General Discussion / Re: Some thoughts« on: May 12, 2006, 03:17:57 PM »
I was under the impression you couldn't get any kind of crafting exp while ghosted? (I never wanted to waste materials trying.) Although I would still rather be out RPing that is one possible option although I might just give up now before the frustration gets me I haven't actually decided yet.

I normally play during eastern prime time but only about once a week or so for now until after I get married in July. (Well I hope things will slow down then.)
Even an hour wouldn't be as bad as then as long as I was super careful I would still have an hour where I could do some normal RP. 3

I'm ok with the death system I think its great. I'm not saying no penalty every time I die I get an adrenaline rush of am I one more token closer to perma death. I'm even ok with ghost mode just not for 2 hours. I stood around for roughly 30 minutes and saw only one or two low level characters who where running off to who knows where.
You can't always help dying such as running to the port and getting ambushed by a bunch of wiggling vines and stuff after entering the area. (That was the most recent cause.) There where 4 or 5 of us and they just ate us up for breakfast. I would hardly say I'm dying frequently as currently with one death I'm normally done for the night unless I can get some people together to help me get my body. Some times I can frequently when I die I can't. 4

With the risk of getting closer to perma death how can you even say people are going to act stupid.
Even if there was no other penalty than the risk of dying that lone should be a major fear. (Not that I'm suggesting there should be no penalty other than perma death.) Thats a bad attitude of to bad don't die. The only way some one can guarantee to almost never die would be to never leave hlint and that would make for some very repetative boring RP. 5

I lost hundreds of thousands of xp as well back before the change. If I can play maybe once a week (twice right now if I'm lucky) I die that means I'm screwed until next week and it is a big deal.
You may enjoy spending 2 hours RPing in Hlint I don't. While its ok from time to time I consider Hlint to be a starting ground. I'll RP there for a while try to find some people to go some where else as I don't fancy RPing in the same 2 area's the rest of my RP career. At least with the XP loss it never hindered my RP just my level progression. 2 hours is fine if you can play 4 hours a night after night but when you can only play for 2 hours here or there its not. 6
General Discussion / RE: Chaotic what?« on: November 04, 2005, 07:06:00 AM »
If I was surrounded by guards with swords drawn and was told to lick the floor and I could see no other way out I'd ask them "How big an area you want licked?" Of course with such humiliation I'd probably find some way to get back at them. Something subtle though maybe leaving a burning present on the door step for them to step on to put out with there foot. :]
I agree though a Chaotic person follows the laws as long as it suits them and even when breaking them they're not necessarily going to have people be aware that they're breaking them. It would be like a thief breaking into a home during broad daylight because he thought laws against stealing where dumb. He'd do it at night and try not to get caught so he'd have more freedoms during the day with people thinking he was a law abiding citizen.

General Discussion / RE: Chaotic what?« on: October 31, 2005, 08:34:00 AM »Quote miltonyorkcastle - 10/31/2005 11:27 AM reminds me of Tomi from the single-player game (who I always used as my henchman because I never ceased to laugh at, "Here comes halfling death!!!") Because he would >prefer< not to leave a friend high and dry, but would do so to save his own hide, I see the character as Chaotic Neutral. At least starting out. Who knows, the poor sod might finds friends he is willing to die for. The question is, have you played on the server long enough and met the RP req's with the DM to be allowed to submit a Chaotic Neutral character? If not, wait to submit this character or submit him as Chaotic Good (since you claim he is borderline, I don't think it would compromise his character too much). I suggest waiting, or revising the character to make him slightly more good.Tomi Undergallows sums him up perfectly if some one wanted a comparison. As for playing long enough yes I have but I still need to get Tokkel to level 10 if I decide to go that route. At any rate I can't change the halfling that's not an option but I could submit him as Chaotic Good with the understanding he's border line Chaotic Neutral or I could wait as I mostly plan on playing my halfling when I need a break from my Dwarf. (I love RPing halflings did it for about 3 years made a dwarf for something different.) 8
General Discussion / RE: new gobbo skin« on: October 22, 2005, 06:35:00 AM »
I have to say I really like the old one a lot better than the new one as well. Every time I try to RP on Scamp people think I'm some sort of DM Monster event and I usually have to go through 15 minutes of RP to try and figure out what I am since nothing else in the game looks like me.
Plus the little goblins look way cooler than this new goblin skin which looks like something from the movie aliens. 9

General Discussion / RE: My Fighter Stats.« on: October 19, 2005, 08:45:00 AM »Quote jjkolb - 10/19/2005 11:21 AM So who's character is this? Tedulas's or a hodgepodge of everyone else's?Right abilities should always be selected on the character and not what will make him the most uber. But if some one doesnt know much about fighters its nice to know what all the options are in advance. Like when I originally played a Rogue I never put points into UMD which really hurt me as a Rogue. Then when it comes to casters I know absolutely nothing about what a caster needs so he doesnt gimp himself. So yes while build it around what fits the characters there is nothing wrong with trying to get as much information as possible about a class so that you know what your options are. 11

Get your dex to at least 12 that will give you a +1 AC while wearing full plate.
Also I recommend getting luck of the hero's which is a level 1 feat that gives +1 to all saves and can only be taken at the first level. I also recommend getting INT to at least 12 that way you get extra skill points. I would say Discipline and Heal any extra points into Tumble and that one Spell Knowledge spell. 5 points in tumble = 1 AC and 5 points in the spell one gives +1 to saves or so I've heard. This is of course assuming one is trying to maximize his skills/stats to be the strongest possible character he/she can be. From an RP Stand point I would say don't take the spell knowldge skill unless it makes RP sense for your character such as my Dwarf is completely clueless about magic. 12

Right I don't want Central and East on the same server I'd just like to consider the possibility of moving Rilara to the east server and leaving everything else as is.
That way during peak times players could choose between Rilara and Draeger depending on what level they are as better alternatives to Mistone. 13
