Wild Surge Inn / Re: A note to all followers of Aeridin
« on: June 08, 2006, 04:19:08 PM »
Dear Talon and Alleina,

I am interested in attending this meeting and would enjoy the chance to talk with other followers about the circle of life. Where in the Seilwood is the home and what time?

Cullyn Alistair.

//I can join in at any time this weekend (Tomorrow, Saturday, or the earlier part of Sunday). I always get confused with all the time zone aspects. I am in Denver Colorado which is Mountain Standard Time in the US. If i'm reading your link correctly, then the time will be 2pm on Saturday, June 10th, 2006//

Dear Farstrider,

My name is Cullyn Alistair and I am interested in the ring of divinity you list at 3000pg. I seek anything that will aid me in healing the sick and wounded in the name of Aeridin. I am in Hlint most of the time creating and selling potions of healing to those in need. Please send me a letter so that I know you still have one available.

Thank you for your time,

Cullyn Alistair, Priest of Aeridin

Cullyn read the finding of the rings and sent out a reply.

Dear Ring bearer,

I am in search of the first ring of divinity like the one you hold. If for some reason you have not found a buyer yet, I will accept the offer of 4000 gold for the first ring. If you have found a buyer then please keep me in mind if you come across a second such item. Anything that allows me to heal the wounded and sustain life in the name of Aeridin is much needed.

Tristan,

This is Cullyn Alistair and I must say it is a blessing to see someone removing the tainted souls of the undead and returning them to the cycle of life and death. I shall pray to Aeridin in thanks of your efforts. I also would be glad to make an offer ofr the knuckles you have. I cannot make you a valid offer as of yet because I do not know how many knuckles fit inside of a box. I am though in need of the knuckles for I use them to make Potions of healing. Please send me a letter letting me know the quantity, and i'll get right back with you.

Cullyn Alistair, Priest of Aeridin.

Aralin,

Yes, I am very interested. Allow me time to go to the bank and vetrify my account balance, and I will be in touch with you shortly.

Cullyn

6
Aralin,

My name is Cullyn Alistair, and I have interest in two of the items you offer for sale but would like to know a little more detail. First your necklace of barkskin: is this a charged item, a one use item, only useable a certain number of times per day, or unlimited use?

Second, being a priest of Aeridin, what exactly are your items of divinity I,II, and III?

Wel, it's a catch 22 because some people find it rude to right click someone to see 'who' they are without RPing the information themselves ... and most people do not have a full accurate description of themselves listed and right clicking wouldn't tell you anything if you did. This has been my problem with RPing because i've found out a few times that someone was a drow only from talking to them ... even their picture wouldn't have made it obvious.

That's all fine and dandy but the truth is that those rare few drows that are not evil will always suffer the ridicule due to the actions of their 'kin'. If all of this 'needs to be considered' then it needs to be taught IC by a drow trying to change the perspective of the average drow hater.

I honestly couldn't tell you the difference from looking at a PC what type of elf they are. I played in a party of 3 wild elves once. I was new and they were going into the crypts. This same idea is true for the different halfling and gnome type also ... I couldn't tell you if i've met one of the subraces.

I haven't seen a wemic yet

I've seen four different PC half giants.

I've seen plenty of drow ... making the race over done imo.

Met a few goblins ... three to be exact.

I've also met a couple of teiflings which is fun considering I play an Aasimar ... bth of them were fun RPers that didn't take it personally but gave me a ration of crap right back :)

I have yet to meet a half ogre.

I have a problem with this race even being allowed to be player character since this server is not PvP. Getting into an arguement with a drow, as I have done, does not let the type of hatred out that should be felt against such a race. They have proven themselves untrustworthy through some of the things you've said. Attacking hlint in three different occurances ... would this type of action not tell every guard of Hlint that most likely lost someone they knew (family or friend) to kill any Drow on sight? This part makes no sense to me in this game setting. The description of a drow is too evil to not cause conflict with a non PvP setting.  " ... oh you evil drow, you killed my family member during your last raid. I hate you ..."

I agree that seeing a wemic would be shocking and fun to RP as well as a goblin, orc, or drow. I've had a run in with a drow and snub the PC. I've also snubbed a Teifling since I am an Aasimar. As long as no one takes offense, I find it enjoyable RP and found it quite funny to have the drow giving me crap for not wanting to trust them.

As for the Half giant, I am confused. The creature they use to depict a half giant does not at all meet the description in the players guide that says they can be mistaken for large barbarians and are raised in either giant or human culture. Does this not make them uncommon yet accepted? I wouldn't let the troll like creature affect your judgement based on the guide description, though would agree that some isolated type character races may not have seen them still ... and all (typically) dwarves hate giants ...

Absolutely!!!!

My friends and I found this server about a month ago and are completely hooked. We played on Dragon Myrth before this and would compare the RPing here to there (much excellent) ... but to go further the game world itself of Layonara is beyond anything i've played. Wicked cool skill set and a way to keep people from leveling three times a day are the next aspects of a game after RPing that completely draw me in. This world has so much in what it offers and great players, I do not know how anyone would want to leave once they've jumped in.

Simply awesome :)

lie, make up stories for entertainment, sing all the time even if just practicing. I imagine a bard always telling tories to himself simply to practice telling them better in big crowds. I picture them singing all the time for the same reason. Practice, practice, practice ... so that when you go to do it for real, youre well rehearsed.

I have to say I am guilty of looking at people CR but it is because I came from a server that would penalize you for RPing with someone 4 levels higher or lower than you because they hadn't adjusted the XP for kills right, and people would find low level character and bring them along on adventures in order to make more xp per kill ... power gaming!

General Discussion / RE: Question about Drows
« on: June 22, 2005, 06:03:00 PM »
I always felt as if the magical darkness that was cast was there to help aid the PC in hiding in the shadow in such a way as no one can see you. Drow are products of this underdark/evil power and use it to benefit them. What a great way to attempt to remain unseen after assassinating someone from an upper house in order to further advance your own. Darkvision, as said, is only for normal darkness.

I don't know anything about your other posts, what was said, or who replied .... but I will add that I TOTALLY am about leveling. XP is the gratification you get from good adventuring and good RPing. It helps me to think that i'm allowed to RP as someone more experienced than I was a level or two earlier in life. It doesn't mean that I should power play in order to make a multitude of levels superfast so I can RP that i'm superman (and by no means am I saying any is doing this, it's just an example). XP is like winning a game in a tournament while leveling is like getting the trophy. I enjoy seeing people get XP for good RPing as well as watching people hapily go *ding* or //lvl when successfully completing a quest (and I enjoy receiving these things as well). I've never GMed in a computerized gameworld setting, but can say from table top experience as a GM that it is fun to watch people at the end of an adventure feel satisfied from completing the quest, gaining XP, and making lvls. Now just to clarify ... I play to RP and enjoy XP as the reward; I don't RP for the pure fact of trying to gain levels and XP as fast as I can. I'm not sure if what i'm trying to get at is making any sense :)

As for the thread that I mentioned about running ... I hope you'll read all the way thru that and see that things such as proper RPing of a class and race are stated in there as well and the words properly playing a racial tendency/hatred is used. I do not understand without knowing the RPing background/history as to why or how hated races would RP together .... giant and dwarf ... elf and dark elf ... nearly anyone and an orc ... but then again the key here is I don't know how it's been RPed out. This is why I said in my post that it is a generalization not an interpretation of specific examples ie no names were stated. There are definitely reasons why something happen IC that my eyes do not see which is also why I say nothing in the game which might make me look like an idiot (though I do that quite well anyway :) ). I chose to I chose to state my pet peeves as well as things that I do enjoy and asked everyone else to do the ame to help get a feel for the community. So far a lot of good dos and don'ts have been posted and the thread is fun and unoffensive so I sure hope that I haven't offended you from the thread and would apologize up front if I have. Running to catch up with your party is a prime example of me sticking my foot in my mouth if I were to have said something IC ;) and agree that it is one of a multitude of reasons why things happen behind the scenes from my eyes and make me think .... hhhmmmm

As for venting, I used my thread to vent ... by all means use yours :)
