross my mind. Yes, that's a reason, not an excuse, but maybe it suggests why it's not been a priority...that and there's fairly good odds the description wouldn't be read, and for the amount of time it would take to find and change all bank chests in-game, there's likely a more efficient way to go about informing people not to log out by bank chests.
Anyway, flag down a GM. It's a quick and easy fix, but it has to be done in-game.

And a note of caution, this also happens with player placed chest. At least it did happen to me.

That's nice.... So because you search before asking, its assumed everyone else who plays here does as well? Maybe if you didnt feel like posting the fix... you could have at least said do a forum search.
If you took your car into the garage because you heard a funny noise and they said ... "yep that's a known issue" and sent you down the road without telling you how to fix it, or how they can fix it for you, would you be pleased with such a response?

Guardian is being more diplomatic. Personally i am seeing a response that makes me feel as if you are trying to be a smart *** by the way you've worded that. So take it elsewhere if this was indeed your intention, thanks.

OK enough....everyone.
If you're going to snipe at each other, do it in private.

Both Dezza and Pseudonym have tried to help fix the issue in game but we got nowhere. Nym still can not access the original chest or any other type of chest on the server without that message cropping up and preventing access to the item's inventory. So unless a GM knows a fix for this, Dezza has suggested a server reset. I am online now if anyone has the know-how and time to help and/or reset server.
-
Servers are going on 280+ up hours... its funny in years past they would have crashed long ago due to instability. Curse you stable servers! (yes im jokeing. Having a stable server is awesome.)
At any rate, maybe they can go ahead and do a reset and that oughta take care of the issue then?

I've bumped the appropriate procedure for GMs. Likely they were using the wrong fix.
I don't have time right now for a server reset and likely won't for a while. Hopefully those who helped you previously will see my post and apply the correct fix.

Any GMs likely to be around 8PM (GMT+1) Sunday to help me fix this thing?
-
Post here (http://forums.layonara.com/ask-gamemaster/) for best results, or try the DM channel in-game or our IRC channel. I don't know how frequently GMs monitor bug report threads for requests for assistance.

Resolved thanks to Innorin
