I've been pretty quiet about the recent cavalcade of posts pertaining to the feelings people have regarding how Layonara is ran and how the GM team and player base interact.

This situation is one that is complicated and difficult to handle in a manner that's would please all but there are small simple things we could do that I think would help to knit this rapture that breeds discontent and animosity.

One such a way is the Layonara Interned Relay Chat channel on our own Layonara server. There you can OOCly discuss anything ranging from game mechanics and world lore to how much you hate your in-laws and what did your cat ate yesterday. It's a great place for the GM team and the player base to talk to each other without any pressure or barriers and just hang out.

Please, do not let the need to install a new program scare you away, in all it's very simple a procedure even to the more computer illiterate, we have a great FAQ to get you started and when you make it to the channel there will be an ample supply of people willing to help you out with the rest.

Reventage is very correct. IRC is a great place to head to talk on all things Layonara as well as just to chat with your in game friends in OOC.

I agree, very helpful. The Raven Trade Company uses it with an own topic to easily get into contact with each other.

And I think it's helpful to remind people that there is a free version without trial period out there.

This is true. Players have had light shed on issues they were having by shooting questions on IRC many times. Not always coming away agreeing, but in general having a better understanding of things, even if it's understanding that the answer is really not known at this time. If nothing else, I think the few way-too-long opinionated discussions between them with grudging points here and there, dispels the "fear retribution" notion about speaking an opinion.

I can vouch for the IRC being terribly helpful. It's helped get a lot of my IG problems settled out.
