Prantz is Crooked
« on: July 17, 2009, 07:46:58 PM »
Description: This is low priority, but if you've got the time it would be nice to fix: Prantz is crooked.  When you look at the map of Dregar and travel in-game, you'll notice, if you travel north from Lor, that you approach Prantz from the south and can detour west around the city to Haft Lake, which is indeed west of Prantz.

Prantz itself is rotated so that these directions don't mesh.  The south gate from Prantz (directly forward of the way one arrives at the portal there) leads to Haft Lake.  I'm not entirely sure where the other two gates go; they always confuse me because they don't point the right way.  I think the west gate goes north and the east gate south, but that's just a guess.

It's easy enough to just run to Haft Lake - whether from the portal or north or south of town - and be properly oriented to know where I'm going, so, like I said, low priority.  I've been doing that a long time and not worrying about it, but I was giving directions today and had to go back and make corrections.  I hope no one gets lost, heh.

Location: The main square/main gate of Prantz, and possibly the other areas of Prantz

Reproducible: *nods*

"Right way" is dependent upon the proximity of the corresponding destination. If areas are immediately next to one another, this would be required. However, from the maps, Haft Lake is some (very approximately) fifty "Statute Miles" from Prantz (depending upon which side of the lake the actual area is located on and the actual size of Prantz).

The East Gate goes to "Near Fort Laer", which is south of Prantz, and presumably south of the town of Anvil (not a module area), some ~100 to ~150 Statute Miles away.

The West Gate "goes" to "Dalos Lake", which is north west of Prantz, some ~200 Statute Miles away.

Yes, it would make navigation easier, but there are many transitions in the module where you exit in one direction and arrive in another.

There is an area transition map available. :)

Sure, distance and changing direction between one place and another hundreds of miles apart, but it's still weird.  It looks like Prantz was made to line up right but it got confused during the building of the area, laid out wrong.  And, to me, it feels more broken to go out the south gate to go west (and go out the west gate to go north and enter from the south by the east gate when there's a perfectly good south gate) there than to change direction like that in the middle of the forest somewhere. *shrug*

Low priority and I can navigate fine.  The biggest problem is probably that it just doesn't look very professional and polished, heh.

Well, there can be routes in between the transitions if one uses his/her imagination :)

Yeah, I've never really been good at that one... on all accounts online I'd contend.
