Critical hit multiplier
« on: December 07, 2011, 09:15:03 PM »
Does anyone know what is included in a critical hit multiplier? Here is what I think is included

Weapon base damage
Weapon bonus damage (+3 for mithril for example)
Elemental damage
Strength modifier
Weapon racial bonus damage?

I don't think the following are applied until after the multiplier

Favored enemy
Overwhelming critical?
Bane of enemies?

Thanks

From Critical hit:

Quote from: NWNWiki
All bonuses to damage not specifically excluded from critical hits are added once per damage roll. Examples of sources of damage excluded from critical hits are sneak attacks and on-hit properties.

As undefinitive as that is.

I believe all damage is multiplied with some exceptions (so bane and favor should be multiplied in your example above):

- Darkfire (on-hit property)
- Flame weapon (on-hit property)
- Overwhelm crit (1d6 bonus on crit)
- Sneak damage (1d6, 2d6, etc.)
- any other on-hit things I can't think of...

NWN isn't a straight multiplier though, so I think if you have a x2 crit weapon, it just rolls the damage a second time (instead of multiplying the first roll times the multiplier).  For a x3 it will roll it 2x more to get the final number (which explains why for a x2 sometimes you get odd number total damages)

edit: forgot to add sneak

Oh, I just assumed damage was multiplied by the crit multiplier. So with a x2 I was always expected an even number in the end. Maybe not?
