You have discovered the Lag-Jump. Sometimes, during high server lag, you will be placed on the wrong part of the map after a transition. This is usually in the equivalent map location as you were in when you left the last area. Sometimes this means you land on another transition point, putting you in next area. So it isn't unheard of to appear to skip an area by jumping from one transition to another.
