Wild Elf Weapon Proficiency

This is a minor thought that may have been addressed previously.  After reading the description of the sea elf race and seeing that they start off with weapon proficiency in the trident, longspear, and dagger I thought perhaps if it was possible for the wild elf to start out with a weapon proficiency in the spear as it suits their race. Comments?

spears are in the simple weapon proficiency, and are also part of the druid proficiency, which means other then wizards (sorcerers can use spears mind you) and rogues all classes can use a spear

the reason rogues don't have proficiency in spears is because the rogue proficiency is based on concealment, you can in theory hide a short sword or a rapier, you can't hide a spear, it is too large and combersome

Think I may have confused proficiency with focus.  Proficiency is just the ability to use.  I was thinking of +1 attack bonus with the weapon of choice.  My mistake.
