A hearty hello.
« on: September 15, 2008, 02:05:04 am »
Greetings. This looks like a fantastic and thriving community. I look forward to taking part in and contributing to it.

A bit about me:
Born and raised in South Florida. Cuban/Italian/Lithuanian. Fluent Spanish. At the age of 14, I met one of my best friends. He eventually became my first GM. I played in that circle for ten years. New people came and went, but I was always on the inside, inviting others in. I moved to Boston maybe five months ago. I'm the sort that makes acquaintances easily. Most people would call them friends, but I reserve the term friend for people of a considerably less casual association. The sort of person you can call the four in the morning on a weeknight because drunk was how you might have been defined before the tequila and you're now pioneering new levels of inebriation.

For me, in person tabletop or LaRP Role-playing is a very personal thing. I'm not a beer and pretzels gamer. When I create a character, it is, in some way, an extension and possibly representation of some aspect of myself. I enjoy in-depth role-playing and deep immersion. I've had a bit of difficulty finding a new group, not that I've had much time for it.

Since moving up here, I've reconnected somewhat with my local SCA, and joined The Steampunk Society of Massachusetts.

I fix computers. I game. I fence. I carouse.

NwN Experience: I've played NWN1, the expansions, and NWN2. I play a bit on another RP PW, but intermittently, and I'm rusty on the UI.

PnP Experience: I've been playing tabletops for about ten years. I've played Rules Cyclopedia D&D (When elf was a class and evil was a language), Second Edition AD&D, D&D3e, 3.5, and a number of D20 OGL games, Hero System (A super-hero game that lasted 3.5 years and changed systems twice), Mage, Changeling, Tri-stat, GURPS, Deadlands, Star Trek, Rifts, and a few others I can't recall the systems for.
I'm currently involved in my first tabletop since I moved to Boston. A GURPS: Steampunk game.

Occupation: BlackBerry Enterprise Server HelpDesk Administrator

Characters Played: Philius Wolfinson

What I like to see IG:
Immersion. Dedication. Punctuation. Customization. Capitalization. Exclamation! Friendly players. Friendly DMs. Magic, romance, and science with an exclamation point.
Clever ruses, cunning plans.
Singing muses and Faraway lands.

What I dislike to see IG:
"lol lets fite a dragon!1"

*points to the calender* Look for quests. Both player initiated and GM run quests. They will help get you acclamated to and involved in the world.

And welcome!

hi, psyneo - i'm new here myself - had my first walkabout in port hempstead last evening/this morning and am still learning the ways of Layonara and her people

they seem like a very friendly bunch here and the world seems to be quite detailed, tho this is my own first incursion into NWN campaign play, so i've little to judge by.

i have met Stephen, a very courteous DM who helped me take my first baby ssteps here and highly recommend him as being helpful and patient!

all in all, i'd say that this is a cool little community and i hope to be here awhile and hope to see you around

regards,

oldskooler/Rich

Stephen's not a DM - miscommunication clarified. :)

However, he DOES like to try being helpful! (And, if he had time, he'd sure apply to be a DM...)
