Blinding Speed

As an epic feat that requires 25 dexterity, I think this feat could use a little love.  I am doubting that anyone on the server has or will ever take this feat due to the extremely short duration of it.  And if they take it as a character building feat, I kinda feel bad for them.  As it is, it is the equivalent of a low level haste spell.  Usable once per day.

Seems to me it should last about 5-10 minutes based on how difficult it is to get, and the fact that most level 20 mages can cast a 4 minute haste probably 6-12 times per day.  Or make it multiple usage.

It's a neat feat with a fun animation to throw around, I'd love to see it get some love so that it's appealing.

Just an idea though.

I believe i had suggested an improvement for the feat a long time ago, i had suggested to make it last longer based on one's Dexterity modifier, like + Rounds equal to the mod.

Anyway, the feat is sadly a waste as it is, you're better served with multiple Haste scrolls and/or potions. :(

How about a number of rounds equal to your dexterity score? That would make it worthwhile. Or a number of times a day equal to your DEX score, with a duration of one minute.

I like that idea.  Also if it could add on a permanent movement rate bonus of say +10 or +20 feet per round, somewhere between barbarian speed and monk speed, that would make the feat more useful in the long run.  It's supposed to represent that you you have blinding speed based upon your physical abilities after all, and not just a short burst of adrenaline.  If it was the latter, it would be better defined as "pedestrian rage".

I think Blinding Spell should share some of the mechanical aspects of Barbarian Rage, except it is based off of dexterity instead of constitution.

    • If it were to have multiple uses per day, instead of just once, I would suggest that the Epic PC's dexterity modifier be used to determine just how many times they could do it in a day. (For example a staggering 30 dex would make for 10 uses in a day.)
    • The duration should be the dexterity modifier expressed in rounds to generate a duration. (For example, a character with a Dexterity mod of 10 would have a sixty second, or 10 round, duration.)
    • I see no reason why any sort of fatigue should be applied afterwards.
As far as these kind of feats go, with uses per day based off of some other aspect, it is comparable with a Barbarian Rage or a Divine Might/Divine Shield from a Paladin or Cleric with enough Charisma. This is would be an Epic feat limited to very few classes and players that would add flavor and flaire, which is at the same level mechanically as a feat a class is given, and two feats that can be taken at level 3. :) I really think this is an interesting idea and I am going to check NWvault for any modifications of it.
