Character problem
« on: October 20, 2005, 12:28:00 PM »
This may be the wrong place to post this, but I need some DM help.

I've just logged in for the first time with my new character (Arwinath Dy'nesifer), which is a remake of an old one, but the problem is, it is still recognising me as the old one. I put the name in the same as it was before, assuming that it wouldn't be a problem as he was deleted months ago. I am at level 1 with 0XP, but the journal still contains all the completed quests that I had done when I played him the first time around.

What is the best solution to this problem?

Remaking the character with a small change to the name should do it, I think.

That's what I thought, but I figured I better check it first :)

Yeah, something like a space at the front, or a change of the surname will help.

Or have the old PC deleted by a GM/ Leanther so that the server no longer recognizes the PC name.

doesn't work lad. the server still remembers what quests have been done with that name. you HAVE to changed the name slightly

Actually it can work if we also delete the database entries associated with said character, because that's where all your quest info is stored. I think generally, however, just the character gets deleted, and some light historical data is preserved...you know, just in case.
So add an extra space between first and last names, or do something that makes the character name different, and you'll be fine.

Interesting ... never thought the two would be seperate ... just assumed delete the one it takes care of the other ... at least with the saying that goes with assume, I only made an arse out of myself :)
