Scribblings on ruined parchment- Valoric's Inner Thoughts
    « on: May 05, 2006, 03:36:31 AM »
    Day One:

I'm writtin' this all down as I ain't fully sure that I'll be 'memberin' it all later.
I 'woke this mornin' to a reality dif'rent than that o' the one I's known last night. I 'member, if hazy like, walkin' down a forest road... but nothin' more than that. But now here I be, someplace dif'rent, an nothin' to be gained in whinin' bout it like some nurseling human. A nurseling I ain't! I's met a number o' people today, but no fellow dwarves in this place, named Hlint, to my thinkin'. Seemin' likes tha town's got itself a bit o' a goblin problem, an after bein' offered some work by one o' the guards, I set out to find me some fun. Fool that guard was, I woulda bashed them stickheads fer free!

A'fore I got outside them there gates, though, I met a man who called hisself Sallaron. He was goin' to bash stinkin' goblins too, an asked me if'in he could join me. I ain't one to deny my protectin' ta others so I said he could. A'fore long we had them goblins turnin them stinkin' tails an runnin. Sallaron showed me a good place to camp in tha area an' pointed out all tha places them goblins favored for them ambushes o' theirs. He'd been very helpful, though I be worryin' about them magiks he was usin', 'specialy as he kept usin' them on me!

After clearin' an entire camp o' the beasts, an slayin thir leader, a nasty shaman, I'm 'memberin', we was appraoched by another tall man, named hisself as Jeremy. Seemed he was knowin Sallaron already, so the threes of us set out to clear them goblins from a nearby mine. (Seems that Sallaron wanted to get his hands on some o' the copper inside!) Jeremy proved hisself a worthy fighter, but unhappily, he's also always castin them magiks! Together we threes bashed many goblins right in their own caves, where we rescued an orcish lass who had run all afoul like with them goblins, killing many, includin' the leader o' their clan. I find that them goblins proved a tricky target to hit wid me bow, so I've begun usin' my axe more. Likes I told Jeremy, "good fer choppin' wood, good fer choppin' heads!" We pushed even deeper, till we finally gots Sallaron's copper. Then we all went an' left fer the surface.

When we finaly returned, we all said tha "goodbye" and went each our own ways. I learned lots from my protectin' of the tall folks, watchin' the ways in which Jeremy swinged, an' Sallaron shot, an' I thinks them to be usefull fer their help and knowledge. If'in they'd only walk slower, to match me shorter legs!

      Day Two:

I keep meetin' tall folks, an' they keep castin' magiks on myself! Today I been helpin' another priest named hisself as Abraham. Funny name, ain't it? We hunted even more o' the Red Light critters, a'fore running into Sallaron agin. Since we's feelin' stout hearted, we set back into them goblin mines. This time we went even farther than we be goin' last time. Sallaron told us o' what a menace the goblin overload was, an' that to slay him may finaly remove them stinkin' stickheads fer good. Well, we's set out to smash that there thing, an we's smashed it good-like, but a'fore we make it out 'gain, we be ambushed by more o' the beasts! Seemin' like there be no end to da stickheads, an' that saddens me an that makes meh happy at tha same time. I ain't want ta stop smashin' the beasts!

A'fore we leaved the caves, we's run into a horrible beast! An ugly brute, lookin' like an ogre, only smaller. If'in not fer me companions, I's likely to have smashed that beast too! I hope that I's might find that creature again, an' alone!

Meh trainin' with me axe been makin' me better at smashin' heads. I feel one of what them tall folks calls an "infinity" fer it. Hrm... that dun' sound like the word they said... but it dun matter! Me axe is fittin' better than ever in meh palm, and even better in them goblin faces!

Day... 3? 4? I's lost track o' how many nights have past me over the head...

Met me a strange one today, by the namin' Mesnik. His name was none the strangest 'bout hin neither! He aint human, though he looks like one, kinda, but with horns 'top his head an' a fire in da eyes. Strange too was tha way he mixed magiks and steel, thowin spells and carryin' a great big sword all together like. 'Spite his dark looks I 'cided to take him under tha protection too, an we headed into tha sewers, wheres we heard there was a ratman hidin'! We's find him a'fore too long and killed him good, returnin some lost property he's stolen from tha town. We the we huntin' up top, where I showed Mesnik where's the best place to find stickhead ears an' badger pelts.

Not much long after that we ventured into tha mines... this been my third time at least(!) an' they's just keep comin back. We met many strange and unusal-like persons down in there also lookin' fer the new leader o' them stickheads, 'cluden a dark elf, a monk, a powerful wizard an a mighty pretty halflin', almost dwarf cute! We's killed that goblin' leader after much waitin', restin' and runnin' in circles, but it be well worth it. I's glad we cleared the new leader o' them stickheads, but I be fearin' he won' be the last o' them to scratch hisself a way to power. I wonderin' if'in its not all a waste o' our time to go lookin' after them all the times. Maybe we ought ta just seal tha cave off an lock 'em in good?
