Trying to make a viable character thats not the normal -- for group and solo

Just wondering if anyone has input on a fighter/sorcerer... My idea is high dex, char, and con.  Str is low, but plan on using bull's strength to increase that... I am specializing in a long bow, thats why the dex and str concern.

Any ideas? I am currently sorcerer(4) and fighter(1)

I am taking all bow feats, and taking defensive spells and a few nuke type spells for now(magic missile, melfs acid).  I think I will take a few damage shield type spells(death armor) to use, not sure if I can cast that on my pet. Also taking the summon creature spells so I can go into battle with 2 helpers(my familiar and a creature) and then I nuke and fire my bow.

Any ideas would be helpful.  I don't have a ton of time for the game, so I want to be effective when I do have time to explore when Im not running my mouth around town.

You see what appears to be an old animal hide that has been pounded flat nailed to the inn wall.

Upon closer inspection you see that it has a message written in a chaotic sharp script.  It appears to be written out of a dark red ink, the way it is flaking makes you think it may even be blood.

The sign reads:

"Grigor be lookin fer a steel maul and some bronze plate armors.  Da bigger da better, cuz Grigor use the maul to smoosh tings.

Send Grigor message please, tanks"

POSTED ON A TREE IN HLINT IS A SMALL SIGN WITH RED LETTERS THAT READS...

I, Sho'kon, am looking to purchase some nice medium armor and a greatsword a step up from copper.  I am not new to town, but almost, I can kill skeletons, goblins, and ghouls quite well(I am level 4). I need something above what the Hlint merchants sell. Please send me a message with what you have and the price, I am far from rich!(about 1200 gold right now, but making more).

I find a few gems when I kill stuff... and wonder what are they for, where can I sell them, are these minerals? I read something about a mineral bath? Sorry, can't find the info so I am asking around...
