Hmm...well...Gem is a very...social gnome and I play him as such. Before he went to the Arms he talked to about 15 different people, which he had never met before, in about 10 minutes. He will talk to ANYONE. If he saw a dragon, he would try and strike up a conversation with it. He will interrupt, asks a lot of questions and tries to be friendly.

Now when he entered the Arms, he honestly didn't know a story was in progress so he was a bit premature in his 'Hellos'. But to me, that is like when you enter a meeting late, which you do not know that you are late too, and you are laughing at the guy behind you as you enter. Everyone stops what they are doing and all heads turn in your direction. You just freeze in your steps and wonder, "What in the world have I just done and…wow, I am in the spotlight." You try to gather your composure and find your way to your seat. It happens! It is real life and real life experiences should be brought into the game to try and make the game feel real and add dimension. (So sending me a tell telling me to be quiet is like Lalaith said, unappreciated. I did not mean to be RUDE to Acacea or anyone else.)

Also, thanks to Jennara for playing along. When Gem saw a man with wings...WOW, a man with wings. Gem was very excited and wanted to express what he has seen. He whispered to Jennara and she responded back. Thanks! Now I (the player) know who Plenarius is and I know who plays him. But to Gem, a gnome that is new to the Surface, is just amazed that a man has wings. He had to let someone know what he saw.

And then there was the applause that was unintentionally given during a long pause in the story. Now who has not DONE that in real life? *Raises hand* I have and was very embarrassed by it. But the people on the stage just kept going. Some people will laugh, some will get mad, and some will even lean over to their friend and say, "Can you believe that guy?" That is REAL life. That is what makes life fun and exciting. That is what is SO good about Layonara! People bringing real life experiences into the game for everyone to experience and hopefully enjoy. If I was embarrassed about an event in RL, then I may even act it out IG for some laughs. The game should resemble life...imperfect, flawed, and unrehearsed. If not, then it would be a boring game. I want the unexpected behaviors, the goof ups, the hecklers, the people that boo and the people that cheer. I welcome it!

To the person that sent me the tell...I like to think that the tell was for the consideration of Acacea. If it was just for you, then it was inappropriate. Nothing major though; a learning experience for the player.

And then there was Gem’s return to the Arms later in the evening. The door was open and his belly was rumbling. Gem walked in on Plenarius, Lalaith, Jennara and one other. Gem was obviously disturbing (I, the player thought) but Gem, whom was guided by his belly, was not so quick to pick it up. They very politely told him that they were in a meeting and the Arms was closed. *two thumbs up* No tells, which are to the player and not the character, were sent. It was all done IG. I just wanted to mention this last little bit because Lalaith does practice what she has mentioned here. And believe me, there were NO hard feelings or misunderstandings. She kept it IG and it did not send a message to the player (not the character) to excuse them.

It is Gemme Sum Moregems!

Have you met this character in person? (Let’s not get too wrapped up in meta gaming) Have you read his bio? Are you familiar with the Deities of Layonara? Do you realize how people in the medieval times were named?

Don’t take him serious! He is not there to be taken seriously.

By the way, he is not there for YOU. He is there for ME. This is a game. I know some people get really involved and the ‘little’ things irritate them. This is a place to have fun.

And no, I don’t think that L, “The Man”, "The World Creator", this character's approver, smokes crack.

“Give me a Break” would be a good name for a Dwarven Barbarian. Maybe you should submit a bio.
