    Apologies to Lissea (Leafgreen)
    « on: August 19, 2005, 06:44:00 PM »
Sorry about my character Kain Roman barging in and killing that goblin you were fighting in the Wastelands a few moments ago... You ran off saying "you thief!" before you heard me explain and say I was sorry. I just saw you getting hit and bleeding a lot (badly wounded) and didn't have time to ask if I should help or not.

I'm not certain whether you were RPing or really upset, so I decided to post here.

Beware those goblins, They are tough for levels 3 and under, especially if you're fighting on your own. If you ever need help in any fight though, don't be afraid to ask! Layonara is full of helpful people :)

EDIT: It is clear from your further in-game responses that you were not RPing and you want to be left alone. If that is your wish, then that's what I'll do.
However, I disagree with the name "Kill-Thief" you called me, since I killed that goblin with intentions to help, not torment, offend or steal (a goblin isn't even worth much xp for Kain anyway, he's at level 4).

"Kill theif" is an ooc term for an ooc concept, and shouldn't be heard in IC discourse.

"loot theif" however is a very IC concept, and a reason most people would get rather irked.

Well, some people come from a server with very OOC concepts used in regular, in character, speaking. Such as PKer, in the place of "murderer" or "killer". Kill-Thief is just yet another one of them. I believe it has no place here. If I were wounded, and someone came up behind whatever was making me wounded, I would gladly thank them.

Thinking just like what was explained above is what begins to destory servers.

Yeah, heh like me when I first got here.  I thought using party chat as OOC was a standard convention *grins sheepishly*

When I hear something like that IG, I usually send a tell saying that X is an OOC comment to make them aware of it.  I try to tone it so I dont sound condescending because, well, I dont mean to be, and I cant believe some of the things I said when I first came to layo heh.

Luckily I got set straight soon after the dragon dream ;)

I really don't want any trouble or feel the need to avoid a player on the server. If this person things I goofed, then so be it, I just wanted to apologize and have that be the end of it... I really like this server and so far this is the only time I've had anyone give me the impression I made a mistake.

It is also quite possible that maybe this person was just in a bad mood at the time, you know, wrong time wrong place, sometimes you just say things to blow off steam, we've all been there I'm sure. :)

We all have bad days. I'm just making my view clear on what I feel is best. Reality is neat and all. But if we all wanted to keep up with reality we wouldn't be making our own seperate lives here, now would we? :)

        *sighs*

I see that this will not die, and my crimes are becoming larger with each post. Therefore, I will answer when I normally would not, because it will just keep the thread alive... but either way, this is my only post on the thread.

I was at full health and attacking a goblin at range.  I am quite good with a bow, and have healing at my command. There was no difficulty I could see, unless the goblin rolled a lucky crit on me.

A pc ran up, ran past me, ran up the hill, ran up to the goblin, killed it.  No messages were sent, no 'hi, need help?', no nothing.

I call that kill stealing, and I see it happen frequently here.

I said 'My god, how could you not see me attacking that goblin? You stole my kill' or some such, I did not take a screenshot as I did not consider it a matter of concern.  I then left the map.

Server crashed, I came back on, and started receiving tells from the person.  As a rule I don't answer or send tells, especially cross-server, for any reason.  I may do so occasionally while in party, but that is it.

I saw the person later on and told them that I do not use the tell system.  They sent me more tells.  I finally sent them a tell asking them to leave me alone and stop sending me tells.

There are characters bloodthirsty enough that kill thief is a VERY valid statement while in-character.
Personally I think loot thief is an ooc term, but that just means I usually won't use it - I can see it being used in-character correctly.
        But that's just me.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, and assume that you are not saying I am a rot that destroys servers.  This is where I thought the thread was getting out of control, and that I was being forced to reply.  However, if you wish to see ooc statements, simply go online.  It happens all the time, either by someone not caring, not thinking it is ooc, or by a simple accident.  When you are in-character every moment you are online from everyone elses perspective, feel free to cast stones at me.  Until then, we are both human.

Or, to boil it all down to a simple sentence...

Dude - it happened, let it go and let's get on with the game. :o

Sure thing. But you were indeed Badly Wounded, I wouldn't have helped anyone who was fighting a goblin "Uninjured".
