Temple donation receipts

Is there a need for players to keep temple donation receipts, aside from RP purposes? Is it OK to throw them away or is there some future mechanism planned?

I don't think there is a need to keep them. They tell you how much the temple valued each of your things at but beyond that and record keeping I don't think there is a function for them.

Are they making lag?

Every item you have increases lag a little (login lag, at least).

But, with the receipts, it's quite easy way to fix that. Just store them in a parchment folder! ;)

I Like to make donations "in the name of temple X" to help support current donation projects like the rebuilding of Rodelm without weighing poor Jennara down with 50 HEAVY iron weapons and 40 musical instruments at every donation increment.  In my mind, it sort of validates a "missionary" motiff of temples helping communities, gaining prestige from contribution to humanitarian causes.  Kind of like how Jehovah's Witness feel good about themselves for helping war-torn 3rd world nations in times of trouble.

I ask the team's input as to whether this should be accepted as such.  I personally see it as a win/win situation of temples gaining prestige for acts of philanthropy, on top of helping boost donation ratings on the other end of things.  Furthermore, when players donate so much of their time accepting donations, I kind of like to not weigh them down to ludicrous encumbrance when making said donations.  Common courtesy in my mind.  In the long run it heps decrease the filesize of the housing inventory, and helps keep excessive items out of the loop of active character hoarding property/community economy.  (if Bjornigar SOLD all of the armors he could MAKE, it'd be a sad wholesale situation indeed)  Ultimately I like downsizing my inventory to help the lag situation AND helping rebuild war-torn areas at the same time.  What do you guys think?

Jennara would actually prefer the items themselves, though getting lots in boxes is better than getting lots loose and individually.  She very rarely has to go far to find a storehouse, where items are quickly crated and shipped off to Roldem.  Overnight delivery, baby!  It cuts out the middleman, see?  She can get right to packing and not worry about checking up on Temples to make sure things are actually being sent, and that she is not being used as a mobile trashcan for these slips of paper.

But it's still a good question about the receipts.  It seems that donating to a temple and passing on receipts for the same items is kinda double dipping, at least when there is no oversight.  Take the instruments donated to the Temple of Ilsare as an example.  The automated donation recording stuff only shows that, say, ten harps came in, and not that they were requested to be a donation to Roldem.  If the DMs don't know they were intended for Roldem and I record them as donations, then the number of harps has doubled to twenty, in a sense, because now ten families in Tibum have harps to play with and the Temple still "officially" has those ten harps to use for its own purposes.  It's a bureaucratic nightmare.

Speaking of which, what exactly is happening with rebuilding Rodelm?  Millions of Gp and thousands of items and 12 years of gametime later, and all I see there are the same big smoldering craters from the initial invasion and 50 Mistone Alliance Flags.  I sure hope there's no Red Cross misappropriation of funds scandal going on here. ;)  jk.  Still, I'd like to see some kind of quota of goods still needed else Bjorn's fixing to go Jimmy Carter and just physically BUILD the structures with wood and nail instead of sending items.  I know that thread's somewhere, just can't find it.

*wonders what the ophans are going to do with 500 iron greatswords anyway*

I was going to make a new post from Jennara about that a few days ago and kinda forgot.  I'll write myself a note.
