Unused buildings in Hlint?

I was wondering if its possible to open a store in one of the unused buildings in hlint. Like the house next to the bindstone (i think its unused). If someone could point me toward a previous post or somthing about having i guess custom areas built, i would be most grateful. Also would like to have an idea how much it would cost my character in game. Thanks!

Unused buildings are NPC housing, and generally serve a purpose for GMs during quests, impromtu events and the like.
As for opening your own dedicated store, well, that's quite a process. You'll need a guild first, and then you'll need an insane amount of money.

As far as opening unused buildings there are just too many in other places except Hlint. I'd like to see the players encouraged to really branch out to other areas. This can be done despite level limitations. One thing that I'm sure has been addressed a thousand times is - this small town is treated as the megacenter of the PC world - this is just a friendly note to players to please remember that even though Hlint is the place to start off in, it's a far cry from the center of the universe. Traveling to Dregar can be done without fighting anything yet in Pranzis the district of the guilds is virtually unused. The gold required for Ship tickets is modest yet I'm sure it will continue to serve as a deterrent. There are so many places of potential housing that lie vacant yet overlap in housing requests are constantly occuring in Hlint. Force it if you will, but I'd love to see the day when Pranzis is packed with PC's of various levels when no DM quest is scheduled to be held. I'm sure it's happened, but it's rare. Encouraging housing here may encourage PC's to branch out from a small dirt town.

merchent PCs stay wround hlint mainly i thank becouse that is where teh low levels are, the freash meat, the buyers. id love to see hampshire as the main area at least. Pranzis would be great, but deurgar is really ment for high levels, a level 1 can do nothing but walk through if he is lucky. if hampshire became to main area, then PCs could recomend that lower levesl ehad to hlint for wrok, but hampshire would be the place to go if you wanted to buy somthing from a pc.

How 'bout making everybody start off in Pranzis?
Make it all important THAT way. Otherwise you're just not going to get a bajillion people in Pranzis instead of Hlint because humans are lazy. And there are things that can, in fact kill you between Mistone and Dregar. There is no path through Rilara that I have found that is completely danger free. To have to go there (On to Central Server no less, so you won't know when your buddies are on, etc), you have to pass through a heck of a lot of... everything. And then once you're in Pranzis, what can you do? Back to Mistone to gather crafting supplies, if that's your thing.
Sorry, but you're not to get anyone that isn't level 15 or up to live in Pranzis very easily. It's very isolated, surrounded by death on every side. If there were low-level creatures around there, and copper mines and iron mines, and so forth, I guarantee you, that's where Turor'd live. But there aren't, so he doesn't. And thus, overpopulation in Hlint.
Trouble is, everyone who IS level 15+ owns houses in Hlint. So the real only solution for those of lower level is to create a lot of new houses on Mistone.
Also, Quests start off in Hlint 9/10, or in an area 3 - 4 screens away. So it's probably best to stick to Hlint for the RP.
Let's recap my suggestion to the DM and Development teams then:
-Make more houses in Hlint
-Make far easier encounters around Pranzis
-Start quests off on Central a lot more, especially for low-level characters, so that they can really branch out around the world.
-Make me breakfast
These are the options presently available to fix the problem, and as evidence suggests, nothing has happened to remedy it much. Of course, it shall continue to be unremedied until a world-builder can get the time to change... everything... about Central. C'est la vie.

Of those that have a place of residence, so far the only places that I have been to, are Krandor,Haven and Leilon. High Point seems a good location, though for me anywhere that there is forest nearby and perhaps a seaport within a good distance, and because I am low level(under 10th). I'm not going to trot off to Pranzis to go where all the guilds are. Also after looking at the map, my character is not going to hop a ship and venture to the southern most continent to get to Karthy. The character is not that stupid, if anything, she would try to set up a place to have an altar in which to pray and to rest.

I don't really go far from Hlint because all my friends are there and I like to meet new people and help them. Also all the CNR I need are in range, apart from I am struggling to find a few. I do go to Port Hampshire, I went to spellgard but like nothing is there...
