Server Rules / Re: Abuse of AI in temples and locations like that« on: April 04, 2006, 12:15:13 PM »
"PvP always needs GM oversight. Always."
You're wrong about PvP. This is the one thing that keeps my good friend from being excited about this server. Layo has so much to offer with it's world being geared towards group adventuring. It is unrealistic that you can't fight whoever you want. In my opinion this lends to bad RP as does the ability to tell someone's relative challenge to yourself by examining them. People cop superiority attitudes towards people of lower level than themselves and as a new player here that irritates me. If a player couldn't tell how dangerous another character might be than he might have to rely on RP, what a concept. With PvP allowed then players should feel more free to chose more hostile alignments. Players could participate in aiding Blood's cause, and from what I hear he could use it lol.... That is probably suggesting too much change, but that's what I think. And by the way on RP servers that allow realistic PvP they call it CvC (character vs. character), a good name for a good reason. 2
Development Journals and Discussion / Malik Qadir's personal journal - march 31« on: March 31, 2006, 12:44:44 PM »
It has been a few days since I was whisked away from my bed in Pranzi by this dragon who summoned me. I thought this was a good omen to herald my victory against the man who killed my father. When I realized that I had been transported far from my home and my quest I was enraged. Yet the dragon remains a good omen, and I must believe that this is my destiny and is vital in reclaiming my father's honor. To better prepare me for my battle with the man who killed my father I have been weilding a scimitar in combat exclusively. I feel my skills have been growing with the weapon. In my most recent adventures I used a new method for how I grip and hold my scimitar that seems quite effective (weapon specialization - scimitar). I know that I am far from the skill of my father, but perhaps one day my skill will be great enough to truly make him proud. I have noticed in combat that if I spent a little more energy aiming specifically for the vital spots of my enemies I would increase the chance of dealing deadly attacks (improved ctitical), but so far I can not figure out how to incorporate this strategy into my sword style effectively. In time I am sure that I will find a way to master this skill. On a more personla note I have made a friend in Hlint. Her name is Dodger Finn. She is a beautiful woman and a performer by skill. Her social graces have already found us a few adventures to partake of, and her skills as a spellcaster have been vital in those adventures. What is most impressive about her is her bravery. She is always right behind me with her crossbow in hand or at my side with her halberd. It seems that she was whisked away from her home just as I and many others here in Hlint. She is very new here just as I am and perhaps that is what draws us to adventure together. There is still much to do in preparation of my long travel back to Pranzi and then onto the North Fort so I must be getting back to it.
P.S. The house special at Hlint's Inn is quite good.
