Greetings and well met

Hello everyone.
I wanted to drop a few lines and say Hi to everyone. I recently joined the forums, have been reading through the various guides and rules and everything i can so far. It's a bit overwhelming but very well done and plenty of information to go around.
Also must say I truly enjoyed all the player movies
I do have a couple questions..that are kinda holding me up from submitting my character just yet. I wanted to ask some opinions or perhaps some guidance on how to go about it.
My main question is concerning the Multi-classing or Druids. From what i have gathered, once you stop progressing in druid, you can not return to it at a later period of time. I was really curious about the animal affinity skill and was wanting my character to be focused around nature and life, etc...but was not sure whether i should take the other class choice first, so i would be able to focus on nature stuff later. So guess am curious how useful the Animal affinity skill is on layonara? are there enough animals/creatures that it's worth using or should i just be happy with summons?
Anyway, am debating cleric and druid for my character currently. Not sure how popular they are. Or if there is an abundance. I just always enjoy characters tied to nature in some form.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post. I look forward to seeing you all inside Layonara.

Welcome!
I can't say about Druids since I never played one but there are some excellent Druids in Layo that can answer that question.
As for popularity, well it seems a lot of Clerics are around but it all depends on how you want to RP your character. And Layo is full of RP so I think you will enjoy it.
Hope to see you in game as well.
Forgot to add, make sure to read the Players handbook in the latest files section. It will answer many questions for you as well.

Thanks for the response and info.
I have read as much as I can from several sources on the site. It's all great info, guess was just trying to get some in game perspective before making a decision.
Was also curious who do I contact about questions on a particular race/class concerns if the Guides or Handbooks do not cover it? Is there a specific GM? or Forum?
Thanks again. Hope to see ya soon.

You are quite welcome to post any questions or concerns you may have in this forum. Generally the response will be quick, and there are usually GMS about monitoring posts etc, and Im sure one of us will be only to pleased to try and answer any questions you may have; or at least point you to someone that can give you an answer.
Oh nearly forgot.
Welcome..

Thanks for the Warm Welcome!
Well my only concern was dealing with a subrace (sea elf) and it's weapons they get to replace the normal elf prof's. How does that effect my class if lets say I am a druid. Am I still restricted to the wood/blunts + scimitar? Or would a Trident perhaps be allowable? What if I combined druid with a class that allowed such a weapon, would i still be limited to druid only?
Again, thanks. I know..sorry for all my questions
Just want to have stuff semi figured out before i come inside to enjoy the world.
Talk with you soon.

The post that Dorganath put up is a good place to start if you are interested in playing a Druid.
The weapon restrictions on Druids are not contingent on race. If you were to play a sea elf, your character would still be bound by the same rules that all other Druids play, only natural weapons or a scimitar as well as natural armor/clothing.
About your question on animal empathy. I use it all the time when I am running around with Luna. There are many many animals that a Druid can empathize and thus prevent them from attacking. It is a very handy skill to develop.
Multiclassing: You did read right, if you leave the path of the Druid unless you are taking Shifter levels as well. If you wanted to be a cleric/druid, I would recommend taking all the cleric levels you want first and then resubmitting when you are ready for your character to start on the path. There are, if I recall correctly, about 4 or 5 fairly active druids in game. I am sure any of them, including my character Luna, would be happy to meet a prospective Druid and answer any questions. The four that come to mind immediately are (and if there are others I forgot to mention, please forgive me) Rhizome, Brisbane, Luna and Kutya'I.
Other then that, Welcome to the best World around. Once you start here, you will be quickly addicted. Trust me.
Layonara is wonderful. The people are awesome, the GM team is the best and our Project Team does some incredible things!
Welcome and hope to see you in game at some point!

okay, not that I'm the expert, but I'd suggest, if you want to play a druid, plan on sticking to the woody weapons, maybe a scimi, and don't plan on being anything ever but a druid. As you said, you could start out as another character and multiclass into druid, however, the druid class is not something you just 'jump' into. that is, if you aim to multiclass into druid from, say, a fighter, what you'll need to do is:
1) keep a Character Development thread going here on the foorums so the DM's can see your progression into the druidic life. You may want to consider becoming 'apprentice' to another druid.
2) very likely you'll need to request a CDQ (character development quest) to cover the transition.
You can always play a ranger or even just a fighter who cares for nature. You don't have to be a druid to revere nature.
Oh, and what Kagekeeper said. You'd do well to run into Luna if you end up playing a druid.

Thanks everyone for the replies.
Well, that is always my biggest block when looking at druid, whether to take it only or to actually branch out into something else to add some extra falvor. The druid itself has tons of opportunity for roleplaying and style. Yet, sometimes I still feel there are holes that i need to fill in with something. heh.
That's cool to hear that animal empathy is worthy. Always is interested to use and is great when ya can help keep others safe with it. As far as my question about the trident, was not sure if that could be considered unrefined *grins* but guess the spear tip would be. Thought it would just be fun *smiles*
I will try and seek out other druids and teachers if I do decide to go that route. Even if not I always enjoy spending time with such personalities.
Thanks again all. Talk with you again soon.

You know, I think the sea elf druid is something that needs to be either discussed further or at least more information needs to be posted about it. Wood doesn't hold up underwater (neither does leather really, but as no "shark hide" armors or things like that have been made available IG yet, it can be overlooked for now due to lack of alternatives.)
A trident basically is a spear, and could be made of wood and stone as much as a spear could (though the forked bit would be more difficult I guess...) However, while there are wooden varieties of all spears available IG now (with either hardened wood or stone tips, I don't recall), there are not wooden tridents.
Now you've got me thinking about what a sea elf druid that lived in their natural habitat would use as a weapon... Since, well, theres not really any source of lumber, and wood would deteriorate quickly.

Yes that was where I was having a difficulty deciding on a weapon choice for a sea elf druid. Scimitar is unlikely, less looted from a treasure horde from a sunken ship or something. The Trident's well, perhaps the tips could be said to be a hardened form of coral perhaps or perhaps made from bone perhaps from whales that had naturally deceased. *shrugs* kinda grasping at straws.
I would love to see Trident as an alternative for Alternate enviroment druids. Also, as ya said, would be interesting to see varied armors based on unique enviroments.
I am still working on my character. Am hoping i can finish it today and get into game finally. The debate rages on. heh.
Thanks. See ya all soon.

Well this topic has prodded me into semi-action *grins* I've put all the druid information on the forums into LORE, and organized it a little bit. Might not be the best organization method, but at least everything you need to know about a druid is all linked together rather than in various stickies.
If I've missed anything or you have a suggestion about how it could be organized better, send me a PM.

Edit: Oh, I suppose I haven't done multiclassing restricitons yet... Suppose that would go in informaiton or submissions...
