The Son of a Furniture Salesman
    « on: February 01, 2009, 11:37:05 PM »
Until yesterday I had been pretty lonely since Mom and Dad died.  I'm sure glad that I decided to get out and start pursuing the blessings of Deliar on the people of Layonara.  Almost immediately I met a beautiful young woman named Iris, all dressed in a very colorful orange.  She was so nice a helpful, she introduced me to a few other adventurers and they helped me increase my worth by taking me to a man in Fort Vehl.  Our task was to retrieve some mummy dust from the local crypt.  Our mission was successful and Deliar's blessings were upon me as the man paid 200 True for the dust.  This helped me aquire some needed equipment for my future needs.  I also collected many skeleton knuckles that I hope to be able to trade for other equipment or coin.  My luck wasn't done there as later that same day I met a man named Earl, elderly but still in great shape, he has the arms of an Orc.  We attempted to find some work in Wayfare, but nothing panned out.  As it turns out, Earl is an expert brewer and he let me sample a couple of his products.  His Xeenite wine was delicious and his Will'o'whiskey was very strong.  I asked him if he was interested in setting up a shop or a bar but he didn't take any interest in it.  With a talent like that I will continue to look to involve him in future trading endeavors.  Unfortunately my first day out in the big adventuring world also showed me the harshness of the bindstone.  I care not to do that again and will try to be more careful in the future.  I was harvesting sugar cane near the outskirts of Krandor when I was suddenly overcome by an Ogre brute.  It was foolish of me for being caught so off-guard and unprepared, I will try not to let that happen again in the future.  There is much work to be done as I need to increase my skills to craft useful items for my use and others, I believe that if I can make products that people need then I could use that to benefit not only myself but others as well.  Perhaps even one day establish a store or commission one.  For now there is much to learn and I will continue to make contacts throughout all my travels.

My travels continue and by the blessings of Deliar I've had success in completing several tasks when propositioned by various individuals around the towns of Mistone.  I've even had the good fortune of earning enough true to purchase a new set of chainmail made of copper.  This was a huge improvement to the rusty chain shirt I had been wearing previously and no doubt improve my chances of favorably influencing perspective traders with it's beauty and shine.  Of course I'll be looking to upgrade to iron when able.

Still no progress on opening an establishment, but I did manange to meet several new people who are candidates for furture trade.  One woman, who I only know as "T", was most helpful in saving me from the grasp of the kobolds in the outskirts of Port Hempstead.  She mentioned that she could make armor and shields.  As we were in company with a brother-sister duo, followers of Toran.  The existence of constant bickering between "T" and this sister made it difficult to properly negotiate a trade agreement and I shall need to seek her out in the future to finish the conversation and find out her interest in doing so.  Talent she had, but her disposition seemed a bit dark and pessimistic.

My favor with Deliar continues to improve as he has seen fit to bestow upon me additional blessings thru improved ability.  I can only assume that he is pleased with my emphasis on promoting trade and therefore will continue to seek his blessings by doing more of the same.

So much has happened since I last wrote in my journal....I'll try to collect a few thoughts.

My resolve to avoid death has been, let's say less than successful.  I'm finding that the life of an Adventurer
is a very dangerous and hard one.  Being seasoned by life's experiences can sometimes be painful, even emotional.
Today I had a very unpleasant and costly trip into the Haven mines.  Initially my plan was simply to go in just
to see how difficult the creatures are that inhabit it...apparently the ogres that used to run the mine were
overthrown by a stonger group of Gnolls.  The local townfolk are not sure what to think other than the fact that
the mine is dangerous and of almost no worth to them in it's current state.  Anyway, a woman, Leisa took the lead
of our group that included Vrebel, Tralek, and Sammy.  After the first encounter, it was clear to me that without
the benefit of the blessings that come through prayer or the Al'Noth we would not be able to go on, but for some
reason, we did go on.  I should have been more forceful in stating my opinion *the ink in the journal is clearly
darker and somewhat messy here as the emotion flows to the writing hand*.  Sammy and I died at the bottom
fighting a large group of Gnolls including what I believe to be thier leader.  From what I understand, Leisa,
Tralak, and Vrebel fought long and hard killing many but the leader and a few others retreated into some other
tunnels.  There was evidence of another group of adventurers who met thier demise at the same location and Leisa
found some raise dead scrolls with which she used to bring us back to life.  The story does not end there however.
Unfortunately, in our weakened state, not being able to fully recover from our deaths and having no rest to call
upon additional help from Deliar or the Al'Noth the journey out prooved costly for me.  A second death and a visit
from the Soul Mother *his eyes begin to tear up as he clutches his chest from the pain inside*.  I'm sure that
Deliar has a plan for me by teaching me these lessons.

On to happier notes, trading has been going well and I feel much better equipped lately.  The Angel's Guild has been
most helpful, very good business decision for them to accept trade for particular items they desire in exchange for
raw materials.  I've also had some success with a few independent craftsmen.
