Mossfeild caravans- discussion
« on: June 01, 2009, 02:44:07 PM »
I didn't want to start a discussion on my thread in the trade forum, so I posted here.

I need to work some things out regarding this little thing I've made, as I've realized as an afterthought that there are potential exploits and a level of unfairness to other players even though it brings on some interesting RP by having a Deliarite ran caravan.

For one, for a level ten PC to be able to buy large quantities of platinum. etc (even though I can't mine it..... yet.....) is a bit asinine, and defeats the purpose of suffering to mine the bloody stuff. While varied pricing per customer is a good factor of limitation, (I know well that that likely only applies to me seeing as I can find very small quantities of true while others the same level end up with like.... i dunno, 100,000Tr+ ?) Level restrictions could be used as well.

Also, there are other new players looking to make true. While I want to keep this going, as it presents great RP, has potential as a guild later on, and for me, get my PC some true to actually buy stuff every now and then... While I have an Idea for this (being that I just start a "selling" station, and trade can occur between buyers and sellers there... but not sure how that'll work...), there are three other things I could do.... A) close down shop and just rush for who ever asks for Ore first..... B) buy ore off other people, and resell it to others, C) just redirect people to others I know who are willing/wanting to sell copper, etc for true...

I'd just like some input from others on how to make this a level playing field, while keeping a great RP element...

Here is my thought. About selling things that a char can't get, that has always been done unfortunatly with all guilds. So you shouldn't worry to much about that. You provide a service, and the cost goes with it. If they can't get the ore themselves, there is a good chance they can't afford it either, as the best loot would be in the heigher hunting grounds.

Also for those who would want to make some trues? sub contract them to get you some of the stuff. You give them a percentage, and you keep the rest as the trader.

I agree with Hellblazer... I think he just about summed up capitalism.

Eh, if minstone wasn't capitalistic, then hempstead wouldn't be run by a council of organazed merchant, where the officials (duke).. are bassically just a poster boy.

While I think we all appreciate your efforts to keep things fair, if you've got a good business you're running, that happens to meet a need that isn't otherwise met, make all the money you want off of it.

The economy stabilizes itself, eventually, and one person getting stupid-filthy-rich isn't going to hurt anything, as while some have to kill lots of monsters to make a lot of money... That money's still being worked for by the merchant.
