Not sure of your time zone so here is a start. Sitting on a log by the fire in Center;
-heading down the road to your right past the caravan and bird messenger takes you toward Port Hempstead Fields and then to the city, with a split in the road that leads to Fort Vehl; watch for signs. This is usually safe if you stay on the road as patrols and trade are heavy on this route.
-heading straight past the craft hall and entrance to the crypts is safe for a while, but orcs have attacked from this direction before and the mountains become increasingly unsafe as you move in. The gnoll watchtower is in this direction as is the desert. There are few or no patrols beyond the good-hearted adventurer and/or Rofierinite training.
-heading to the left, past the town crier, takes you toward Wayfare. This route is again heavily traveled and usually safe; outside Wayfare though, stick to the trees or the roads, and watch your step. Running out this way can attract unwanted attention.
-heading up and to the left, past the craft hall and then past the herbalist's house, there is a forested area that is not safe for the dewy-eyed adventurer going alone; take a friend. Bandits sometimes pass through and use this wooded cover to plan heists on the long stretches between towns.
If you wish a guide merely post and as Aphel said someone will make time to meet with you and squire you around!
