Announcement from Blackford
« on: November 23, 2006, 05:29:54 AM »
*A missive is sent to noble courts, city councils, acknowleged guilds and societies, posted in prominent or well-visited bars around the world, all bearing the seal of Blackford authenticating it as the official word from the Queen and the insignia of the Church of Lucinda, marking the document as coming in representation of both entities.*  The regency of Blackford, on behalf of the lands of Mistone and in direct representation of Allurial, Queen of the Lands and Chosen of Lucinda would like to announce in formal scripture of the posting of one Eldárwen Hilliaraname for the diplomatic allocation recently admonished by the calling of the Lady of Magic, titled as Beloved of Lucinda.  This diplomatic position is from this day henceforth acknowledged by land and faith to enact on behalf of the betterment of Magic. The Beloved of Lucinda will strive to fulfill the ever-present need for magical wisdom, offering insight to all - regardless of faith, belief, social standing, association or intent. Attending only and in utmost reverence to the health of the Weave in our civilization.  Sealed and protected by Queen and Legacy of Faith, this notice of acknowledgement is presented in kindness and benevolence to all eyes.    Witnessed in Sealing Highstar Belinmeric

* Hjalmar hears of this proclamation from the Town Crier in Hlint. He stops and asks the man himself. *

" Excuse my bluntness, sir, but I am wondering whether these lands are ruled by Lucinda or a representative of the People. All I hear since I came here is talk of civilisation and the last truly united continent on Laynoara.

What I mean to say is that people choose their own faiths. This kind of rulership cannot work without being influenced by the goddess of magic... I mean, she is her "Beloved", no?"

*The Town Crier coughs a bit as he finishes reading the complicated announcement, he looks at Hjalmar in befuddlement and squinting at the notice in his hand for quite sometime finally he seems to come out of his stupor and replies*
Ahem... *He lowers his voice and motions him closer* Well lad, I've no idea what this letter means, but what I do know is that the Queen has ruled Mistone under that banner for quite sometime now. Now your guess is as good as mine... *He hands him a copy of the letter for safekeeping* But it sounds to me to be one of those crazy diplomatic positions that only two people know what they do. And often one of them always ends up dead.
*He straightens his little colourful jacket and nods to Hjalmar before going on with his usual ... Crying business.*

*upon walking the town crier , usually paying him no mind, this new messege is announced and Rhynn is forced to come to a halt.

Shaking her head she just keeps on her way, somewhat kicking the dirt now as she walks*

"So...." *she sighs now taking her seat at the bench holding her book "Does that make Eldarwen..Queen or just "Beloved" What's the difference?"

*she closes her book and opens a new one, a teleportation tome, but before opening it sees one of the many new adventurers walk into Hlint*

"Welcome to Hlint...Nay, Welcome to Mistone."

*she teleports off*

*Gel'larian exits the Wild Surge after a long and well-deserved bath from his long travel.  After hearing the Town-Criers announcement he approaches with an easy smile on his face.*  Have you met the lady Eldarwen?  Doesn't matter.  Couldn't happen to a finer lady.  Nonetheless, I think you will have quite a few announcements to make, and none in your own words, if you take my meaning.  I am very disturbed by the castle's secrecy these past months.  I just hope Allurial's all right.  She has seen us through a lot, and has made better choices than many, considering the tough times we lived through.  But still, I feel this is just the beginning my friend, the beginning of a new Mistone.  Hopefully changed for the better.

*Enzo mumbles under his breath as he hears the criers speech*

From a servant of The Raging one... to this... not bad Serenity.... not bad....

*The Town Crier in desperate need for an actual name nods to Gel'larian with a somewhat wistful expression as he waves his little flag in a southwards direction*
Yeah well I'm just upset that no one invited to this apparently huge celebration that they had in Spellgard. Really some people just want to hog all the ale. Oh well... I've seen the girl, though she skirts me like the plague, suppose taste is lacking all over the place. Alas.
In any case... I talked to Ameni who apparently WAS at this celebration where an actual understandable explanation was given as to what exactly this whole deal is, thank goodness because I was getting the oddest questions. She told me that the appointment isn't to rule any territory or people, well other than her high standing in the Lucindite church that is. The Queen remains Queen and I'm sure that'll be a complicated mess whenever she passes, but this announcement has nothing to do with that. Instead she is what can be best described as a Magic Watcher or something. Not only making sure that the civilized places don't have crazy people summoning two headed raging camels on us, but also guiding those in need of magical advice and the like.
Really makes you wonder what they pay these people to write these sort of convoluted message! Anyway...! I suppose I'll adjust the message with a Common translation. Thanks lad! And if you see her tell her to not be afraid of me!

*Gel'larian pats him on the shoulder*  Don't take it personally.  These parties are filled with self-important dignitaries anyway, and unless you have a Xeenite caterer, the wine is usually sour.  But I know what you mean about their letter writers.  I wrote a letter to Allurial once and I received a letter back from something like a third undersecretary telling me that the Queen wished me well.  Like he had had tea with her or something!  Well, political banality aside, I know that Eldarwen has the Queen's ear and tries to do the right thing so I hope she can exert her influence.  Take care!  *Gel'larian heads north towards Moraken's, whistling a light, whimsical tune*
