Well there is also the option of buying the Layonara CD which contains all the most recent files. I don't think it's too expensive (Not sure how much it is off hand) and some of the proceeds go to support the monthly cost of running the server. Not to mention it save you from hours upon hours of hassle.
Also, try DLing the files individually rather than getting the All-In-One. It may seem like a lot to download at first, but once you get into the game, you'll understand why it's all required, and for that matter you'll find that it is 100% worth it.
Something else to try is if you have a friend that has a broadband connection and a CD burner, just DL them at his place and burn them onto a CD. Or for that matter, if you have a flash drive that will hold all the files do it that way. If you live in a College town (Like I do) you can usually go up to the school and use their computers for free, simply DL it on their computer, transfer it to a CD or a flashdrive and viola! Layo at your fingertips.
