DDO Anyone?
« on: June 06, 2005, 09:38:00 AM »
I was just wondering if anyone was planning on getting this game when it comes out.  The acronym stands for Dungeons and Dragons Online and it is an MMORPG being developed by Turbine, the same group behind Asheron's Call and Asheron's Call 2.  This game is being developed with full support and sanctioning by Wizards and it takes place in the brand new campaign setting of Eberron.  It has a REALLY nice look to it, and it is D&D after all.  I am thinking about getting it, but only after I determine if there will be a large RP server.

From reading interviews with the developers it would seem the game is party orientated rather than community orientated. Sufficed to say you spend most of your time in a small group dungeon hacking I would imagine.

Fun for the casual now and then but not really a lasting game.

Nah, dont think so, i've been shown over and over again that NWN and Layo still has the best platform for online RP. Besides i've stopped looking for the so called RP'ing game out there. The gaming industry has found out that RP sells. So every game with a sword is now labelled RPG, or MMORPG..whatever...i dont like it...did i go off topic..oh well..

Layonara is the first online game that I have ever played where I felt that the money I donate really matters, and that my contribution makes a difference to the upkeep and well being of the servers and staff of the game. I refuse to go buy a new game for $50, then spend another $15-$25 a month for the priveledge of continueing to use something I've already paid for, then being forced to go out and spend $25-$35 on expansions when they come out. That seems like a lot of money for me to be able to log into some place full of hostile PK schmucks, who despite my years and years of gaming experience will harrass and grief me to the point I give up and quit playing the game... all because they have found a way to hack/crack/dupe/cheat thier way to having the ultimate of everything... and that makes me a N33w8 or whatever.

I'd rather play with adults,

Vyris
