    Sacred Fist question
    « on: January 25, 2007, 05:43:18 PM »
I was reading up on the Sacred Fist class, and noticed under the requirements it says "ability to cast divine spells." Now, being that the sacred fist relies solely on unarmed combat, it could be a great class for a monk to go into. Does the 'ability' to cast divine spells mean that you have to multiclass from a spellcasting class, or simply have enough WIS to be able to cast divine spells?

You need divine spellcasting, so Cleric multiclass is needed (Druid works on PnP, not sure about here). A Cleric/Monk or a Cleric with the necessary feats qualifies for the PrC.

Paladins were mentioned in the class description as possible canidates, if less numerous than clerics.

Classes that cast divine spells (according to NWN): Cleric, Druid, Paladin, Ranger

I'm not positive whether Sacred Fist is freely multiclassable with Paladin in any organization though iirc the brothers of battle might allow a Paladin/Sacred Fist character to be freely multiclassable.

Don't forget the rules of multiclassing monks on this one. They can't freely multiclass, and once out you'll never be allowed back in (and you need 5 levels before level 20). At least, that's how I read them.

The sacred fist PrC is mainly meant to be something clerics can multiclass into for flavor. Kinda like almost monks with divine abilities instead of just the spiritual monk stuff.

Though I guess you could do it with druids or rangers too but that seems a bit strange to me. Paladin maybe but cleric makes most sense.

I personally don't see a point in multiclassing from Monk to Sacred Fist. Stat-wise, lvl 20 monk vs monk10/10 sacred fist hit's faster, does 1d20 +3 vs 1d12 +1 damage, has spell resistance, dr, and quivering palm, plus cool glowy eyes and (I think) better saves, and it moves faster! rp-wise, there is no reason to become sacred fist, as opposed to just playing a devoted monk.

I agree with IDii, the descriptions and stats and requirements of the Sacred fist all point to a cleric as a base class.
