Desert effects

Just a thought. We have great cold and numbing affects on the barbarian isles. Why not the same thing in the desert on Dreger? It could reduce endurance instead of desterity to symbolise heat exhaustion etc?

I would see Strength reduction rather than Constitution, guess it would be more appropriate, but Con would be
very fit aswell.

Also, every use of a canteen while on the desert would drain it completely, since i don't think the charges could be set to be consumed for twice as normal, regarding scripting.

What about a faster thirst rate instead?  Smart adventurers still know how to ration.

What about a slow effect pretty much anywhere there isn't a road, like in the swamps.

Running in loose sand isn't exactly the easiest of things.

A new item could even be made because of it maybe.

A pair of boots with really wide soles (like those snowshoes that look like tennis rackets strapped to the foot) that give -1 or -2 to AC for akwardness in battle, but immunity to the slowing effect otherwise.

Druids, Monks, Rangers and Large-sized+ creatures would be immune to this of course, cuz they're sweet like that.

Here's a question:  what would you all suggest to abate the heat effects?  The cold effects can be abated by building a camp fire and sitting near it.  What do you suggest for heat? Also, the desert at night is often fairly cool, so heat effects shouldn't occur at night.
  Just some thoughts.

drinking water would have the same effect as a fire. most carry water so it wont be a big deal.... but you wont be able to go out for an extended amount of time inless you bring alot of water.

A slow effect everywhere in the deserts might hurt (might not, I'm no systems expert) us in the lag department.  Not to mention, not all deserts are deep sand.  However, it wouldn't be bad, kinda cool, in fact, to have the slow effect in a couple of the areas of the desert, where the deep sand might be, sorta like how you only get the slow effect when you actually get into the mucky water in the swamps.... then again, we'd have to add the slow effect to deep snow as well....  by deep I mean in excess of three feet deep.  Alos, making the thirst bit speed up would be pretty cool, too.  Good thing Cole keeps an average of eight canteens on him at all times...  like a walking fish tank....

deserts are exreams at almost all the time... either extreamly hot in the day.. and then.. the middle of the night can be extreamly cold.

Water and lots of shade in the day.. and not keeping warm at night is a BAD idea.
