I arrived in Port Hempstead in the evening. The streets were empty, except for a few dock workers. It was strange, I have never been anywhere except Denshou and the monastery (and a swift trip through the capitol city to get to the ship bound for here). I concidered asking some of the dockworkers about my mother, but they seemed too busy, and, for the most part, unfriendly, so I decided to wait until morning. I found a place to sleep in the center of the city, at the base of a towering statue.
I have now been asking around the city about my mother for a few weeks now. I asked in some buisnesses hoping she had found a job, and stopped some people on the streets. No one knows anything, and I fear that since I have so little to go on, it is going to be difficult. I am not even sure she stayed in this city or moved on. I wont give up.
One of the city workers asked me to go into the sewers to see why the were getting clogged. Hoping that she may give me some food if I found the problem, I agreed. I knew the rats I encountered could not be the problem, but they kept attacking me, forceing me to leave to recover. When I finally was able to get in deeper, I ran across another creature that appeared to be half man half lizard. I tried a few times and could not defeat him.
I returned to the main square to meditate, hoping to find the inner strength to complete this task, and met a very kind woman, who healed me of the wounds I had received. Her name was Rose. She offered to assist me, and with her help, we delved deep into the sewers and defeated a creature that was causing the problem.
Since then I have continued asking around about my mother. I don't want to leave the city until I have exausted all possibility that she is not here.
I will have to venture out soon though, for the captain of the guard asked me to look into a camp near the city.
