    Seing the world

Arhliniel stumbled upon Hlint as soon as she begun traveling the roads. Being tired from her former nomadic days and feeling lonely her entire life, the little wild elf saw that as a perfect oportunity to settle down for some time to think and learn. It was going to be her first oportunity of direct contact with the great human cities, and exactly what she was looking for.

Having exausted her supplies, first she had to find local merchants to buy some food and water. This could seem an easy task for locals, but a creature that's used to spend her entire days among half a dozen tents, the idea of looking for a single bulding in such an amassing of them was.. overwhelming, but with the help of a beutiful young human called Rhynn, she did find the sellers. First, she managed herself some food and water but, as she searched their inventories, she found weapons, armors and many other itens. Realizing soon adventure would be necessary, since her monetary condition was poor at best, she got herself a pair of short swords and a leather armor: sounded fine, since most her relatives from the past used not much else than that.

Finding herself a confortable spot under some trees near one of the city gates, she relaxed for a few hours and regained her strenght. Restored to full next morning, she began questioning the locals for any request they would have for her, as helping the other was the obvious route to know them. A few requests were made, but none she could accomplish by the time. Trying her luck outside the city limits her first enemy was surprising: an elven archer that stroke at her on the spot. Though easily defeating him, enslaying a fellow elf was a route she was not prepared to take, and then rumored to another spot.

Finding herself among large tall trees which reminded her of her home, she walked peacefully, until an arrow flew in her direction. She then faced two orcs hidden behind a cliff: that was her first death experience. Back to hlint, where her soul was now bound, she was not willing to leave town by herself again, and searched for help among the adventurers stationed there. One of them, a tall white-haired elf by the name of Kiva was found, and asked where she could find goblins near the town: a man from the local army asked five goblin ears from her. He then lead her to the spot, from where she wished he'd go no further: her god's teachings was not to deppend on no one, so having help on hunt was something unbearable to her philosophy. She then tried killing her first goblin alone, to find herself overwhelmed by him, and saved by the intervention of Kiva. After a short dialog, he convinced her she could not learn everything by herself and, before developing her full abilities, she'd need some guidance. As the only guidance she had relied upon was from her god, that situation was more than obvious: if not an avatar of Kithairien himself, this man had been, at the very least, tossed at her life by the runners will.

After some time and dead goblins a Tiefling, obvious friend of Kiva, joined them. This creature was unknown to her but not surprising: teethy humanoids were common back at her home. Of course, one so inteligent and willing to help instead of trying to eat her on the spot was a surprising exception, and an welcome one. Together, the three of them invaded and destroied an entire goblin colony installed in a hill's cave, from where she left tryumphant holding five goblin ears. That was also her first encounter with heavy magery, for the Tiefling was a mage or sorcerer of some power: power which, once again, saved her life. Deeply wonded by goblins, she was rendered invisible by the tiefling she'd come to call 'Teethy' and escaped sucessfully from the cave. Returning to Hlint, she delivered them to the army's commander and received a bow full of adventuring supplies from Kiva as a gift: that was, for ger, a gift of her god himself through one of his sent, and greatly appreciated.

This single adventure increased Arhliniel's abilities greatly, and prepared her for future adventures not only through skill, but also through material resources.

After more weeks within the town of Hlint, Arhliniel decided to look into internal matters. A woman around an immensily large building was ranting about stolen papers by a ratman, which souded easy enough for her to take care of: she should just kill the ratman, if needed be, and retrive the stolen documents.

Even though it wasn't going to be the largest of adventures, she needed easy tasks for the time being, to gather some experience and learn more on direct fighting. To achieve that though, she wasn't heading on the sewers by herself, so Arhliniel begun searching the city for young adventurers to help in her task: she didn't find that, but certainly found help.

When almost exhausted of looking, a man on white and blue robes asked her if she needed something, for she had run into him a couple of times now since he got to Hlint. Not seing much else to do, she stopped and explained her situation to him. By doing that she gad not only acquired a powerful ally, but also a future friend. Celgar was his name.

The man was a powerful priest of Lucinda, information she'd take some time to run across. He agreed going into the sewers with her, and showed time after time his spells were more than enough to take care of most rats, being that by direct offense or enchanting Arhliniel herself. In the end, there was no negotiation, and the ratman was killed, mission accomplished. Seing this meeting as a likely profitable coincidence, she told him about another of her tasks: the local postman had encharged her of delivering a letter to a man in a far away Fort. Not knowing much about roads that didn't cross her home forest, she knew she couldn't go alone, but was more than well protected with him.

He once again agreed, and they left. On the way, they stopped by a destroyed bloodpool, and Celgar told her something about the history of Blood and Ozy, how Blood defeated the dragons but was utterly destroyed. It was also the first time she sailed, and meeting the roughness of those rivers was an unforgettable experience. After that, they wen't through dangerous forests and valleys and, after delivering the letter, even ventured inside a crypt of a small town: Celgar's home town. Once again, swallowed by the darkness of dungeons, magery played an important role on her survival and victory, making her think about all the power the ancients of her clan denied themselves by shunning magery from their repertoires. After the adventure, there was a long stop for a rest in the local tavern, along with drinks and food.

While the hours passed, she learned more and more about the sad history of that man, his past fiances and how he tragically never managed to get married. Even though he possessed undeniable power, she pittied him for being so bound to it, but was happy for the deposit of trust by telling her so much. After some time, wanderlust struke her again, and they left to return to Hlint.

The road back was easy, but upon her arrival and their gooodbies, she was left the impression that maybe, there could be no power or victory without the touch of magic. From that day on she admires its users, and is immensily curious about them and their abilities, and questions her own role, and Khitarien's, on the protection of nature.
