Excellent job handling a large group of folks, some of whom had a lot of side chatter.  There was a mix of levels and the group split into subgroups going to different locations, but it all got handled.  Felt bad I missed the conclusion of the quest; family called.

Owner found, although she had already crafted a replacement set of armor.

I have discovered that golems can be difficult to control.  While accompanied by an iron golem, I ran into a small group of lizardmen and dispatched them without receiving a scratch.  In the process of combat, the golem breathed on me, and I was poisoned.  What I did not realize until it was too late is that golem poison is fatal.  To make matters worse, the stench from the poison was so bad that I could not convince a ship captain to take me on board to sail.  (// lag was so bad that area transitions were VERY slow - could not have a successful conversatin to sail to Port Hampshire from Leilon to walk to grave site.)    For future reference, avoid iron golems - more trouble than they are worth.

Dear Jharl,

Your carpentry has always been exceptional, and it is with great pride that I have wielded the mahogany staff I purchased from you so long ago.  It gives me great sadness to report that the staff is no more, and that its end was mundane rather than heroic.  I got distracted while loading an ox-pack full of wood and apparently set the staff down without noticing.  I left the ox-pack on the ground too - another story - and led my ox off on a hike.  Upon realizing that I had left things behind, I returned and recovered the pack.  Alas, the staff was gone.  I fear that one of the local badgers took a fancy to the staff and hauled it off to use to sharpen his teeth...

On a more positive note, I have met a man with the heart of a Giant-Slayer; his name is Seril Garlmon.  He seems a wee bit fresh off the farm, but should common sense temper his enthusiasm for wielding his scythe in combat against fearsome foes that are perhaps *ahem* currently beyond his abilities, I think Seril will be destined for great things.

Lucinda keep you safe,

Soul Mother scolded me today for traveling in a large group and not having all my wards up - sloppiness evidently leads to tragically avoidable pilfering of a piece of my soul.  I took this as an admonition to be protected at all times, rather than as a sign to avoid traveling with others........

On my way back to Pranzis today I ran into a dwarf (Exodus) who was rather upset.  The way to Orc's Watch was no longer safe - a flying green lizard (perhaps it was even a small dragon ??) was killing all who attempted to venture into the town Orc's Watch.  So, I summoned a golem and we investigated.  When we spied the creature from a distance, it looked badly wounded, but was perched on a small mound of its kills - a gruesome testament to it hunting prowess.  The lizard attacked my golem and while the creautre was distracted, the dwarf waded into combat and slew the creature with four quick blows of his axe.  Thanks to the dwarf, aided by the Weave, Orc's Watch should again be able to get supplies.  As for the heroes who perished at the mouth and claws of the beast, alas, I fear little can be done for them.

While walking the streets of Pranzis, I ran smack into opportunity today.  I joined a group led by a man with wings.  The man's names was Plenarius Ashaley, and I later learned that he is the Bird Lord of Katia.  He took us on a long journey into dangerous territory on the island of Xantril.  We fought strange men, giants, and even amphibious things.  We then hiked a long distance through a forest, eventually coming to an area heavily guarded with allies.  Plenarius then began a sad tale, of a time when the birds were disappearing and he was wracked with bad dreams.  It turned out the Eon had cast a horrible transforming spell upon the then-current Bird Lord, and upon its completion would gain the Bird Lord's powers.  The Bird Lord's hands had already turning into nightmarish mechanical golem parts when Plenarius met him.  Plenarius and two allies were able to partially thwart Eon's plan, by recovering a staff once used by Eon and halt the transformation enough for Plenarius to be tested and then become the new Bird Lord - the old Lord shattered into many small pieces and presumably perished, while Plenarius sprouted wings.

While completing the tale, Plenarius also took us to view the Great Oak from a distance.  We then headed back - I made the party invisible so that we could move quickly through hostile territory - and met an elf named Rhizome.  To see such sights and meet such people; I have certainly traveled a long ways from Spellgard and the Blood Desert!

Development Journals and Discussion / The hills around Hlint
« on: December 30, 2005, 09:48:00 PM »
The orcs in the areas near Hlint appear to be more numerous and aggressive as of late.  After hearing what befell Stone on the island of Rilara, where forces of Sinthar Bloodstone razed that town, I cannot but think that it portends ill.  Many moons ago an orc muttering about Grand came to Hlint with a cursed sword and tried to kill a dwarf.  Perhaps the orcs move for less obvious reasons, or perhpas the most mundane of all - food and territory?

I have discovered today that there are fierce vampires that somtimes come out of hiding and battle in the great city of Port Hampshire.  This is indeed disturbing, for who likes to walk unawares among vampires and their minions?  Also, some are fierce warriors, and I fear would cut me into ribbons should I dare to stand against them in combat.  There appear to be secrets, power srtuggles, and assassinations in the fair city of Port Hampshire.  Too much beyond my comprehension.  I make note of it here and perhaps someday it will make sense....

Rumors of events I have not seen first-hand...

Sinthar Bloodstone gathered a force that included iron golems and attacked Fort Velensk.  There was a call for defenders, which I missed, and the attack was beaten off.

A strange, deadly spider has been spotted outside of Krandor.

It has been some time since I set pen to paper, and I have seen much more of the world.  Met a human named Orrin Widtucker and I have traveled near and far with him.  We made it back to Rilara and met a sturdy fellow named Asher Hardrock, who was quite helpful in giving us a quick tour.  The view across Lake Rillon was breath-taking.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Orc carrying a strange, evil-looking sword turned up in Hlint.  He was trying to kill a dwarf and muttered something about Grand, who evidently had an orcish horde camping nearby, ready to do his bidding and take over the craft hall in Hlint.  While a well-equipped orc army does give me pause, I have heard rumors of a brave band of heroes working to vanquish this threat.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I started looking for housing with Storold and Orrin, but could not find anything for sale on Mistone.  Sailed to Dregar, and couldn't find any real estate for sale there either.  This looking for housing thing may take a while.  Saw a tall human riding a four-legged beast - a horse?  Think that is what they're called.......  It looked dangerous, but a speedier mode of transportation for slow two-legged folks.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Started to teach Orrin halfling.  He has picked up on the word "dash."  Don't know yet if he has the aptitude for the language, though.  I have seen Gorhewn only occasionally.  That stubborn dwarf was only eating raw meat, and then not enough to keep himself healthy.  I convinced him to change his diet.  Get a fellow away from home, and they try the strangest things.....

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Minions of Sinthar Bloodstone have been sighted in Mistone.  Knew this was coming eventually, but can't be a good thing for the island.  Also, some of the places that harbor undead have become nastier; I have even sighted large golems of bone.  All in at, I suspect it portends trouble.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sailed to the Kingdom of Roldem.  Orrin didn't make it very far before it looked like he would turn into lunch for some nasty carnivore.  Sailed back to Rilara.

Trade and Market Hall / Auction: Exceptional Ring of Bull's Strength I
« on: January 20, 2007, 01:12:55 PM »
*In elaborate script*

Lucinda was in a humorous mood today, so I have two identical rings to auction off, preferably to different buyers.  Each golden ring is set with a single stone.

// strength bonus +1, cast bull's strength (3) once per day, level required = 10

Bidding will start at 12,000 per ring, with an auto-buy at 20,000 true.  If no one bids 20,000, rings will be offered to the two highest bids after two days of inactivity.

Sincerely,
Samir Al-sheck

General Discussion / Found: Armor in Port Hampshire
« on: July 31, 2006, 06:00:35 PM »
Found some armor lying on the ground near the east gate in Port Hampshire, and I am assuming it was dropped accidentally.  If there is a poor, unprotected (but hopefully not naked) soul out there who can tell me what they lost, I will gladly return it.
