Ask A Gamemaster / Re: Possibly Strange Question: Layonara download
« on: September 15, 2009, 11:22:31 AM »
Yeah, I pretty much figure IP and everything that it wasn't likely to happen. And I realize that without the scripts and everything there's no story or anything, just the setting.

But I thought that the visual design was good enough that I'd just like to see everything...without getting stomped into the ground.

Oh well, I can always try to level up my char and see if I can survive a little longer. :)

OK, that makes sense. I'll keep my eye out for any openings then.

:)

Thanks!

Oh, that's an L? I thought it was pipe | (the thing on the backslash key).

that would explain why it didn't work...

:)

Thanks,

"/o l Blah" also works, and it doesn't spam the DM channel!

Stephen,

I tried this last night but couldn't get it to work (doing it the /dm way worked though.)

Is it /o | [hello] or do I need to type it differently?

Thanks!

Since my only PCs are currently lvls 1 and 4, I doubled it and sent $10.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks,

Thanks for all the advice. I was able to finish him off finally, although my poor wolf companion was killed in the process, she did manage to seriously would him after a little Magic Fang action.

So, where can I find me some kobolds?

I've been doing some exploring and found myself WAY in over my head several times. Had a nasty run in with some Gnolls last night...

Kobolds sound like they are right up my alley...

Thanks!

Ask A Gamemaster / Re: A question about crafting a staff...

Oh, I don't plan to give up on my druid. I'm still working out her details. But I guess chopping down a tree to make a staff isn't very druid like...foraging it is then.

I'm still figuring out her personality and what kind of druid she is. She's not afraid to fight, and has killed some animals in self-defense, but right now she's into exploring (which can be pretty rough for a lvl4 druid).

I'm not sure where the drop is that everyone mentioned, but I guess I'll run across it sooner or later. I'm hoping to make my way up to the Hlint area next, but I've been having some trouble finding my way there.

Thanks for all the info everyone!

Hmmm. OK, that would make foraging more viable. Does mean I'd have to change my plan though...(2d20 + Search + Spot vs DC 30) not I can do about the Search and Spot for a while...don't have money for Jaguar armor, and don't know where to find jaguar anyway.

New plan: Get craft badge. Learn to craft leather (so I can make jaguar armor someday) and forage for wood (so I can learn to make a staff someday.)

I guess I should follow nature's example and take my time...

:)

Thanks everyone!

The problem with foraging is you can only do it once every 9 hours real time. So, once a day basically...and i'd need item to boost spot and search even to get a chance of finding anything.

I'm not sure if wood chipping has a higher chance of succes, but I was under the impression I could just get a hatchet and chop various trees until I get some wood. Is there a time limit like with foraging?

Also, can you get wood from a tree using a sickle? Then I could RP trimming branches rather than chopping the whole thing down (maybe).

I guess I can at least do cooking, tailoring and leather crafting...

I'll have to think about the foraging thing though...

Poop. I didn't think about it that way. I was thinking with my RP side.

I had decide that my druid felt that a store-bought staff (or a drop) was too impersonal...she had no idea of it's history and no connection to it. Instead she would craft her own staff, which would let her better combat evil and also let her appreciate the gift from nature.

I've already had some minor anxiety over having to fight off insane skunks, deer, and birds. My rational there was that I was forced to defend myself, but would honor the slain animal by making the best use of the resources I got (meat, skin, feathers, etc) that way nothing went to waste.

But now I'm wondering if it's possible to RP a Druid and craft items...

A conundrum...

Thanks everyone. I'll guess I'll start working my way up. First though...gotta get some dough for the crafting badge.

Ya know, I was thinking about using my animal companion, but I hesitated to throw her in against a boss I couldn't even damage. Maybe a little magic fang action, with some offensive spells (I think Flame lash is all I have) can do some good...

Worth a shot, I suppose.

Hmmm. It seems strange that it should be a newbie quest and essentially un-doable by newbies. Our party was only 2 people, but we had no trouble getting through the crypt *until* we met the boss. Suddenly, we were outclassed. (We had a third person in the party earlier, but she had to leave...but I think with 3 people we still would have failed.)

Maybe I should check my druid spells, but I don't think I have anything that can enhance my staff...guess I'll have to move on for now...

Works for me.

Looks like most of the changes would affect me most in Sp mods, and right now I'm concentrating on my Layonara PC.

Thanks!

Thanks for all the help.

I definitely plan to go with a group, but I'd like to get a little XP on my own (Loner Ranger type). I tried going with a group my first night and got lost (my fault...got distracted in the real world) and when I tried to find the group ran into some assassine vine or something. Pretty nasty. :)

Thx again everyone.
