Hmmm..... I've got the itch
« on: October 31, 2008, 02:55:26 PM »
Hello fellow players:)  Wow, it feels like it has been forever!  We are settled now in Northern Alabama and we love it.  I will have to admitt that I do miss the warm Hawaiian Ilses right now as it is sooooo cold, and I have heard this is not cold for this time of year here.  YIKES!  Some of you know we have horses, which are my passion, and it is getting a little chilly for me to ride all the time.  I still need to put about 40 pounds on my frame some say.:\\ Then I can weather the climate more here.  But....enough of that.  I  guess I am thinking about bringing Peanut back in for a bit;) but I don't even know if that will work with our internet being sooooo slow.  It is AT&T cellular which if you have ever used it is so unpredictable.  We have the lower Smokey Mountains all around us so to even see a tower is basicly nill.  Any suggestions?  I know the world has changed some since my absence so I wonder if poor old Peanut should even show herself and check things out.
Anyway....*waves*......hello to all of you who remember Mooneyes!

Hey there, glad to hear from you. I'm sure you checked, but still. Have you contacted other phone companies to have a dsl or cable connection hoocked up? (although I personally favor dsl for the fact its not speed sharing, cable usualy can go further than the usual dsl lines).

And give up my pink chair *winks* About 15 min. away.  We live out of city limits so we doen't even have high speed internet in any way shape or form at the moment.  We live just on the edge of what is Madison County so it is a supply and demand thing here.  Not enough people in the Equestrian Community out here that request the service.  Lines and hubs would need to be laid and built from my understanding, which means money that the state, county, or city would have to allocate?  Shoot, I think that is what they are telling us.

There are a few satellite ISP's (clearwire and Xanadoo come to mind) that might work, but I don't know if they cover that area.

And really good to hear from you guys!

I don't know your thoughts on dial-up but, I played on it for two years with little trouble.

Other then that it is great to hear from you! Hope whatever you decide works out.

Hello again!

I would really love to see Peanut come around again, but well I am a little baised I guess after Sallaron started spreading rumours that Storold was dating an imaginary person so maybe there will be a little time for the lovely human sorceress too? :)

Thanks :)  I'll see if I can get some of the haks downloaded this weekend.  I guess with the slow downloads I can always go muck some stalls. (grabs the pitchfork and heads to the barn)

Great to hear from you.  Is everyone enjoying the new setting?  Things have changed here a lot in the last year, but that's no reason you couldn't basically get right back into the swing of things.  Hope to see you around more often (forums or in game).

There might always be a possiblity for a wireless WIMAX connection from an ISP near your locale, if one is providiing such services.
Basically it is like a cellular phone network (radio-wave transmitted), the set-up of it is more costly than just a modem or router, meaning a station with the antenna high up in a pole on your yard and the wire from there into the house and a router :)

Or you could get someone with tech skills to come and spot from your property a proper place for a cellular phone antennae for WiFI connection via your phonecompany. Basically the same as the WIMAX, just slower and a more likely option for the ISP's to provide.

Then you would have to get used to a 30 feet pole pointing to the skies on your yard of course :)

Hope to see you and the others online soon!
