Good luck, see you when you come back.

Should be an option somewhere. Gimp asks about it upon file saving, no idea about  PhotoSuite... Anyway, think these should work.

It seems to me NWN doesn't have much love for RLE compression in TGAs. Can you try saving the portraits without it?

Happy anniversary, you two! :)

(and a layman's opinion: Shouldn't you have bought flowers instead?)

Just for Fun / Re: Catching up to Dorg

Very good point there. So if one was to go and thank only 1,150 of Dorg's posts, one could be done by early evening (if one started first thing in the morning) and end up on the winning side?

Ask A Gamemaster / Re: My Journal Lies to Me
« on: September 13, 2007, 01:17:05 PM »
Yeah, the journal is saved in your local vault as a textfile whose filename is same as your character name. And as far as I can tell, the content of the file is updated the moment you close journal window (at least with linux client). You could try changing journal and check if the file is updated accordingly. It sounds more like a permissions/file access problem than a server problem.

How about:
cd your-nwn-install-dir
export LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose
./nwn

LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose ./nwn  just starts the game, and texture still don't display.

Any output to the console?

Nope that's my Xorg.0.log that I posted.

LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose fglrxinfo gives this:

Xlib:  extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".
libGL error: XF86DRIQueryDirectRenderingCapable failed
display: :0.0  screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI RADEON 9600 Series
OpenGL version string: 1.2 (2.0.6458 (8.36.5))
I'm not sure how ATI's versioning goes (NVIDIA user here), but you do have latest drivers installed, right? 8.40.something?

LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose nwn gives:

/usr/local/bin/nwn: line 12: ./nwmain: No such file or directory
My bad, that should've been:
cd your-nwn-install-dir
LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose ./nwn

I'm thinking I have to use something other than XFree86.

glxgears runs fine.
On a 64-bit install, glxgears should be 64-bit, too...

And from cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep "(EE)" I get :

        (WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown.
(EE) AIGLX error: dlsym for __driCreateNewScreen_20050727 failed (/usr/lib64/dri/fglrx_dri.so: undefined symbol: __driCreateNewScreen_20050727)
(EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering
Not sure if this is of any relevance, but it can probably disabled by adding:
Quote
Option "AIGLX" "off"
under "ServerFlags" section of your xorg.conf file.

I think that's fglrxinfo output you posted, right? Xorg.0.log is file under /var/log/, but by the look of that output, it should be OK... just to be sure, you can run:
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep "(WW)"
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep "(EE)"

Anyway, if you run:
LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose fglrxinfo
and
LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose nwn

Do you get same initialization output? Any errors for nwn? And on a side note, if you're running any other 32-bit OpenGL apps, do they work alright?

Yeah, those white textures are usually sign that GL_EXT_texture_compression_s3tc OpenGL extension is missing.

Are you using fglrx or open source drivers? And if you could either upload or PM me your Xorg.0.log (unless you already checked it)? I'm currently at work, but wouldn't mind a distraction...

what's output of "glxinfo | grep s3tc"?

Yeah, you click on 'Elf' first, then click on 'Subrace' and enter "WoodElf"

Ask A Gamemaster / Re: Subrace Error?

My guess would be you didn't select Elf as a base race when you were creating the character (since server status page says Leithwin's race is Human)...

Does NWN work with fglrx and without Beryl? (note that Beryl has decent impact on OpenGL apps' performance)

Chromed out things sound like missing textures, and since you mention lag - you are using proprietary gfx drivers, right?

As for portraits, it sounds like either permissions or case problem...
