    Removing DTs.
    « on: October 31, 2005, 01:08:00 PM »
    Heya, just a quick question.

Now, I've got a DT, and my friend has a few as well. But I heard like there are DM quests that you can take to get rid of DTs?

Is there a way to get rid of DTS? (Without appealing for them, due to like lag-related death or something)

    Er...no, not really.
The only way to get a DT removed is if you file a grievance for it, and then only for DTs that should not have occurred...for example from deaths that should not have occurred (i.e. lag, GM mistake, etc).  There's no quest you can do to reduce your DT count.
Well, I suppose you could go talk to the Soul Mother...*snickers*
Edit:  Once you reach epic levels, you can take a Soul Mother Defense, a feat that increases your threshold to perma-death to 15 DTs vs. 10.

Gadzooks! What happens if the character dies, is it lost forever?
Isn't there like a DM quest that other players can do to bring the person back?

Once you hit 10 DT's you'll have the chance to meet the Soul Mother, not exactly the best of friends, hehe.

Wasn't there a chance to get your DT count removed by facing the Soul Mother, like a insanely hard quest to earn your right to live on for a few more time?

Um...this information is on the forums and in the Layonara Player's Handbook....
But yeah, 10 DTs = Permanently dead. The ONLY option at that point is for some nice friends of yours to travel to the Plane of the Lost and bargain with the Soul Mother directly. Anyone who dies on the Plane of the Lost is automatically and permanently dead, regardless of death token count.  If, and it's a big IF, you are successful in negotiating with the Soul Mother, your character will lose exactly one death token and you may return to the living....if you survive the trip back out of the Plane of the Lost.
To date, no one has done it.
Also, to date, maybe 2 or 3 characters have perma-died.

In lieu of the long reply I wrote...

        Thanks for your post.  Rhizome
And, yes. The information about it is all over. I wish it sounded scarier to do that whole deterring bit. :)

woo don't worry Ted, i'd help ye get one lousy DT removed it you got 10 DT.................not. its just plain not worth it. it would be your thought for walking around in a dangerous place....although it could be fun to attempt! ....although i would then also be dead.....but if i had only one to go to die i would do it..cause i would have nothing to lose!  ;)
