"The fates have thrown a strange twist into my life…"

I had spent more than a week of trying to locate my Friend Draethor. The Drow that took him could not have made it to the Entrance to the Underdark ahead of me, leaving the alternatives of either Magic, or another Entrance somewhere else near here. I do not remember another entrance from any of the maps I had seen, so I figure it must be Magic.

Knowing the Drow, they have probably ended his life by now, sacrificed him to Baraeon or Vierdri'ira. He never did explain to me why he was exiled, but I assume from his reaction to my story, that it was a similar situation. All I can do now is hope he finds peace, since I do not possess the skills yet to track his captors. Life has been good for me on the Surface to this point, and I now ponder where to go from here.

Draethor has repeatedly cautioned me about contact with the surface races, and I’ve no reason to dispute his warnings. They are quick to Judge, and Kill, based solely upon my Heritage. Honestly, I don’t think I can blame them.. The Drow have done much worse to them in the past. I just need to find a way for them to see beyond the color of my skin to know that I do not share the same views as my Kin. Perhaps clarity will come with Sleep..

I had a very strange Dream last night… I was summoned to stand before an Enormous Dragon. It all seemed so real though.. The Dragon asked me for my aid in defeating a man called Sinthar Bloodstone. I have not heard of this man before, but apparently he has caused much destruction on the surface. I am not sure what aid I can provide in this, but I told the Dragon that I would do what I could.

To my surprise, when I awoke, I was not in the same region as when I had gone to sleep. After some quick scouting, I discovered a town nearby. I can only assume that the Dream was real, and the Dragon (Or a Deity behind the Dragon) has transported me here. I am going to go investigate the Nearby town to determine what is happening in the area…

Fool Dragon. He must have been off of his rock to send me here. This Town, which I learned is called Hlint, is home to some of the most single-minded and hateful individuals that I have ever heard of. The ones that don’t chase me with weapons drawn openly shun me. I learned that their Town has been hit by Drow in the past, and most refuse to even consider the fact that I am different. I found a campsite outside of town to use, since the Inn Keeper gave me funny looks as soon as I stepped in the door. How the Dragon expects me to work with these people toward defeating ‘Blood’ as they call him is beyond me if they can not get over the fact that I am Drow.

I will try to overcome their hatred though.. Perhaps I can do some small jobs around town to gain their trust. Though from the reactions I have seen so far, perhaps I am wasting my time here.

Things are a small bit better. I have performed some tasks for individuals in the town, and I think the word is spreading slowly. I have seen a couple other Drow walking openly in the town as well, so we are not Unknown here. I just need to continue trying to prove my worth.

I met a strange Dwarf today.. Most dwarves I have seen barely held their tempers in check at the sight of me, but this one actually seemed happy to have me around. He asked me to accompany him on a trip to the nearby Goblin Caves, and watch his back while he mined some copper. I agreed, and the trip went well. I am not sure how well respected he is among the others, but perhaps he will let them know about his experiences with me.

I have been spending a lot of time in the Crypts the last couple days.. There is an Undead presence here that defies logic.. they seem to be generated by the crypts themselves. An almost never-ending horde of skeletons and zombies can be found in the deeper sections. I have been doing my best to take down as many as possible, lest their numbers increase and become a threat to the Town, but I don’t think I am making that much of an impact. I would think that the local Temple would have cleansed the Area long ago.. Perhaps they have tried and were unsuccessful.

I have also been walking outside the walls of the town watching for Goblins. Not many venture up to the walls, but those that do meet their end swiftly when my arrows catch them. They control a Cave near town, and like the undead in the Crypts, their numbers seem endless. This is understandable though, since they tend to breed like rats. I will continue to do what I can to protect the town.

I have been practicing my Archery skills a lot recently. My aim has improved considerably in the last weeks, hitting my targets much more often than I used to. I have been spending a lot of time observing people in the town as they go about their lives. This is perhaps an extension of my early years as a Scout/Spy resurfacing, but I am learning a lot about the people in this town.

I feel my stealth abilities are diminished up here on the surface though. In the Underdark, I could go unseen at a moments notice, but the Light up here reveals things quite easily. I must learn to adapt my abilities to this new environment. Many guard their conversations when I am near, but if I could remain hidden, perhaps I would learn more about their true character and intentions. Most I have seen seem like a decent sort. A few have some very guarded secrets though, with possible ties to the forces of Evil.. These I will watch closely for possible treachery against this Town and it’s citizens.

I took part in a Town Meeting this night. Most did not seem to mind me being there, not openly at least. I noticed several glares through the evening, but they quickly looked away when I noticed them. Perhaps they are beginning to accept me as an Ally in the coming conflict, though the numerous Guards in the area were likely the greater deterrent.

The meeting was held to discuss the recent activities of ‘Blood’ and his Generals. The citizens wish to form a Council of Advisors that would gather information and assemble suggestions based on the collected data. This is a similar function I used to perform back in my Homeland, but I doubt they would elect a Drow to the position. Instead, I offered my services as a Scout to gather information for them. Perhaps I might become a member of a Specialized Strike Team to take out Key areas of the Enemy’s position.

The meeting almost degraded to open shouting and threats several times in the evening, but order was maintained in the end. I provided some feedback on a couple nominees based on what I had witnessed of them in the past several days, but I am not sure I was heard. In the end, I will have to trust in the decisions that the others make, until my opinion gains enough worth in this community to be considered valuable.
