Attention, OOC
« on: September 02, 2006, 04:10:05 PM »
I am alwese amased at how fast things spread OOC, and then how fast they mix into our IC. there was a incodent today that i told maybe 2 or 3 people about, and now im told its being talked about on IRC, and then im getting questions from people threw Tells IG about this, and none should know about it. My mistake for telling the few i did, im sorry i did that and im disapointed that people spread things like this, i hope i wont make that mistake again. I would just like to request that if something is said to you OOC, that dosent mean run off and tell everyone else OOC, becouse it WILL get IC and people that should have had no idea AT ALL, will be knowing what happened, or will be less suspiciouse or whatever, it effects RP in a negitive way. This was my mistake, i shouldent have said anything, i know people cant keep there mouths shut.

So yea, Please let this be a reminder that things said OOC do not need to be spread all over, and in this case it will effect RP for a number of people becouse they know what happened already and will react differently then they would have otherwise.

---
Disclamer: Please excuse anything in here that might be in anyway offenive, this kinda thing really bites my butt and get me going.

Uhm...But the only reason I was going crazy was because -you- sent me a tell and told me you did something than wouldn't tell me what. If you didn't want me to get curious you shouldn't have said anything OOC to me. It's not good decourum to hang information half way over someone's face and then refuse to tell them what's going on.

becouse he was going to talk to you about it IC, and i dident want to spoile it, when i started getting tells and hearing that it was being yacked about on IRC, i changed my mind. By giving you a taist of what happened, i was tring to get the part of telling rhynn done quickly becouse you would have been more anxiouse to learn what happened. But yea, as i said before, it was my mistake for telling people.

Don't you two think that this is an argument better taken private than venting at each other on the public forum?

Folks please keep your posts friendly and not targeted in anyone in particular, if you need to speak to someone personally please speak to them personally if you need a hand then ask a gm to intervene.

With all due respect I disagree, seeing as I don't think he was refering only to me, but I still however felt the need to reply.

I've also noticed that talking IC matters OOC-ly isn't all that great. Especially if that person tells someone else who tells someone else and... Well, after 4 or 5 bounces when it has come back to you again, you notices that that's not in fact what you meant in the first place (usually changed for the worse). Different people interept different things differently. And it grows worse and worse for each step... :(

So, my policy right now is quite simple: Only OOC-ly discuss IC-matters with people who are affected by it. Unless it is something that has no consequences at all. :)

I've never really experienced such a problem exactly, but I have been in situations where my reaction was "How in the nine hells does he know that?!?" It's really a pain where something leaks out that you have maybe told one character about IC and on the next day half of the server knows. The worse is, you can not undo it, you can't just post on the server and say that information about X is off limits. I understand how you feel Logan, it's a tough one.

I've been in those situations alot myself... its why I hardly ever made journal entries and would only give a certain percent of what I wanted to give of all the information ooc wise to my freinds in game.  Most things on Lia were in notebooks I wrote out while I had some time on my hands and didn't want to forget something as well as typed out on my desktop.  Just tossed all those out today though.

Heh, guess I wont have to worry about that for awhile.

You should really take those out of the trash while you can. You will someday want to write a review of your character for the handbook, the tomb or the Willow's Wisp, lots of reason, and then you'll miss them.

During my last computer hardware problem I lost my journal, man did it suck. It had all the names, all the quests, the locations of all resources by the area, information on various guilds, people, events etc. Now unfortunately I don't remember half of the things (including the Angel Tears details, that quests needs a seperate book) This journal was created on the day Layonara V2 came out (imagine how huge it was) and it's been a huge pain to loose it.

So the point to all of this....DON'T throw them away!

And yeah, OOC and metagaming was a part of why I never liked journals, as soon as I started one, something extremely secret happened and I quit writing.... oh and it just happened again *shakes his head*

Anyway, it's late....time to go to sleep....what was I talking about...nevermind

I'll keep the journals I have typed out on my computer, but the books are going, they were getting messy, and held no huge relevance, except for quests already done and future plans for Lia.  I still have my WLDQ submission which entails alot of Lia's life without all the added detail, that I'm definately keeping... I will have some keepsakes... but sometimes a person needs some closure and move on.

Wow, this almost is sounding like a breakup... I need some beer.
