CNR Suggestions/Discussion / Halflings unable to go mining?« on: November 11, 2005, 12:50:00 AM »
I started a halfling character with the intentions of concentrating on all the various crafting skills.
But it would seem im not able to equip a mining pick therefore cant go mining. Is this intentional or something that just went unnoticed? OIr have i just not found a small pick that halfings can use? 3
Development Journals and Discussion / New Player: Ryvan Shorefellow« on: November 09, 2005, 01:55:00 AM »
Full Name: Ryvan Shorefellow
Age: 21 Class(es): Rogue (20) Race: halfling Alignment: CG Description: Ryvan is small, even for a halfling, with short, fair hair and a "pleasant" chubby face that is almost always filled with a smile. Unimposing and cheerful by nature, he often goes unnoticed, and has made a habit of keeping himself to himself. He is generally a little naive and always seems in awe of the world arround him. Bio: If there was a fourth halfling family of note in the town of "Center" it would be the Shorefellow family, rediculously numerous in numbers and found all over the town working busily away at jobs that somehow havent managed to make them rich and powerful as yet. Originally shipwrights and fisherman from the eastern shores of mistone, not far from Haven, the family moved towards the center many years ago at a time when other halflings were making the same migration. The family has always been one step behind the more prominent families, often working for them as labourers, or running their own minor trades. In general the attitude of the elder shorefellows is "if its good enough for me, its good enough for you". therein lies the main reason that not one single shorefellow has stood out from the crowd - except for grandpa milo who owned a shoe shop! (cough). Ryvan was born into the Shorefellows as a cousin to the "core" family, and was the 8th child. From an early age he had very little encouragement in where to invest his time and training for his future, infact he had very little attention at all, most of it going to his older siblings. During his early life ryvan found that he could make a few coppers here and there running messages for businesses in the town and soon got to know all the quick routes through the alleyways, and with this he got to know a lot of the shadier characters that dwell there. Of course his pleasant and unimposing nature helped him to become a friendly face to most of these folk, who considered him harmless, and due to the nature of his errands, occasionally a good source of information. Eventually a moneylender from one of the more prominent halfling families, who had found ryvan to be useful, offered him a job in his counting shop, filing papers, a job that paid very little, and had little direction, except that ryvan learnt something very important in his time there - how to handle money. Unlike many of his siblings ryvan was born with a desire to better himself, and wasnt content to work for someone else, but realised that becuase of the dominance of the other halfing families in the center he would struggle to make a living as a trader. He decided that it was time to move on and find somewhere else to start his venture, and with a few coins and some meagre belongings one day he found himself on the outskirts of the town of Hlint. He would return to Center one day, but it would be different next time.
