I arrived in Port Hempstead in the evening. The streets were empty, except for a few dock workers. It was strange, I have never been anywhere except Denshou and the monastery (and a swift trip through the capitol city to get to the ship bound for here). I concidered asking some of the dockworkers about my mother, but they seemed too busy, and, for the most part, unfriendly, so I decided to wait until morning. I found a place to sleep in the center of the city, at the base of a towering statue.

I have now been asking around the city about my mother for a few weeks now. I asked in some buisnesses hoping she had found a job, and stopped some people on the streets. No one knows anything, and I fear that since I have so little to go on, it is going to be difficult. I am not even sure she stayed in this city or moved on. I wont give up.

One of the city workers asked me to go into the sewers to see why the were getting clogged. Hoping that she may give me some food if I found the problem, I agreed. I knew the rats I encountered could not be the problem, but they kept attacking me, forceing me to leave to recover. When I finally was able to get in deeper, I ran across another creature that appeared to be half man half lizard. I tried a few times and could not defeat him.

I returned to the main square to meditate, hoping to find the inner strength to complete this task, and met a very kind woman, who healed me of the wounds I had received. Her name was Rose. She offered to assist me, and with her help, we delved deep into the sewers and defeated a creature that was causing the problem.

Since then I have continued asking around about my mother. I don't want to leave the city until I have exausted all possibility that she is not here.

I will have to venture out soon though, for the captain of the guard asked me to look into a camp near the city.

I finally ventured out of the city today. I asked a woman named sala stonehill if there was another port city where my mother may have come in and she took me to Fort Vehl. She was also kind enough to give me some potions to heal my wounds, so in return I helped her go into the crypts and collect the knuckle bones from some anamated skeletons. The cryptkeeper also asked us to keep an eye out for something, some dust, while we were in there, which we found and returned to him.

I searched around the town for a little while but I do not think that my mother would have stayed there. It is not a pleasant place. The people are either unkind or want money for favours.

So I returned to port hempstead to see if i could find someone to help me.
I was in the main square meditating when suddenly an area nearby went dark.
A black creature came out of the darkness and attacked some others in the square, so i quickly went to help. we finished the creature off and the others introduced themselves as Beli, another monk, sallaron, and muireana. while we were talking about the event it happened again, and a short time later a creature seemingly made out of light appeared and attacked. the city guard said that some things like that had been happening around the city, but we were unable to find the reason.
Beli then took me around and showed me around the land. Wayfare, fort llast, kandor, and hlint. I will search through these places for my mother for the next few weeks.
For now I returned to Port Hempstead to try to complete the task the captain had asked of me. the kobolds were quite unreasonable and attacked on site. Lucky for me a woman who was in there to get some wood. She helped me get the stick the captain wanted.
Later I ran into a woman named Saira. A most unusual person. She was covered from head to to in robes. I could not see any part of her. I stopped to talk to her and she was very shy and nervous. While we were talking a kobold approached us asking for some gold. I thought that maybe this would be my chance to talk some reason into those at the camp but he then demanded all our gold, and attacked us. We fought him off and he ran. We gave chase back to the camp and were attacked by the others. Saira and I fought side by side to fight them off. Afterward Saira's robes were cut up and I noticed that her skin was black. I didn't know how to react at first. After all she had fought by my side. I had heard stories about dark elves, that they were not to be trusted and would kill you whenever a chance arose, but she could have killed me in the kobold camp and no one would have thought anything other than that the kobolds had done it. Perhaps the stories did not mention the ones that were not like all the others. We talked for quite some time and i came to believe she was differant. She had had a very difficult life growing up amongst the others of her kind and had become an outcast because her beliefs were differant than theirs. Her views on law were distorted because they are based on the laws of her people. I will talk to here more on this. The laws of man and elves are changing depending on where you are and who is in charge. I will tell her about the laws that keep everything around us in order, without which the world would be chaos and darkness.
