Wasn't sure where to ask this question, but decided to do it here.  I am goin to join the world for the first time this weekend.  On the character creation screen, if I understand this correctly, do I choose half-orc for the race and then half-giant for the sub-race, if I want to play my approved half-gian character?  He really isn't a half-orc, as I had invisioned him as half-human/half-giant; so is this a game-mechanic requirement for your world? I just wanted to be sure before going ahead with character creation, as I would prefer to get this right the first time.  Many thanks ahead of time for your patience.

Greetings all.  I am new to these forums--so new that I have not yet to put up a character submission as I have been gathering information on Layonara.  I have read through the world manual and have read through many of the character submission posts.  Many of these character submissions are, to say the least impressive.  

In preparation for my first character submission, I have a few questions about climate and geography that I have not come across any specific references to in my readings.  If I have missed them, I apologize.  Specifically, my questions are these:

1)  I was wondering if the island of Krashin, north of Mistone continent, was a cold place; say, cold enough to have ice floes around its northern shore much of the year?

2)  I have seen other references to the island, specifically in some character submission threads, that the island may be home to several races.  Is the island envisioned as being a home primarily to the barbarians, or is the population more mixed between races and classes?

3)  Is the island of Krashin far enough north, that like, say our own north polar regions, it is beset by extremes of dark and light hours, depending on the time of year?

If these questions have been asked previously, then please forgive.  I was just wondering as these things would be helpful to know for my character background.
