    The Writings of a Scholar
    « on: February 02, 2006, 01:30:06 PM »
Welcome to "The Writings of a Scholar". This is a vast and wonderous insight into the many travels and adventures of a traveling reasearcher and scholar, Malvolio Simmons. Here is a little back story to Malvolio so you may achieve a better understanding of just who he is.

    -----------------

    Race: Human
    Class: Wizard
    Deity: Aragen
    Allignment:True Neutral
    Age: 55
    Name: Malvolio Simmons

    Description:

Malvolio Simmons is a kind old man and can be seen as quite the gentleman. He cares much for the Lore of this land and the preservation of its history and artefacts. He is a keen Scholar and Reasearcher and has a knack for Alechemy and Spell Scribing. He also has a tedious and on going hobby of learning the languages of other races, due to his love of dielect and how each different language works in many different ways. He currently has started to learn Gnomish and Elvish.
He studies greatly the mystical powers of Wizadry to aid him and protect him from any threat that he may come across. He only uses it when neccesary and if in self defence, or even if another is in dire need of help. He began wizadry in his early 20s when his grandmother was still alive. She was a well abled wizard and taught him intil she passed away. He swore that he would keep his Wizadry skills going in the name of his Grandmother and has continued ever since. He is remarkably fit and is lively in his travels with others aswell as on his own. He is usually quite the character to communicate with on any subject.

    Eye Colour: Blue
    Skin Colour: Pale (ish)
Facial Hair/ Hair: White/grey (ish) and well groomed beard
    Height: 5'5 m
Physical Flaws: A slightly burnt hand from a past injury. It is now only a warning to others who wish to achieve crafting a highly sophisticated potion with little experience.

    EXTRA BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

    1. Malvolio Simmons married to a beautiful evlven woman named Sherona. they spent time adventuring togethor and discovering for 10 years. after 3 of them they married and has a son named Johnathan Simmons. Sadly though, Sheronas elven house dissagreed with the marriage, especially after bringing a "half-breed" into the world. They took Sherona away with them, as well with Johnathan. Malcolio did not see his son for many years intill now. Johnathan is a thriving salesman and the magickal arts have come naturally to him.

Sadly, for his wife. She had lost contact with Johnathan through an ship wreck out at sea 5 years ago before their finding each other again. what has become of her is unknown and it pains Malvolio greatly.

    2. Malvolio, in his -rather- old age can be known of complaining mildly. He complains mostly about his "old legs" and "old eyes". He does not run too far, as even in his physical condition he seems to run out of energy rather quickly. Even through his knowledgeable and wise nature, he can sometimes be forgetful and "senile".

      Entry - (1)

      Dear Journal,

I have finally arrived back to Hlint. It has always been a very relaxing town and used to throughly enjoy passing through often. Now that I may do so again, and enjoy its peaceful tranqulity. I have a new air about me, a good feeling which I have not felt in quite a while.

I have returned from distant shores due to the many rumors which keep springing up from what seems all over. Many artefacts and unexplained rumors have been talked about of late and I feel compeled to explore. upon my arrival, it seems I have been thrown straight into the chaos of adventure. It has been a while since I have had any combat but I feel intruiged to let life take its course and lead me into the fray of discovery!

My first taste of my old, youhtful and adventurous self seemed to shine out after being greeted in a friendly manner by an Drow Elf named Alynderil. I kind old gentleman, though the "trademark" looks of an Drow did not seem to apparent, seeing as he is much older than I, he is still a Drow at heart. That I can see through is continuing "drow like" attitude which I have learnt to enjoy. He led me out on my first campaign to help him collect some Cougar pelets.

I was also aquainted with two of his friends, an Half Giant and an Dwarf. their names have left me now, old age can be a burden at times! They are outstanding warriors with a knack for winning no matter what the foe it seems. We soon past desolate areas, such as Fort Llyast and more rather wet areas such as the Zainge River. It was quite a hike for these old bones but I stood strong and made it!

It was a shame seeming as his friends needed to leave on other private buisness. But we persued adventure in due haste! we came across an upset girl who had been scared out of the crypt but an undead. we decided to go and investigate, I was curious due to the ammount of history burried deep insode these catacombs! I still do remain skeptical as we did not make it very far. It seems our fates turned for the worst, we barely made it out alive but luckily escaped!

This is where events became more interesting, more to the point on why I had traveled back to Hlint in the first place. One rumor which intruiged me greatly was one of a Lich's speacial skin. It is said "The process of becoming a lich is never a particularly pleasant one, certainly not something you would care to be reminded of I can imagine. One lich however, a female by the name of Farile Whipwind decided to keep a memorabilia.

Farile, ever the vain mage (aren’t they all?) refused to live out eternity in the skeletal form she was forced to take. Instead she took her the skin from her body as she was transformed into a lich and had it formed into a robe. The robe would fit over her whole body disguising, all be it badly, her bony form.

The robe had hair sewn into it, even eye lashes and brows. In dark light, or poor vision one would almost consider her human.

As the years progressed, Farile spent most of her time enchanting the robe to improve her looks. Upon completion, who ever was to don the robe would be perceived as the true visage of feminine beauty.

An untimely end was to greet the lich after an adventuring party raided her tower. Most unfortunate it was that the majority of the party turned out to be female.

Little has been heard of the artifact since, although one appearance was noted in the shape of a siren, said to hunt the broken forest. This is the last known sighting of Lich Skin."

This only compleled me to go to this "Broken" Forest to survey the area. I was told of the direction to take and was accumponied by my friend Alynderil and this man named Fyn. Before starting our newest venture, another drow who's name, yeat again i cannot remember sent us through a much quicker root up through the desolate areas of Fort Llyast. upon our arrival we were met by a disturbed Halfling. she told us not to go into the forest due that there are Undead beings swarming the area.

This obvioulsly must have been the work of such a creature of what I seeked. It showed many sign of it being there. so, against the words of the Halfling we treked on in. It was dark and most gloomy. as we carried on through the dark we discovered a faint light coming from through the trees. as we approached we were able to make out a singl grave, surrounded by a dence fog. I was the first to step out and investigate it, followed by Alynderil. As I examined the area around the grave, engroused in deep thought I suddenly felt a presence behind me. it was a peculiar thing. As I turned I saw a faint shadow-like creatured with glowing, white eyes.

That is the last thing I remember, as after I gazed into its eyes I awoke in the temple in Port Llyast. I had no memory of what had happened but I feel driven to go back there. this only strengthens my theorys about weather or not it is truly myth or fact. This has proven to me something is out there! I am to rally my party again, maybe some more protection from these unknown creatures and track down the source of this bizzare incidents that are occuring in that troubled forest.
