Master's Enchanting Bowl
« on: August 05, 2005, 11:58:00 AM »
I thought that some of the items that can be made in the enchanter's bowl should have more powerful versions able to be crafted.

Necklace of Barkskin II: Casts Barkskin (9) once per day
-Sapphire set in Gold Amulet
-4 Spells of Barkskin
-Enchanting Oil

Necklace of Barkskin III: Casts Barkskin (13) once per day
-Ruby set in Silver Amulet
-6 Spells of Barkskin
-Enchanting Oil

Prayer Beads II: Casts Bless (1) twice per day
-Fire Opal set in Gold Amulet
-4 Spells of Bless
-Enchanting Oil

Prayer Beads III: Cast Bless (1) three times per day
-Fire Opal set in Silver Amulet
-6 Spells of Bless
-Enchanting Oil

I'm not sure if any of these are feasible, but i think they would be good in the progression of things.

I think these are a bit too good for Layonara. Everything with a X/day is already overpowered even before it said what spell it will have. Simply because most will get many of the best and have a large buff supply even without being a spellcaster. Such items tend to lower the vaule of support classes and it is bad in a party aimed server such as Layonara.

i think that none of these are much better than the helmet of armor. The only one which would be very powerful is the Necklace of Barkskin III since it would last for a long time and give a large bonus to AC. I think that the Barkskin necklaces would be very difficult to make.

Also the base necklaces could be changed to make these rarer.

Edit: Very few people can cast barkskin, I think i am one of the few encanters that can make these, that alone would make them rare

Personally, I think items like these should go into infusing. It makes sense to me since you're infusing spells into items that will then be able to use the spells. (Wands, staves, gems anyone?)
However I agree with Rufus, Barskin lasts a while as it is so Barskin (9) and Barskin (13) will last too long, and be a bit too powerful. Also is it actually possible to increase the spell level at which spells are cast from items?

After thinking about this a bit they are a bit too powerful, Perhaps this would be better.

Necklace of Barkskin II: Casts Barkskin (3) twice per day
-Sapphire set in Gold Amulet
-6 Spells of Barkskin
-Enchanting Oil

Necklace of Barkskin III: Casts Barkskin (9) twice per day
-Ruby set in Silver Amulet
-6 Spells of Barkskin
-Enchanting Oil

Maybe this would be better suited to Layonara

I looked through the Toolset and i am pretty sure that you can set the caster level higher.

And there is already a Necklace of Barkskin I and Prayer Beads as well as a Necklace of Shield in the enchanting bowl.

True, and I'd like to see those tossed over to infusing aswell. It's my opinion that items that give bonuses such as Abilities, Skills, and Saving Throws should be in Enchanting, but items that allow you to cast spells and other special abilities should be in Infusing (which I notice not all of them are). Maybe it's just me. It's possible that I'm weird that way. ;)

That makes sense to me, Perhaps it should be changed to Infusing Bowl and make it part of that the infusing craftskill.

I would like to see the quest reward helms reduced somewhat, and the player produced items expanded somewhat.

I'd like to see a ring that lets you cast protection from elements 1/day
I'd like to see a belt that reduced the weight of everything you carried by 20% without just adding strength (belt of lifting)
I'd like to see specialty items that people could craft that would add RP-able feats to thier characters, a glowing suit of platemail for the paladins that granted them +5 persuasion, etc.

There are currently several items that will do this. They are relatively rare because the ingreadients for them are a bit expensive, but ask around if you are interested.

Here are a few new ideas (Including the ring Vyris suggested), And i also reworked the Barkskin necklaces to balance their power.

-Necklace of Barkskin II: Cast Barkskin (6) once per day
-Alexandrite set in Gold Amulet
-3 Spells of Barkskin
-3 Essences of Bark
-2 Potions of Barkskin
-4 Birch Bark
-Enchanting Oil

-Necklace of Barkskin III: Casts Barkskin (12) once per day (i'd really prefer the caster level 9 but that is not possible in the toolset)
-Ruby set in Silver Amulet
-6 Spells of Barkskin
-6 Essences of Bark
-4 Potions of Barkskin
-8 Bich Bark
-Enchanting Oil

-Ring of Elements: Casts Resist Elements (3) once per day
-1 Fire Opal, 1 Sapphire, 1 Topaz set in Platinum ring
-3 Spells of Resist Elements
-2 Dusts of Fire Opal
-2 Dusts of Sapphire
-2 Dusts of Topaz
-Enchanting Oil

-Ring of Faith: Casts Shield of Faith (2) once per day
-Topaz set in Gold ring
-3 Spells of Shield of Faith
-1 Potion of Bless
-3 Essences of Bless
-4 Holy Water
-Enchanting Oil

These are just ideas I'm throwing out now, I'd like any comments

There are already wands with charges on then that would be much eaiser to make then anything that is being suggested here, I wanted to suggest something with more permanance that would be useful to fighter types.

The necklace of barkskin II that i suggested here is exactly the same as the helmet of armor, its 1 charge will last as long as the 2 charges on the helmet of armor.

( the ring of faith should be limited to clerics and paladins, that will also reduce its value/usefulness)

I agree with Vyris that many of the quest rewards are much too powerful

I'm a fighter player, so basicly it would be sweet
for my character to get more items that cast spells.
But this is layonara, so those items that already exist
and cast barkskin and bless are enough.

If you want a better barkskin, go find yourself a druid
and put him on a leash.
